POPCORN (PC)
The standard popcorn stitch is worked as
follows:
Work 5 double crochets in the chain or stitch indicated.
Drop the loop from the hook.
Insert
the hook in the top of the first double crochet of the 5-dc group.
Pick up the dropped loop.
Draw through the stitch.
Ch1.
Now you can "pop" the popcorn to the right or wrong side of the work as needed.

VIEWER TIP
I have a tip for those of us who are disabled or arthritic and need help holding onto hooks. I have tried pencil holders etc but too big for most hooks. The most customizable for me has been T-shirt yarn, I actually used the hem that is normally discarded.
Ed. I start with a piece of tape at end of fabric strip and wound tape and fabric around crochet needle. I can make it as thin or fat, short or long as I need it. I cut the end into two strips kinda like ole fashion bandages, and tie off.
Viola comfy crochet.
May you experience God's love every moment!

Re: ReadAPattern - Streamlined Sweater Jacket Pattern
Hi,
I am attempting to make a sweater for myself.
I finished the back of the sweater with no problem.
Now I am doing the left front. The directions say: Ch 63.
Work pat Rows 1 and 2, then continue to rep Row 2 for pat,
dec 1 st at center front on next row, then every 4 rows 18 times more.
I am good up to the unlined part and I know how to decrease.
My questions are: (1) What is the center front?
And (2) Do I decrease after 4 rows or do I decrease on the 4the row (18 times)?
I would very much appreciate any help you can give me.
Thanks so much!
Linda
<< Reply >>
(1) When you make the Left Front you will be working decreases along the edge where the sweater will meet in the front (hence, center front).
(2) Your first decrease will be on Row 3, then work a decrease every 4 rows for a total of 19 decreases.
When you make the Right Front you will do the decreases on opposite edge.
RE: Post on the Crochetnmore Fan Page
My daughter and I have just started watching your beginner videos. Thanks so much. I crocheted a little years ago, and couldn't remember much. She is left handed and I was having trouble teaching her. The videos are such a big help with that. Looking forward to trying some of your patterns.

RE: ABC Blanket
Well I've finished my blanket... I'm a little disappointed in the appearance. I don't understand what happened the first 3 rows turned out great... The last 3 rows are not. The puffs, no matter what I seemed to do, ended up on the back side :-(. I probably won't give this to anyone... And not sure I have the heart to rip hours worth of work apart. So i don't know what will become of it. But could you explain why the puffs are all on the wrong side?

Sounds like you may have accidentally skipped a row of single crochets.
I've made this afghan numerous times... so many, in fact,
that I have learned to incorporate a border while making the
actual afghan instead of adding it later.

Re: Row_Count_Purple_Heart_Coaster
So I wanted to thank you for posting the instructions on your purple
heart coaster pattern I love the full video on how to do it. Since
your ribbon pattern is probably more difficult, I'll probably print
the heart pattern and follow your video on how to do it. By the way on
your heart pattern, if I were you, I wouldn't post the whole video box
on the website, cause after part one plays it doesn't go on to part
two. You have to physically go to YouTube, look up your videos and
play part two. So I would just post the two links to your video if I
were you. But I'm excited to crochet the heart to learn how to change
the colors for the ribbon. Thanks again for everything, and thanks for
your reply! God Bless You
Happy crocheting!
From,
Charlie Pedrett

Subject: Error in Dishcloth
Hello
The subject says error in dishcloth but I don’t think this is an error I just have a question.
I was not able to get 2 cloths out of 1 skein of the cotton yarn. Do you always get 2 cloths?
I love this pattern by the way! It is so much quicker than the others I was using!
kerry
<< Reply >>
Each dish cloth takes less than 2 ounces of 4 ply cotton yarn.
I normally work with a cone of yarn instead of individual balls.
Each individual ball of Sugar N Cream or Peaches & Crème brand yarns
in a solid color contain 2.5 ounces of yarn, therefore you would only
be able to make one cloth per skein.
Re: Soft Soap Dress
I just saw this pattern and wondered- what is the hump? I have never seen that in all my 40 something years of crochet.
Taylor Famil
<< Reply >>
Each chain has a top loop and a bottom loop on the front side
and on the back there is a little hump.
When you make the foundation chain (the chains made to begin your
project) the front side of the chain will look like little hearts sitting
on top of each other. When you flip the chain over to the back side
it looks like a little row of humps... work into those humps.
I specify to work in the "hump of the chain" in many of my patterns.
Hope this helps.
Subject: Closed Chevron Stitch
Hi Lisa I'm a little confused about a pattern that's asking for a foundation chain with multiples of 11 + 1 +1 . I'm not sure if what my total should be either 24 (11+11+1+1) or 25 (11+1+11+1+1)
I'm hoping you can clear this up for me as I'm eager to start.
Thanks
Helen
<< Reply >>
The main portion of the foundation chain should be a multiple of 11.
Then add two more... not sure why they would say +1 +1.
Is this pattern online?
Lisa
<< Helen's Reply >>
Yes it's on YouTube called the close chevron pattern

