Puff Stitch Baby Hat 2 Crochet Pattern

The following pattern is my original design.
Please only copy or print this pattern for personal use.

MATERIALS:

Bernat Baby Coordinates (White - 1-1/2 ounces)
Hook Size H
Stitch Marker

Gauge: 9 single crochets = 2"
           10 rows of singles = 2"

Stitches: ch, sc, dc, sc puff st, fpsc, bpsc.

SC PUFF ST = Yo, pull up loop 4 times, 9 loops on hook, yo, pull thru 8 loops, yo, pull thru 2 loops,
push puff to front of work.

FPSC = Insert hook from the front side of the work right to left around the post of the indicated stitch on a previous row;
yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through two lps.

BPSC = Insert hook from the back side of the work right to left around the post of the indicated stitch on a previous row;
yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through two lps.

Difficulty: MEDIUM


R1: Ch4. 11 dc in 4th ch from hook. Join with sl st in top of beg ch4. (12dc)

R2: Ch1, do not turn. 2sc bet all sts. Place Marker. (24sc)

NOTE: Do not turn and do not join rounds unless indicated.

R3: Sc in ea sc. Place Marker. (24sc)

R4: (2sc in next st. Sc in next st) around. Place Marker. (36sc)

Rs5-7: Rep R3. (36sc)

R8: Rep R4. (54sc)

Rs9-17: Rep R3. (54sc)

R18: Join with sl st. Ch1, turn. Sc in same st. Sc Puff St in next st. (Sc in next st. Sc Puff St in next st) around. Join with sl st in beg ch1. (27 Sc Puff Sts)

R19: Ch1, turn. Sc in ea st. Join with sl st.

R20: Do not turn. Ch3, dc in ea sc.
NOTE: You must have an even number of sts after this rnd in order for subsequent rnds to work correctly.
Sl st to join. (54dc)

R21: Ch1, do not turn. Fpsc around same st. Bpsc around next st.
(Fpsc around next st. Bpsc around next st.) around.
Join with sl st in first st.

R22: Ch1, turn. Sc Puff St in first st. Sc in next st.
(Sc Puff St in next st. Sc in next st.) around. Join with sl st in first st.

R23: Ch1, turn. Sc in ea st. Join with sl st in first st. (54sts)

R24: Ch3 (counts as 1dc), do not turn. Dc in ea st around.
Join with sl st in first st. (54sts).

R25: Ch1, (Fpsc around same st. Bpsc around next st.) around.
Join with sl st in first st.

Fasten Off.
