Please pray for my granny's sister Nell, I have requested prayer for her before; she has cancer in her bladder... but Monday night my granny got a call and she has had a stroke... She has hospice taking care of her, but it's a very stressful situation. My granny and her two sisters are all that are left out of fourteen. Three of them have passed within this year. They were supposed to tell Aunt Ruby today the seriousness of the situation so she can be prepared, As much as you can be prepared for somethimg like this.She has lost the use of her left side and can hardly swallow, due to a tumor in her lymph node, according to Myrtle.I will keep you informed as well as I can. Mom's sister called her last night and said "come to me". When mom got there they had to rush her to St. Jo. She's in ICU and mom is at my grandmothers asleep, so I haven't talked to her. The tumor in her head is bleeding. The fear is that she will, "bleed out". Theres 4 tumors there. Thanks Asena

The doctors cant find an explanation on what is going on with her, but I'm asking for prayer for her and my grandfathers salvation and for the doctors to find a solution on what is making her feel like she is going to pass out. PRAISE REPORT

I would like to personally thank each and every one that prayed for my niece, Hannah and her husband Chris Cole. As many of you know, Hannah needed a kidney. Her husband, Chris, ended up being the match for her. He matched 5 out of 6 components and became her donor. Hannah and Chris had surgery on Friday, December 18. Chris is in Rad Tech School and works part-time at Children's Hospital. He wanted to do this during his Christmas break so he would not have to miss any school and delay his completion of the program. They are both doing excellent. Chris is recovering and should have returned to school yesterday, I think. Hannah is still recovering and adjusting to having to go to the bathroom all the time. We may take that for granted and say "oh no, not again" but with her I say "Thank God". She has a kidney that is working and she has to go to the bathroom. She is not used to that one. Also they are adjusting her meds (anti-rejection). Her creatinine levels are ranging from 0.7 to 0.9. Again, thank God for that. She dropped from a 6.5 to 1.7 in just one day after the surgery. Her immunity has starting rebuilding and she has more energy and is feeling like talking a little bit more on the phone, etc. She will hopefully return to work in 2 months. Hannah received two special gifts from God other than her salvation. She received Chris as her husband and donor and received the kidney that she so desperately needed and did not even know about. You see, it was no accident that all of this came about. Hannah and Chris has only been married 3 or 4 years. I'm not for sure. He married her and she finished his stay with him in the Air Force. We didn't even know she was sick. We had never heard of Alport Syndrome. Hannah developed a hearing problem and ended up having hearing aides at the age of 22 or 23 - again I'm not for sure. She has problems with cystic ovaries and had to go to the ER one night. Her blood work came back terrible. Her creatinine level was through the roof. After seeing her regular MD he did more blood work which came back as bad. He sent her to Christ Hospital for a kidney biopsy. Her doctor came in to talk to her after the biopsy and Hannah had her hearing aides out and her mom told him he had to speak up because she had them out. He asked how long she had had hearing problems. My sister (Hanah's mom) told them pretty much all her life,and Chris told him she had only had her hearing aides about a year at that time. Her doctor made the connection between the hearing loss and the disease that so few know so little about. Hearing loss is directly associated with Alport Syndrome. He specifically requested the additional testing on the biopsy to see. What's amazing is Hanah had seen a couple ENT's in Cincinnati over her hearing when she was younger and they could find nothing wrong. It was only when she moved to Ellsworth AFB with her husband Chris and saw an ENT on base that they found she was really in trouble with her hearing. She got her hearing aides and everyone thought all was well. This disease is usually not discovered until late 30's early 40's and the patient is usually ready for a transplant and dialysis and don't even know. Hannah is 25. All the testing was done and Hannah was diagnosed with this disease that would take her life she did not get a transplant before it was too late. Hannah and Chris went to eat at some restaurant and they were standing outside talking to his mom and dad. There were a lot of bikers that pulled in and one of them came over and told Hannah that he felt like he needed to pray for her. He was the pastor of the Church that Hannah and Chris and Chris' family ended up getting saved, baptized and are now members of. Lots of things have happened along the way like this that are no coincidences. Lyndsey, Hannah's sister, tested to be the donor for Hannah. Matched her 6 out of 6 components but had unexplained blood in her urine. Ended up she could not be Hannah's donor because of the blood and she also carries the gene.. Chris then was tested - matched 5 out of 6. Coincidence? I say not. Again, God is in control of all this and more. December 18th was on Friday. Transplants are not done on Friday. Always on Tuesday. Coincidence? No - God is still in control. Two surgeons on the same day in the same OR. Scheduled for Chris at 7:30 and Hannah at 8:30. Nurse kiddingly said that Chris' MD was always late. He was there at 7:30 just like he supposed to be. Coincidence - again God was in control of all this. By 9:30 Hannah was ready for that brand new kidney. Chris was in recovery at 11:30 and Hannah was still about 2 hours away. Everything went well and she was in recovery by the time she should have been. Kidney working like a dream. Had output like crazy. Chris went home on Tuesday and Hannah went home on Wednesday of the next week. I know this is a long e-mail but I just wanted you to know who and why you were praying for. I want you to know that without you all praying things may have ended up being different but I do know one thing for sure is that GOD WAS IN CONTROL AND HE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT HE WAS DOING. He knew who the donor was and He knew from the beginning of their courtship and marriage what was going to be. None of that was an accident. I give God ALL the glory for what He did to prepare the beginning and how He finished the end of as Hannah calls it "The Year of Kidney". It has been a long year - 2009, but it was a good year for Hannah and Chris. The love of his life was given a new lease on life. There are no accidents or mistakes with God. We need to trust Him for everything in our life - not just the bad times. It is hard to be thankful for the bad times but it is through the bad times that we see how awesome and how great our God is. I love each and everyone of you and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Please keep praying for them when you think of them. They will still have ups and downs in the adjustments that have to be made but whatever the outcome we all know that God is in control. I know that Hannah and Chris, my sister and her little family and all my family want to thank you for your prayers. We will be praying for your pastor also to get his "year of the kidney". Thanks from the bottom of our hearts.

