MY TESTIMONY

I just wanted take to this opportunity to share Jesus with you.

I've been in Church or Sunday School most of my life but until July of 1995 I guess I never gave Jesus very much credit. After all, he only died for me...right?

Anyway, my husband, Tim, and I were married January 23, 1991 which was a little before we had planned (March 2, 1991). We decided to rush it up thanks to Uncle Sam because he had plans for Tim to be re-activated into the U.S. Army. He had to leave for Fort Knox, KY on January 31st, so we had very little time together before he had to go. I remember going to see him for Valentines Day just before he was to be sent to Germany to prepare for Desert Storm. We were both so sad the day he had to leave. But, God answered my prayers when he ended the war and sent Tim back home to me the weekend before he was to go the Saudi Arabia.

Then, while I was working (making very little money) and Tim was going to Nursing School we came up a little short on cash one week and couldn't buy any food. God worked yet another miracle and we received a $50 check in the mail from the phone company that was supposed to be a deposit refund. It was my understanding that if you got a refund it should have been just after the first year of service and we had our phone much longer than that. Needless to say, we ate that week thanks to our Special Friend.

God was working more miracles in my life than I had ever acknowledged.

Still, I always had an excuse not to attend Church or Sunday School. My main excuse was that Sunday was my only day to sleep late. I guess most of you can relate to that.

Well, the time came that Tim and I decided we wanted to have a baby. Around that time, Tim watched alot of John Hagee (He's a preacher in Texas) on the Inspirational Network and I really had no choice except to listen. One morning while I was curling my hair, John Hagee said something about people saying they don't go to church because "It's my only day to sleep late". That stuck in my mind for a long time and it bothered me so bad that I started getting up on Sunday and going to Sunday School and Church. All this time the Lord was burdening my heart. I became very uncomfortable with the idea of having a baby without first cleansing myself of all my sins and I felt I wanted.... NO NEEDED to be baptized. I talked to Tim and he said "Do something about it." So a week or two went by and we went with Tim's family to stay at a lake house that belonged to one of our church members and I was so uneasy until I finally told my father-in-law, James Hamblin, that I wanted him to baptize me... by the way, he's the pastor at our church. I had never felt better about my relationship with God. The next Sunday I went up front during our church service to acknowledge that I wanted Jesus as my personal savior and the following Sunday I was baptized. I just can't explain how clean I felt after the baptism. I almost felt like a cold chill ran down my spine as a sign to let me know that Jesus was right there with me.

Since my baptism, Tim and I started teaching Sunday School and we had a baby girl. She's almost 19 months old now. And we did alot of praying while I was carrying her. Tim and I both decided that whenever we had children I would quit my job and when the time came our finances didn't look stable enough to do that. Then my mother-in-law, Myrna Hamblin, got me a book with stories in it from working mothers who wanted to stay home with their children and how some of them managed to do it. The main thing they all had in common was their trust in God to help them through anything. I put my trust in Him and quit my job and I've been home with my daughter ever since. And believe it or not, we don't even miss the paycheck.

God worked yet another miracle in my life today. Tim is still in school working toward his Masters degree and working full time.He left around 3pm today to go to Richmond, KY for a class. That's about a 2 hour drive from our house. For some reason he came back home just before 4pm and said he had decided not to go. Just after Tim came home my Dad called me and said that my niece (she's 5-1/2 years old) was still at school and needed someone to pick her up. If Tim hadn't come back I wouldn't have had any way to get there. I had the worst feeling that something had happened to my Sister. So I picked up my niece and dropped her off at my house and left again to try to find my Sister. When I got to the intersection (in which I could go two different ways to get there) I gave a signal to go one way and right at the last minute something made me change my mind to go the other way. On the way to her house, I passed her. (Which I wouldn't have by going the other way) Come to find out, she was fine and for some reason her clocks were all messed up and she didn't know what time it really was. I had been praying all that time that if God would let my Sister be OK I would work harder to tell others about Him. I started with her when she came to my house and I guess you're next.

I've worried for a long time that something might happen to members of my family that haven't accepted Jesus as their personal Savior and that if something did happen to them I would never see them again. So if you don't know him why not ask him to come into your life today. You will never be the same and you will always have a friend.

My little girl just turned 3 years old this month. What a blessing she is.
We are truly blessed that God helps us in our day-to-day living and that he helps us overcome any obstacles in our lives. Just recently our web host went out of business and didn't bother to tell us. I believe the devil was behind that because our website reaches so many people that he's trying to keep on his side. Well, we got our site relocated to a new host and we have had more visitors and newsletter subscribers than ever before.
That just shows you that God always comes out on top :o)

God is always there for us.

