Store yarn in a plastic vented hamper.
The vents will keep your yarn smelling fresh.
You can also place fabric softener sheets in with the yarn to make it smell great.

Subject: Stitch_Question
I am a beginner and want to use your ribbed edge dishcloth crochet pattern, but am stumped as to what fpdc and bpdc mean?
Thank you for sharing your pattern and for your time with this question.

These are double crochet post stitches.
Crochet stitches are normally worked into
by working through the top two loops of each stitch.
When working around the post you actually work
around the entire stitch. Here are examples:
FRONT POST DOUBLE CROCHET
Yarn over, insert hook from the front side
of the work right to left around the post
of the indicated stitch on a previous row;
yo and pull up a loop (3 lps on hk)
yo and draw through two lps (2 lps on hk)
yo and draw through two lps (1 lp on hk)
BACK POST DOUBLE CROCHET Yarn over,
insert hook from the back side of the work right
to left around the post of the indicated stitch on
a previous row;
yo and pull up a loop (3 lps on hk)
yo and draw through two lps (2 lps on hk)
yo and draw through two lps (1 lp on hk)
This link is helpful in explaining these stitches.

You can find these and many other stitch abbreviations and instructions on

Glad you are joining the crochet world.
Do you have a particular pattern you would like to start with?
I am teaching a beginning crochet class through community education at our local community college. I would like to use your scrunchie pattern for one of the classes. May I copy your pattern and give it to the ladies in my class?
Diane Morlan
<< reply >>
First of all, thank you for asking.
Second, yes, you may print copies of my scrunchie pattern for use in your class.
Each pattern page contains the URL to that particular pattern which will
give your students the opportunity to visit my site if they need to print a new copy.
Good luck with your class.
RE: Sawyer's_Sweater
I do not understand the pattern that goes with Sawyer's titLe for a dog sweater. The picture shows all sizes of "French knots" but no directions for making them as you crochet. I really like the pattern and would love to make it but it does not match...picture to direcxtions...Mary

These stitches to which you are referring are single crochet puff stitches.
Here’s how:
(SC PS)
SINGLE CROCHET PUFF STITCH
Yo, pull up loop 4 times, 9 loops on hook, yo, pull thru 8 loops,
yo, pull thru 2 loops, push puff to front of work, work next st in your pattern.
You can find this and many other stitch instructions on our Crochet Basics Page:

Hope you enjoy the pattern.
RE: Christmas ornament bag pattern
I live in Baltimore, Maryland. I printed this pattern two weeks ago and just looked at it. What do you mean in Row 1 by: single crochet in the "hump" of the 2nd ch from hook? Do you mean go through both loops, the front or back loop only? I've never heard the term "hump" before in crocheting.
Mary Pat
<< reply >>
Each chain has a top loop and a bottom loop on the front side
and on the back there is a little hump.
When you make the foundation chain (the chains made to begin your
project) the front side of the chain will look like little hearts sitting
on top of each other. When you flip the chain over to the back side
it looks like a little row of humps... work into those humps.
I specify to work in the "hump of the chain" in many of my patterns.
Hope this helps.

RE: http://www.crochetnmore.com/emmasbabybooties.htm
I am trying to make Emma's baby booties for my first grandchild and I can't figure out the toe directions. I follow them but I am not able to connect everything together. There seems to be something missing on the instructions.. Could you please help me.. I would like to finish the booties to take to my daughter when I return home from my vacation.
Thanks.
Olga

When the ribbon is inserted it draws the bootie together.
The heel and toe do not actually join.
Hope you enjoyed this pattern.

This book
is a wonderful addition to any crochet library.
I've had numerous requests over the years of what to crochet for
boys.
Crobots are definitely the answer!
This 96-page book is filled with numerous types of Crobot patterns
as well as well-illustrated instructions for the
crochet stitches, assembly stitches and other embellishments used
in the patterns.
The patterns are well written, some of the book is written in a
small font but the pictures are wonderful. NOTE:
This book comes to you with a safety warning regarding the small
parts used in the patterns.
Therefore, please use your own discretion as to the age of the child
you intend the gift for.
I have to tell you about this new book.
SweaterBabe.com's Fabulous & Flirty Crochet
I'm so happy to have it in my crochet library.Katherine Lee has an eye for style and a definite knack for creating
beautiful crochet patterns.
I was really happy with the large colorful project photos.
There's something for everyone!
The aspect of Fabulous and Flirty Crochet that stood out to me was
the section on the yarns
used in the patterns. One page shows "actual size" photos
of the yarns which makes it super
easy to substitute other yarns if you want to. For those who stay
strictly to the recommended
yarn in a pattern Katherine has included a yarn resource list. The
projects are very fashionable
and perfect for gift giving... though I'm sure you'll have to make
something for yourself :o)
I can't wait to try the Flirty Skirt and the Ruffled Strap Tank.