Please pray for a young boy, Wesley Thacker, and 8th grader. He had been observed running awkwardly during basketball games lately. About 2 weeks ago, he got bumped on the hip and caused a feeling like a charlie horse that he couldn't get rid of. It caused a stress fracture. Anyway, he went to a doc on Thurs, scans done, went back for more scans and is now at UK. They think he has a type of bone cancer. The tumor is on his pelvis. He is supposed to have a biopsy soon to determine that it is for sure cancer and what kind. The family is having a really hard time with this news and need a lot of prayers. His father goes to church with us. His mother works as a special needs aide in the schools. I'm not sure if she is a Christian or not. Please say a prayer for this family. Marilee Hylton

Subject: My mom and son

Please pray for my mom and son and add them to your prayer list. My mom, Joyce Miniard is having a difficult time right now and is very sick; she has advanced larynx (throat) cancer that has spread to her lymph nodes , the doctors have also have found a large mass on her left breast, and a spot on her lung. She has lost a lot of weight and had to have a feeding tube inserted to help her get the needed nutrition. The tumor is located on top of her voice box making it hard to swallow and talk. She will begin radiation and chemotherapy treatment soon. The plan is for her to get eight weeks of radiation with chemotherapy added. She will be receiving at least three chemo treatments. We are waiting on the breast biopsy to finalize treatment in case there needs to be something added in with the treatment for the larynx cancer. My parents are staying with me during this time so I can help take care of her. When she begins her treatment It may come to the point that I have to take a leave of absence. My son, Pace Eckert has Asperger’s Syndrome (a form of autism) and many other medical problems. He has recently started taking severe seizures; to the point of passing completely out and losing consciousness. The doctors want to do a 48-72 hour seizure study to decide what type of seizure he is actually having. His neurologist did tell me that we could do it on the weekend. We are going through a difficult time right now, but we know that through God’s help we can make it, so we are definitely relying on our faith. Thanks, Ynetta Eckert

They are not sure what is going on with him. they have checked for another bleed but cant find one . so now they are checking to see if he has an active infection or is septic. I wanted to ask for prayer for my brother, Phillip McIntosh. He has had a really hard time the last month. He has only been home 3 days and is going to be sent back to UK. He is 29 yo. He has stage 4 cancer. He does not have long to live according to the doctors. Please pray for him, and my family. He has been given about 20 units of blood over the last month. Six units in the ER this morning. they are waiting for the doctors at UK to call back so he can be transferred back down there. Also, What you all and all the donations for the Hope Lodge is greatly appreciated. My family has stayed there many times. There is a lot of people who bennifit from this place. Good Morning! A snowy day in Kentucky. Just had a few prayer requests today.
Some of you may not know all of this and some may know. Hazel { Mark's wife} is having a lumpectomy on December the 9th. She has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Our cousin Margaret Hamblin { Aunt Ruby's daughter} has brain cancer and it has returned worse than ever sounds like. The Dr said he didn't know anything else to do. So we need to pray for a miracle in both of these cased. There is POWER in prayer. I pray each of you have a wonderful Christmas Let's keep Christ in Christmas. Our oldest son, Michael, attempted suicide in October. He had lost his job in July and was very down and depressed about it. He finally was able to find another job and started working 3 weeks ago and was let go today and has made mention that if he tried to kill himself again, this time he would do it right. We are very concerned about Michael and know that he needs prayer. He and his wife, Debbie and son, Brendan live in Orlando, Fla. Please pray for him and that he will find another job soon and that he will turn to God for help. Thank you! Angela D.

Now could you all say a prayer they have been monitoring a spot on her lung and the catscan came back that is has grow so they are scheduling a petscan or pepscan however you spell it. I just got off the phone with Big Buddy (Eli) and he said that he is at Central Baptist and that he has pneumonia of the brain. I have never heard of that, but then again I'm not a doctor either. Let's keep praying because we know who the almight physician is.