He can be there for you too.

February 26, 2001

Hubby and I celebrated our 10th Anniversary last month. My daughter is 4 years old now and a huge fan of Aaron Carter. She goes around telling everyone he's her boyfriend and she wants to marry him :o) She's such a joy and is always making us laugh. Our family made a BIG change recently... Tim (hubby) quit his nursing job to pursue his dream. He's now self-employed, working full-time at http:www.blitzpromotions.com and loving it. God has blessed us so much these past couple of years. My friend, Heather, had her hubby's niece, Sharon, call me a few months back and since then she and I have become good friends. Even better than that, she's going to Church now also.

Some time ago, my Mother-In-Law gave a test at church called a "spiritual gifts" test. Well, my main gift according to the test was "evangelism". I thought, yeah right! Well, that was in late 1997 or early 1998... can't remember which... but the fact remains that I began my website in July of 1998 and have been a witness to our Lord, Jesus, ever since. That tells me that God has a plan for me and though I do not see it directly at times, the plan is still there. I just have to be faithful and let God guide me in the direction He wants me to go. Take a moment to think about what God has done in your life. How He has led you when you didn't' even know it. Praise God for all that He does and be a witness for Him!

June 29, 2006

It's been quite a while since I updated this page. God has done alot in our family in these past 5 years. Tim, Haley and I moved into a new home in September of 2003. Tim and I work from home. Haley starts 4th grade in August. She has a boyfriend named Jonathan (since 2nd grade).

Haley was baptized by her Grandpa, James Hamblin, August 15, 2004.

Here are Haley and Tim just before she was baptized.

I joined Weight Watchers August, 2004, just after Haley was baptized.

Before starting Weight Watchers: August, 2004 After reaching my goal weight: January, 2005

With the program I learned how to eat healthy to lose weight. Like many people (we're only human) I gain and lose some of the same pounds over and over. I reached my goal weight in December, 2004 and became a Lifetime Member in February, 2005.

Hubby's Grandfather passed away in June of 2005. He lived in Oregon so we flew there for the funeral. Haley and I had never flown before. What an experience!

Our family dog, Schotzi, passed away December 14, 2005.

Mamaw Maxine (my Wal-Mart Buddy) passed away January 30, 2006.

We visited family (May 23, - June 4, 2006) for our vacation. We stayed with my Aunt and her hubby, Ada Mae & Boyd Puckett, for a week in Indiana. While there we went shopping and ended up in the basement of the LaPorte Mall because of a tornado warning. Scary that day, but we had alot of fun visiting Napanee, Indiana which is an Amish community. While there we saw alot of Amish families; we shopped at Borkholder Dutch Village and visited an Amish Bakery.

Then we went to Illinois to spend 4 days with my cousin, Mike Overbee, and his family. While there they took us to downtown Chicago by way of the Metra to Union Station. We saw the Sears Tower. We took an accordian bus and Haley visited American Girl Place. Then we walked to Navy Pier to see the sites. Then we ended up taking a Taxi ride back to Union Station (that was an experience). BOY! I sure was glad when we made it back to Kentucky : 0 )

December 31, 2011

It's been a while since I have added to my testimony.
Much has happened over the years.
We have acquired two new additions to our family... furry additions that is.
Meet Sawyer (Miniature Schnauzer) and Khloe (Yorkie-poo).

Sawyer and Khloe - 11-18-11

We have had several vacations... one of which was to the Mall of America in 2010.
That was quite an experience for our family. The brochure said there were 520 stores and
my feet thought we had visited them all :0)

We drove there and were blessed to see many beautiful places along the way.

Mall of America

Finances have been extremely limited this year so Tim and I didn't take a vacation.
Our daughter, Haley, went to visit Myrtle Beach with my parents, sister and niece.
Haley is now in high school... no idea where the time went.

Haley

Tim was blessed with jury duty this year. Can you believe it.. that wasn't even on his
bucket list... lol. He has had computer problems galore in the last month and it's difficult to accomplish anything online when that happens. So, he ordered a new one.

Tim was able to fill in for his Dad, who is pastor at our church, while he was on vacation. Tim has taught adult Sunday school class while I've taught the Younger Children's Sunday school class.

Like many times before I have gained weight, yet again, which isn't helping
my asthma at all. Guess it's time to make that dreaded new year's resolution
once more.

We pray for God's blessings in the new year... for our family and for our friends.
Hopefully 2012 will be the best year ever!

God Bless you and thank you for reading my testimony.

Lisa

I pray that you recognize the miracles that God works in your life.
May God Bless You and Your Family!