"Laughter is an instant vacation." - Milton Berle
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
One man said to his friend, "What an automated society we live in. Have you ever noticed that when a traffic light turns green, it automatically activates the horn of the car behind you?”
Our minister announced that admission to a church social event would be six dollars per person. "However, if you're over 65," he said, "the price will be only $5.50."
From the back of the congregation, a woman's voice rang out,
"Do you really think I'd give you that information for only fifty cents?"
man was sitting on the sofa watching TV when he heard his wife's voice from the kitchen.
"What would you like for dinner, Love? Chicken, beef or lamb?"
He said, "Thank you, I'll have chicken."
"DAH!," she called back. "You're having soup. I was talking to the cat!"
One day a man went to an auction. While there, he bid on a
parrot. He really wanted this bird, so he got caught up in
the bidding. He kept on bidding, but kept getting outbid,
so he bid higher and higher and higher.
Finally, after he bid way more than he intended, he won the bid - the parrot was his at last!
As he was paying for the parrot, he said to the Auctioneer, "I sure hope this parrot can talk. I would hate to have paid this much for it, only to find out that he can't talk!"
"Don't worry." said the Auctioneer, "He can talk. Who do you think kept bidding against you?"
While walking through the woods one day, I was surprised to
hear a child's voice. I followed the sound, trying in vain
to understand the child's words. When I spotted a boy perched
on a rock, I realized why his words had made no sense: He was
repeating the alphabet.
"Why are you saying your ABC's so many times?" I asked him.
The child replied, "I'm saying my prayers."
I couldn't help but laugh. "Prayers? All I hear is the alphabet."
Patiently the child explained, "Well, I don't know all the words, so I give God the letters. He knows what I'm trying to say.
Sarah was reading a newspaper, while her husband was engrossed in a magazine. Suddenly, she burst out laughing. "Listen to this," she said. "There's a classified ad here where a guy is offering to swap his wife for a season ticket to the stadium."
"Hmmm," her husband said, not looking up from his magazine.
Teasing him, Sarah said, "Would you swap me for a season ticket?"
"Absolutely not," he said.
"How sweet," Sarah said. "Tell me why not."
"Season's more than half over," he said.
A visitor to a certain college paused to admire the new Hemingway Hall that had been built on campus.
"It's a pleasure to see a building named for Ernest Hemingway," he said.
"Actually," said his guide, "it's named for Joshua Hemingway. No relation."
The visitor was astonished. "Was Joshua Hemingway a writer, also?"
"Yes, indeed," said his guide. "He wrote a check."
A couple of goobers in a pickup truck drove into a lumberyard. One
of them walked into the office and said, "We need some four-by- twos."
The clerk said, "You mean two-by-fours, don't you?"
The man said, "I'll go check," and went back to the truck. He returned a
minute later and said, "Yeah, I meant two-by-fours."
"All right. How long do you need them?"
The customer paused for a minute and said, "I'd better go check."
After a while, he returned to the office and said, "A long time. We're
gonna build a house."
Visiting a genealogist, a man asked how much it would cost to
have his family tree traced.
“It could cost thousands of dollars,” said the woman.
“I see. Well, isn’t there an easier way? A less expensive way?”
"Sure,” she replied. “Run for president.”
Our kindergarten class went to the fire station for a tour and some
instruction in fire safety. The fireman was explaining what to do in
case of a fire.
He said, "First, go to the door and feel the door to see if it's hot."
Then he said, "Fall to your knees. Does anyone know why you ought to fall to our knees?"
One of the little tykes said, "Sure, to start praying to ask God to
get us out of this mess!"
A little boy was walking down the sidewalk with a limp. A man coming in the opposite direction noticed that he only had one shoe on. The man said to the little boy...."Hey buddy, what's the matter, lose a shoe?"
The boy replied, "Nah, found one".
After years of using the same perfumes, I decided to try
something different and settled on a light, citrusy
fragrance.
The next day I was surprised when it was my little boy, not
my husband, who first noticed the change. As he put his arms
around me, he declared, "Wow, Mom, you smell just like Froot
Loops!"