Fallon and TJ Fields had an 8lb 4oz baby girl yesterday. She is doing well except they noticed that she had a small soft spot and this is what happened to their little boy Landon. They are going to monitor her for a couple of weeks because her spot is bigger than what Landon's was and everything could be ok. Please pray that her soft spot does not grow up to soon because Landon had to have major surgery on his scull at two months old. He is three now and doing great but please pray for Peyton Jade. About a month ago I asked for prayer for Little Baby Bradshaw. The baby didn't have a gag reflex and couldn't swallow. They took him back to the doctor yesterday and he now has a gag reflex and can swallow and can suck a little bit of a bottle at a time. Please continue to lift this child up, he needs strength. EVERYONE PLEASE STAND IN AGREEMENT WITH ME THAT BABY MATTHEW BRADSHAW WILL BE COMPLETELY HEALED AND SENT HOME A HEALTHY BABY. I received news last night. That the baby is being more active than he usually was. However if the baby does not start to suck by Monday the Doctor is going to release him and send him home with a G Tube. I have two prayer requests. First, Clifford's granny, Rita Conway, is in ICU at the Hazard ARH. She is on a vent with pneumonia, staff in her lungs and fluid in her lungs. Her blood pressure is very low. They are thinking about putting a feeding tube in her tomorrow. Please pray for her and Clifford's family. She needs a healing and this family needs salvation. Secondly, my niece (Kenny's granddaughter) has been having seizures all day. She has had at least 6 from the last time we talked to anyone. She will be 11 years old in January. They are taking her to UK and admitting her. Please pray for this seizures to go away and that she will be healed. Also, pray for comfort for the family. Her name is Jessica Leigh Keith. Everyone, please keep my Dad in your prayers. He had an accident at work today, he got his hand caught in a piece of equipment. It pull three layers of skin off of the whole top of his hand, kind of like a really bad floor burn. He had a lot of swelling and was in a lot of pain today. Also please pray against infection. Mom’s surgery did not go well. Her cancer has spread greatly. Her surgeon said that it was coating all of her lower internal organs to the point that there was nothing they could do. He compared it to taking a pepper shaker and just shaking pepper very heavily over a salad. While he did not rule out another round of chemo, he did not feel that it would be much of a benefit. When asked about “time” all he would say was “probably not very long”. I know that God still has the final say. Please keep all of my family in your prayers as we face this. Sgt. Jeff Ritchie

I just wanted to share some bad news I received this morning. Kim Miller was in a bad wreck yesterday while driving her car. Kim hit a telephone pole and was ejected from the car. Kim has internal bleeding, broken ribs and is in ICU. Doctors are saying that she is still unresponsive. Please pray for Kim and her family. Kim has 2 girls that are still in school. Hey guys, was also gonna tell ya to be praying for one of my best friends Deanna, she just had her baby girl on Oct. 27th and the baby was perfectly healthy, but Deanna had a few pretty bad complications after almost 15 hours of labor She had the baby naturally and lost quit a bit of blood, she had to have a blood transfusion today, 2 units. Her blood pressure dropped dangerously low and she passed out about an hour after having the baby. She had the transfusion earlier today and so far so good, shes still feeling pretty weak though and said she had a pretty bad headache. The doctors said that her and baby girl (Dezirae) will probably get to go home tomorrow. Please keep her in your prayers and hope that her and lil miss Dezirae will get to go home and start their new, happy, healthy family! Love Ya! Jessie

We just got more bad new's about my aunt. She has the uterine papillary serous carcinoma and they have to do a total salpingo oopherectomy, hysterectomy, lympadectomy, omentectomy . It's a fast growing tumor and spreads quickly and they seem to think it has spread up in her lymph nodes but he really doesn't know until they go in and look around and then he will let us know what the Stage of cancer is. Please pray for the family of John and Melody Morton. Their oldest son, Travis was taken to Lexington (UK) hospital yesterday (Thursday) as he was having symptoms similar to the ones he had when they found his brain tumor approximately 4 years ago. Unfortunately, the MRI showed cancer in both the brain and spine. I am hearing it is stage 4. They have sent him on to Cincinnati Children's Hospital. John had phoned his mother, Polly, and told her he hated to tell her this, but he was losing his baby. Travis is a sophomore at LCCHS, so he's probably 14 or 15 years old. Please pray for them and pass this on to anyone else who believes in the power of prayer. An update this evening around 7:30PM stated that the doctors cannot do anything further for Travis...They say he can have chemo but they do not believe that it will help. Travis parents have left it up to Travis what he wishes to do...he wants to try the chemo and do it in Lexington where he is familiar with everyone. He said he is right with the Lord. PLEASE pray for this little family. Travis was a student of mine when I was principal at Letcher Elementary school......this family has suffered so very, very much! **This family has a second son 6 years old and has juvenile diabetes....he must have around the clock care. We have another bad report, Jody called and told us that the Dr. came in and told him they had done everything they could do for Alger. He said it would take a miracle for him to pull through this. The lung that Alger was supposed to have gotten today had some infection in it so UK said it was too risky to do the transplant. So they released Alger around seven tonight. Everyone that dont know my mom is not doing good @ all she has been in the hospital since thursday September 10th and then was put in ICU on sunday September 13th and was then placed on life support “mechanical ventilation” that following weds and is still on life support and today makes the 6th day with very little improvement, she has double Pnemonia that we believe is to be viral which is very hard to treat with antibotics and also has ARDS which is acute respitory distress syndrome and along with that she has severe sepsis which is a extremely dangerous infection and she also has yeast in her lungs and is swelling, on top of all that she had very weak lungs to begin with! She is a very sick woman and the doctors have told us that with all the treatment that she is recieveing is all that they can do and her journey has been and will cont. to be like a rollercoaster going up and down meaning that imporvements that she makes one day is a step foward but like we have noticed over the last 6 days is that sometimes taking a step foward means u may take 2 steps back so each day is a fight for her and even tho she has made a lil impovement here and there in different areas it seems somethings also going backwards so right now its just a wait a see thing and all we can do is pray and leave it in the Lords hands b/c he has brought her outta this before when there was no hope 5 years ago when she had cancer and i believe in my heart of hearts that through prayer the Lord will bring her outta this!!! So i am asking everyone to Pray for my Mommy "Debra Ashley" and send this to everyone on your email list and ask them to do the same b/c the more prayer the better and i know that the Lords will, will be done and all i pray is that he heals her and makes her lungs like brand new and just blesses her! so please ask everyone you know to pray! foward this on and ask for the churches to pray and start these prayer lines everywhere b/c i believe that thru prayer and thru God anything is possible and that He can bring her outta this! Thanks for taking the time to read this and please PRAY FOR MY MOMMY!!!!! And for those that dont know her she is the most kind, gracious, woman you will every meet and would do anything for anybody, she is a good hearted Christian lady that really needs your help! thanks! Gus, It has been a while since you all have heard from me or about me but Randy and I think we should get truth out about what is going on with my health. I started having problems way back in March and had to have 1.5 liters of fluid tapped off of my left lung in April. I felt okay for about a month or so then started feeling tried all the time and having a weighted feeling on my chest and was treated for pneumonia and pluersey a few times. Until about 3 or 4 weeks ago and then the doctors took a few more chest x-rays and found out my lungs looked even worse than they did in March/ April. We went back to St. Joe's Sept 8th and they removed nearly 3 LITERS of fluid, just from the left side. I went back to the doctor Thursday the 17th and they took x-rays and was told the x-rays look the same and the did, if not a little worse than before the tapped the lung. The pain and discomfort of the constant weight is frustrating and I need prayer for patience because it is hard to be kind when you feel like trash. I of course want our prayers to be answered and be healed. But I wanted to be a good wife and Mother, and they deserve better than they are getting with me hurting and struggling to breath. I am not one to send out mass email's for a prayer request unless I truly know the person involved. My mom asked me to pray and get others to pray for her next door neighbors. The family found out that their daughter (Anna), who is fifteen was told to meet with the doctor Wednesday evening (after 5:00 p.m.) because the doctor thought she had cancer. This diagnosis has devastated the parents. They have four children ages 17, 15, 9 and 2. I am asking that you pray as God would lead you but also pray for God's comfort for Anna and her family. This family lives in Virginia beside my parents. My mother and father were visiting with them outside when they doctor's office called. My mother said she has never seen such instant devastation and fear on a person's face (referring to the mother after she took the call). A parent's worst fear is to lose a child. Please pray for my family. I have a 30 yr old bipolar son with drug addiction/repeated od's. My husband passed 3 yrs ago,no insurance, my 16 yr old and I survive on my disability. The house my husband was caretaker of over 25 yrs, will be torn down for a new road. We will soon be homeless. My credit is terrible, we had filed bankruptcy when his medical bills was over $100,000. I can't afford the high rent in our area, public housing list is 2 yrs.God has provided for us this far, some days I get weak and can use the extra prayers. My son will be losing his medical this month, and his bipolar meds are very expensive. Teasha (Haynes) Sloas, who used to come to church with us quite a bit, had her baby on Thursday in Lexington. He had low oxygen levels, so they gave him some oxygen. My son's best friend has cancer (Hodgkin's Lymphoma). He is 11 years old and is not doing well, at all. He was diagnosed with this cancer 2 weeks ago and the tumor is next to his jugular, over and entwined in it. It has moved his wind pipe over a inch, making it hard for him to breathe. The tumor is the size of a large eggplant and is sitting right above his heart. The news at the doctor yesterday was good and not so good. My kidney function has come up to 11 1/2 percent from the 11 percent it had been. However, all of the medicine has caused other parts of my body to become toxic. If I want to feel better I need dialysis (night dialysis should not interfere with daily activities) until I get a kidney or God intervenes miraculously. I want all of my church members to pray if I have to take dialysis I need strength not weakness (sometimes weakness can result). I need my family to pray for me, Bea, Jaime, Daniel and Kristen. this is one of my coder’s mother-in-law. Her name is Deby Miniard, thanks so much! She’s in really bad shape. She has cellulitis on her leg, and now has MRSA. They already did one surgery to get some of the infection. But Dr. Sharma has to go back into her leg and redo her knee replacement next week because the infection is so bad. They have to take her knee out for 6-8 days and put in a spacer with antibiotics, and then after the 6-8 days, they have to open her leg back up and put her knee back in, it sounds terrible. She’s got a rough road ahead of her. Dr. Sharma is really tore up about it, because he said this is the first case he’s had that someone got infected from a knee replacement. Please remember my daughter's babysitter, Louise Madden in your prayers. She is the hospital right now for a blood stream infection. She has several underlying health conditions and has had several bouts with pneumonia due to the fact that she had a benign tumor removed from her lung a couple years ago. Yesterday while hospitalized for a procedure she had the day before to clear up the infection she had a heart attack. As of this morning I found out some more news concerning my Dad. I have told some of you some wrong information and want to correct myself. My Dads kidney function was down to 11% last friday. The Dr.'s in lexington DID mention dialysis to him. But Dad told them NO Dialysis and they went ahead and put him on the transplant list. The transplant list was the 1 to 3 years, when I thought we had nothing to be concerned about for 1-3 yrs. Now what my family and I have to do is find a donor. He Dr's don't want the donor to be me. However, if my kidneys are healthy and I have both kidneys and no protein in my urine then I will be good to go. So I am asking everyone to please be in prayer with me that God leads us to the donor and that God just takes ABSOLUTE control. I also have a friend who is having is biopsy on her thyroid thursday, please remember her. Please continue to pray for my Dad's family. We lost his youngest sister( my aunt) yesterday. As you all know my dad went to the Dr. in lexington today. Once agian God has answered my prayers. The doctors in lexington agreed that the meds Dr. Chandarhonda wanted to put Dad on would NOT help him. They went ahead and put Dad on the transplant list for a new kidney. They are not wanting me to be the donor because I may have the beginning stages of this disease now. I have to go once a month for kidney test . No dialysis was my prayer for so long...I am just totally relieved! I am happy that Dad is on the transplant list because we will be facing that fact anywhere from a year to three years was the diagnosis from the Lexington Dr's.

I Thank You All so very much for your support and your prayers. This is not yet over by no means! We all still have to come together and pray against things like this. Continue to be in prayer for my Dads salvation and healing. I think his healing will come from the new kidney!

Hi everyone, For those of you who don't know the background, Steve Berger is a pharmacist that Shawn & I worked with when we were in Pikeville. A couple of weeks ago, his daughter, Allison, started having headaches. She's a very active 9-year old who plays soccer & takes karate lessons. Her pediatrician diagnosed her with a strained muscle in her neck & gave her a course of steroids. The steroids helped & she returned to her activities. Her pain returned shortly & they treated her with another round of steroids. Same story. After an MRI, she was diagnosed with a spinal cord tumor in her cervical vertebrae. She had the tumor removed at UK last week. After the surgery, she has experienced some right-sided weakness that has been improving with physical therapy. The family got some very bad news today. Her pathology reports came back & showed a high-grade astrocytoma. This is basically a cancer of the nerve cells. The high-grade tumor that Allison has been diagnosed with has a very low survival rate in children--less than 25% at 5 years. These people are very good friends of ours, and they have a very strong faith on Christ. I'm sure they would appreciate Allison being added to everyone's prayer lists at church. Here are some specific things you can pray for:
1. Pray for guidance as they make decisions about Allison's treatment.
2. Pray for their peace as they deal with their own emotions.
3. Pray for their finances. Steve is their only income & he has been off work for several days now & is likely going to require more time off.
4. Pray for healing for Allison & that they can someday look back on this whole ordeal & see God's hand at work. Joe

I just got a text from Jaime. Derricks surgery started at 12:30. Right now they are placing the coils. They are also going to have to put some in his veins and arteries. She says it is a fairly complicated procedure. She asks that we pray they can complete everything today and that he doesn't have to stay in ICU. Trish

So, I went to Dr. Carlson's office for the second opinion. He said that what the Dr. said at UK wasn't bad medicine. In the US that is the method preferred, not taking the fibula, but taking the AVM out. However, he said that isn't the method he prefers. He said that they have had high success by going into my femoral artery and vein, lace it into the AVM and fill it with platinum coils and sterile super glue. After that, just watch it for awhile and see if the AVM shrinks on its own. They hope that when the AVM shrinks my bone will actually reform itself, i wouldn't lose any teeth, and would get feeling back in my chin. So, I went to see the international radiologist, Dr. Kvamme, to get all the information on this type of embolization. He told us that if the AVM was contained in the mandible and not anywhere else, he has high hopes that the embolization will be all they need to do. He said that they may have to do the embolization more than once, because of the AVM's ability to find more blood flow. And if they embolizations don't seem to be working I will have to have the reconstruction, but Dr. Carlson can do it from my hip. Dr. Kvamme wanted me to get an MRI to see if the AVM is contained and I got a call saying it was. They actually said it was exactly how they wanted it to look. They told me that about 1-2 yrs ago they embolized an AVM in a woman that look a lot like mine and with one treatment she is having remineralization of the mandible and not had to have any other procedures. I got a call yesterday that they have a date for my surgery. I will go in Monday, Oct. 5th for an appointment with the anestesiologist @ 2 pm. Then, on Tuesday, Oct. 6th, I will go in to register at 9 am and go into surgery around 10 ish. The procedure will probably be 6-8 hours, but Dr. Kvamme told me the risks are fairly low with this type of embolization. Thanks for all the prayers. They work! Love, Derrick Porter

I talked to Dr. Street (my doc in Pikeville) and he talked to a Dr. in Knoxville, Tn. His name is Dr. Eric Carlson and has experience in treating AVM. He told Dr. Street he was very interested in seeing me and to go over my case. Teamed with the Neuroradiologist, who graduated from John Hopkins, he says he normally coils the AVM, as long as there is only one artery feeding the mass, and watches it with Panorex scans every 6 months and another angiography in a year. If the mass shrivels and finds no new blood flow, then the only other thing to do is to fill my jaw with hip bone and put in the implants, which can all be done from the inside of my mouth. However, if he looks at my scans and doesn't think embolisation will work, or the AVM finds another blood supply, they will have to take it out but he said he has never had to use a fibula. I have an appointment with Dr. Carlson and Dr. Kvamme (the Neuroradiologist) Thursday the 17th at 8am. Please pray everything goes well. Love you all, Derick Porter

A couple weeks ago Dr. Street found a large mass 4.6 cm long x 2.0 cm high x 1.2 cm wide in my left mandible (lower jaw). I had a biopsy scheduled for Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, @ 1pm. During the biopsy Dr. Street drilled a hole about the size of the end of an ink pen in my mandible. When he pulled the drill out blood shot about 5 ft across the room and I lost about 2-3 units of blood in under 5 minutes out of that small hole. In Pikeville, they do not have the ability to shut the blood off to my jaw except for a very invasive procedure, so I was flown to Lexington. Thank God the blood had stopped when I got there and I didn't have to have emergency surgery or any units of blood.

Dr. Street concluded that I have a very rare lesion called AVM or arteriovenous malformation. UK I think has only seen 2 cases, counting mine, in the past 15 years. AVM is a group of veins and arteries that grow and expand for no known reason, they think it is congenital (from birth). There are two different kinds, called low flow or high flow. The one in me is most likely high flow due to the amount of blood I lost in such a small amount of time.

I have an appointment in Lexington September 8th to set the date for the surgery. Most likely they will have to completely remove the lesion, bone and all, and they will take bone from my hips to reconstruct my mandible. I will be hospitalized 3-7 days after the surgery and will have my jaw wired for 2-4 weeks after that.

I will not be able to complete this year of medical school, but I will be able to go back next year.

They have put him to sleep for the biopsy and they called the family in because they don't think it is going to go good. I am starting a little late this morning. My cousin Derek, which just turned 21 had a motor cycle accident back in February, he had a very bad head injury and has been in a coma since. Last night he was sent to Cabell Huntington Hospital, had a massive stroke and wasn’t expected to live thru the night. I got home at 3am this morning. Bare with me today. He is stable at the moment, his mom signed an DNR last night. So I guess its just a waiting game now. Thanks Stephanie Williams

Here is a report on Pastor and a request for everyone to pray. His kidney function is at 11%, which is not good. The doctor changed his medicines around and he has to go back in 30 days. If his function has not improved he is going to have to start looking at a kidney transplant. Please pray that the meds change and diet the doctor put him on will work. Thank you all so very much for your prayers. I am thrilled to say that my Dad got an awesome report from his Dr. this evening. The doctor said that dad has glomulersclerosis ( which can be treated with medicine). He is calling UK for a second opinion though. He and the Dr. from UK will get together and firgure out a treatment plan for dad. He says that dialysis and a transplant haven't come into play yet. Dads bloodpressure was 129/72 (GREAT) and his sugar was good. I am just so overcome by how much God is blessing all of my family. When we came out of the Dr's office you could see the relief on my dads face...what a feeling that was for me! God is amazing and I give him all the Thanks and Glory! My friend Cindy had good news when Doctors at University Hospital in Cleveland did a Full Body Scan: they told her that they saw No sign of Cancer in her body- she had the surgery for Pancreatic Cancer in July 2009. She had Chemo and Radiation and is on a Trial program. Now she only has 3 more rounds of Chemo and should be done by middle of February. This past Tuesday ( Jan 12 ) she went in for Treatment and she was all confused and out of sorts and they did a fingerstick and her blood Sugar was over 600. They found an infection in her incision site again. SO she was in the Hospital in Cleveland Ohio for 3 days and is home now....Please keep her in your Prayers for Complete Healing and Recovery... Doctors were amazed at her excellent Attitude and Humor.... Jean from Ohio

My friend Cindy started her Chemo 24/7 and Radiation ( 5 days a week) on Sept 21, 2009 doing ok, nausea hits her very unexpectedly, anytime..anywhere.... for the next 49 days.... Correction: her middle son lives with her and he is Bipolar. Her Youngest son is taking Family Leave from his work to drive his Mom to Cleveland, Ohio -- for the Treatments. and today she called me to let me know that her sister's husband passed away, so I wasn't able to visit with her after work tonight when I got off... My friend Cindy had intensive surgery for Pancreatic Cancer on June 30, 2009. She went back to the hospital in Cleveland Ohio a week ago Saturday through the ER, her blood sugar was very high, heart rate high, Blood pressure very low and was dehydrated and she had an infection. She just came home on Monday. (July 27 ). She will be facing Chemo and/or chemo and Radiation. She needs prayer for: encouragement, good attitude, strength, healing of mind and body, and Hope. Her children are grown, she has 2 grandsons, one she hasn't seen for 7 years because the mother took off.... Her sons are a great help to her and need prayers to have courage to help their Mother through this. Her youngest son lives with her and he has his own medical issues - Bipolar. Then he has some dried blood in his ear where they put the tubes in so he has to go back to UK tomorrow to have that removed. Pastor just called and said he has been told that Wayne Herald has been diagnosed with 4th stage brain cancer, He is in a lot of pain and they are going to start cemo today. The doctors are not giving them much hope. But, we know the GREAT PHYSICIAN. We need a miracle today, this hour, for our brother. Please fast and pray for this situation. My cousin came through the surgery, it took them 3-1/2 hours and the ended up having to remove a blood clot that it had caused in his arm. He is in ICU but thanks to God stable as of now.) My cousin was just taken by ambulance to UK, the doctors had put in a central line that was too big for his main artery and he is now in critical condition and in great danger of bleeding out before they can remove it. They could not do it here in Hazard, because he is on blood thinners and they were afraid it would be fatal to try. Please pray for him and the family. He is only 25 and has a long history of health problems that may interfere with whatever they may have planned so please raise your voices in prayer for him please. Thank you all. She said that the nurse told her that she was really sick. They asked the family if they wanted them to resusciate her if her heart stopped and they said no because she didn't want them to do anything. I just came from checking on Lindsay’s dad, she wanted me to pass along the news. They done 3 biopsies of his kidney and she asked that we pray for it to come back as good as possible. She is praying that he not have to have anything major like dialysis or transplant for the next several years. The procedure went really well and he didn’t have any pain, just some pressure. I also went up to check on Earline’s mom and she had a really bad night but they have turned the vent down again this morning. Her BP is still low though. Lois

Please continue to pray for my dad. He went to the Dr. this evening and his creatinine was 4.2 again. The doctor talked of dialysis and transplant again. First dad has to have a biospy Aug. 6th I believe. Then after the reading of the biopsy he said he would go from there. Please pray against dialysis and transplant. Of course we want what God wants and he knows whats best for my dad. Please pray for my mom and I too. I am having a difficult time with all of this and I am constantly trying to figure all of this out. We all need comfort and understanding. Sometimes we forget to pray when a prayer request is sent out. But when it comes to someone close to us we want everyone to pray. Dad got to come home yesterday. He is a little weak but that is to be expected. His creatinine was 3.9 yesterday so thats better. The doctor put his biopsy off until later to see if his kidneys still improve. God has truly answered our prayers and I thank you all for praying. Unfortunatley Dad's test came back bad. His creatin was 4.7 which is high. The doctors office called around 2pm and told Dad to come back to the hospital that he was going to be admitted. Dad of course didn't want to go but the Dr told him that if he didn't that in 1 week he would be on dialysis. He has blood and a high level of protein in his urine and his output number was bad also. Yesterday he had 16% function of his kidneys today it had dropped to 13% .....overnight. Just please pray for a better treatment other than dialysis or transplant.....and for Gods will to be done. My parents just got back from dad's dr. appointment. They are going to redue some tests on his kidneys to make sure that the levels were correct. If so then the doctor said they would go from there. The doctor told dad that if the levels were correct that his life would change drasticl....which means dialysis. Yesterday my family found out that my father is in pre renal failure or renal failure...I say this because we don't know exactly how severe it is yet but Yes it is severe. He has a Dr. appointment today at 6:00pm. My father and mother are not saved. I believe God has put this on our family to wake us all up. Please pray that he will get as good of a report as possible and no drastic treatment is necessary. Please pray for my parents salvation. My daughter in law's Uncle and his family needs Prayers. His name is Jeff Wells. My daughter in law was telling me. That He is in Lexington Hospital. That they had to fly him out last week. He was in so much pain that he passed out. When they got him to Lexington Hospital. They ran test on him and said; He has a Gall Stone that is 5 centimeters. He is trying to pass it. It is like passing a watermelon through a straw. He has so much infection in his Gall Bladder that they can't do Surgery on him. He just lost his job a couple weeks ago. He worked in the Coal Mines for several years Also, His wife just got out of Lexington Hospital earlier last week from surgery She has Chronic Crone's Disease. Please remember this family in prayer. Thanks for the prayers, keep praying!! He is in icu and so far they have not had to start the ventilator! Praise God! Last night was rough they gave him some medication that didn't work for him, it caused him to not know any of us. My sister-in-law JoAnna Is In the hospital. She got put in today. My mother-in-law wanted me to request prayer for JoAnna. She has gotten were she can't walk at all. I have a couple of people I need prayer for. The first is my great aunt Barb Baker. She is not doing well. They found a spot on her lung and everything has seemed to go down hill from there. She is very weak and has water on her brain also. She is not saved either. Please pray for her body and soul. Pray for her daughters also. They are taking care of her right now. Also, Nate Justin, who I work with, also needs prayer. He has lung cancer and it takes everything in him to draw a breath. He is in the hospital now and things are not looking very good. He is not saved and needs a touch from God. That's the only thing that could help him now. Please pray for him. He's a wonderful guy. -- Tab Hanlon

My friend *Glenna Gamble* ask me. Could we please Pray for her husband *Bill Gamble*? He has been trying to get his disability for two & a half years. He was turned down again today. He has had a heart attack. He is not well. He isn't able to provide for his family. His wife works to provide for their home. She drives daily to London to her job. They have 2 children at home. Please pray it is God's well for Bill to get his disability. Thanks so much.

Some of Delbert's family called the clinic this morning and said that the surgery was a success!! The Dr. that did the surgery said that his lungs were much worse than he had thought. There was so much scar tissue that it was hard to see where everything hooked up but God was watching over. The next 48 hrs are very critical because his body has to accept these organs. The fact that he was able to get the transplant and that the surgery was so successful is a miracle in itself. Just keep praying for another miracle, that being his body accepting these organs. I just got a call from a friend that Delbert Miller (aka Short) was on his way to Vanderbilt for a double lung transplant. Please pray for him. This is a rough surgery, very long, and very risky. My Mom and Dad are facing a very important desicion right now. They are working on getting 3 young boys into their home as foster children. My aunt Karen currently has them in her home, while Mom and Dad work on the training to become foster parents. These boys are the ages 10 (Zach), 4 (Jordan), and 2 (Corey). The boys have had very rough couple of days (maybe a lot longer than that) and need our prayers and love desperately. I know that the future is very uncertain at this time, but I also know the my God has everything in His hand, and knows what is best for these children. Please be in agreement with us as we pray for the best outcome for these boys no matter what it might be and that God gives these babies peace. Thanks! Samantha

Hello Church Family I'm back home and feeling better. Most people didn't know that I have been in the hospital. One of my grafts(the vein from my leg) from my bypass surgery occluded 90% and I had to have a heart cath and get a stent to open it back up. I am feeling much better, but am on strict restrictions for a week, which Sam is making very sure that I follow. I would greatly appreciate everyone's prayers to aid in my recovery. Hopefully this has taken care of all the symptoms that I've been having for the last while and I will get back to feeling more like a normal person. Lesa

Have a Prayer request for Ricky Wells. He was put in the Hospital this Evening. He has been swelling behind his ear. He got up hurting and the swelling has moved down into his jaw and throat. He said she was really ill last night and couldn't get her to go to the Dr. She finally went a 11:00 this morning and it is something with her heart and they are going to do a heart cath shortly. I have a Praise Report I request prayer Saturday Morning for my sister in law "Jo Anna Combs Barker". She had several seizures Saturday Morning. And went into a coma state. The doctor's done a spinal tap on her Sunday. We found out that she has meningitis. She started running a 102 temp. They started her on antibodics. Then yesterday she came out of the coma state and she knew everyone. She mumbled when she talked. Now, today she is sitting up talking. No temperature. And eating. We know God has preformed another one of his miracles. The doctors says she isn't out of the woods as of yet. And she has to stay in the hospital for 2 weeks. But this young lady is a miracle. She has MS. She isn't able to get to go to church. But she loves going so much. She lives with her parents. They don't attend a church, none of her family goes to church. She wants them to take her. Please keep her and her family in prayer. Thanks to All who has Prayed for this great works of our Father.

So they have to go in through the chest and back to complete the surgery. She has been in a lot of pain from the cancer so please keep her in your prayers.

Our neighbors little boy got hit in the eye with a fishing bobber. His mom took him to the eye Dr and they said he was lucky he didn't loose his vision in that eye. They said he would have to stay in the bed and take it easy cause if it starts bleeding again that he could still loose his eye sight. His name is name is Dylan and he is only 5 years old.

My brother, Phillip McIntosh, had his 3rd surgery since August on Friday. He is having a rough time dealing with having cancer at the age of 29. He has been diagnosed for a little over a year now. Dear Friends, I come to you tonight with yet another prayer request, this one for myself and my family. Tomorrow (Wednesday) morning at 9 a.m. my Dad (Tom Richardson) will undergo a fine needle biopsy of his lungs. Last month, he came home from a camping/hunting trip with “allergy” symptoms. His doctor ordered a chest x-ray because his breathing was labored – it was April 28th and his x-ray was clear. Three weeks ago he started having a high fever 103+. We finally convinced him to go back to the doctor and he was promptly admitted with pneumonia. As of last Friday, May 29th, multiple nodules and spores have encompassed both lungs. All tests for infectious or fungal diseases have come back negative. Dad now has blood clots in his lungs and legs, his heart has enlarged and he has pulmonary hypertension. His doctors tell us that not only do they believe he has lung cancer but they believe it has accelerated at such a rate that there are no viable treatment options. Tomorrow’s biopsy should give us a firm diagnoses. His doctors would prefer an open lung biopsy, but due to his weakened condition and the blood clots, the risks are too great. I know we have a God of miracles. I feel selfish asking Him for another - He’s already given me so many. I also realize that God will see me through whatever He has in store for us. I just don’t want it to be this! I know how terribly childish that sounds, but to put it into pretty words would be hypocritical of me. I don’t want to face this and I desperately don’t want my Daddy to face it. He is 58 years old, very healthy and NOT a smoker. In April, he and my brother finished building a two-story barn. He works in the garden daily; hunts, hikes and camps every chance he gets. He retired two years ago. He’s always busy doing something with our church, my grandpa or for my brother and me. He stoned the foundation of the house last summer, is our residential pool man, handyman, and cab service for the kids. We tease my mom about being the family matriarch but my Dad…he’s the glue that makes us stick. Being a family is more important to him than anything the world could offer. I ask that you be prayer for us as we face this difficult time. I worry about my mom who is trying to shoulder and shelter us as much as possible. My brother is still trying to prove that he’s the tough guy. My Dad is putting on strong front for all of us; yet, I can’t begin to imagine how frightened he must be. As for me, I just don’t want to do this! Please lift us up in your prayers. Celesta