I tried to view the video with the link you sent me and it didn't come up
so I searched youtube for "close chevron stitch" and found the video here:
http://youtu.be/KFcWl5NaF8A
(it seems a letter was missing from the link you sent)
Anyway, the written pattern is on this page:
http://newstitchaday.com/how-to-crochet-the-close-chevron-stitch/
Just make your foundation chain in a multiple of 11 and then add two more stitches
to begin.
Lisa
Hello Lisa:
when I reattach the yarn to start the toe section, if I start with the first unworked stitch of sole, how will the toe section connect with the heel section on the sides???
do you have a video of these booties? Im running out of time:( please help me…..
G
<< Reply >>
When the ribbon is inserted it draws the bootie together.
The heel and toe do not actually join.
Sorry, I do not have a video at this time.
Hope you enjoyed this pattern.

HELP!
I have been trying to figure out how to get the pattern for the corner spider web that I pinned on Pinterest. I have gone to the site, but for the life of me I can’t find it!
I am hoping to get ahold of it today as I am where I can print the pattern. I won’t be near a printer again for another week.
And my Mom is coming to visit and is going to help me make one!
Thanks in advance!

Re: How to Crochet - Two Strands Together
Comments:
Thank you. Do you have to use a larger hook to do this method?
Stacie Jackson

Not all the time... as long as you can complete the stitches okay you can choose the hook size. Keep in mind that the smaller the hook the tighter the fabric will be.

Subject: Baby_Booties_2
Hello
I am hoping that you may be able to help me here. I have a 4mth old grandson and am trying to make him a pair of booties. Can you tell me how to make a pattern of my choice larger so it will fit him.
I find great patterns but they are only for newborn babies or small babies. So I would like to know, if I find a pattern I like what do I need to do to enlarge it. I am only a beginner.
Thanks look forward to hearing from you
Jenny
<< Reply >>
Each pattern is different, therefore would require
different alterations to enlarge it.

RE: Message on the Crochetnmore Fan Page
Could you please tell me the size of the Double Ruffle Baby Afghan that your pattern makes. I realize I can make it any size I want but would like to know what size your pattern makes. It's a very pretty pattern. Thank you in advance. PS I tried earlier to send a message and don't think it went through but apologize if it did & your receiving 2 of the same message. Thanks again Lynn M

The afghan as written should measure somewhere around 3 feet wide.
Keep in mind that stitch tension may vary from one crocheter to another.

This book
is a wonderful addition to any crochet library.
I've had numerous requests over the years of what to crochet for
boys.
Crobots are definitely the answer!
This 96-page book is filled with numerous types of Crobot patterns
as well as well-illustrated instructions for the
crochet stitches, assembly stitches and other embellishments used
in the patterns.
The patterns are well written, some of the book is written in a
small font but the pictures are wonderful. NOTE:
This book comes to you with a safety warning regarding the small
parts used in the patterns.
Therefore, please use your own discretion as to the age of the child

"Laughter is an instant vacation." - Milton Berle
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Humor provides us with a valuable tool for
maintaining an inner strength in the midst
of outer turmoil. - Brian Deery
Although he was a qualified meteorologist, Hopkins ran up a terrible record of forecasting for the TV news program. He became something of a local joke when a newspaper began keeping a record of his predictions and showed that he'd been wrong almost three hundred times in a single year.
That kind of notoriety was enough to get him fired. He moved to another part of the country and applied for a similar job. One blank on the job application called for the reason for leaving his previous position. The weathercaster wrote with great honesty, "The climate didn't agree with me."
There's a story about an MIT student who spent an entire summer going to the Harvard football field every day wearing a black and white striped shirt, walking up and down the field for ten or fifteen minutes throwing birdseed, blowing a whistle, and then walking off the field.
At the end of the summer, it came time for the first Harvard home football game, the referee walked onto the field and blew the whistle, and the game had to be delayed for a half hour to wait for the birds to get off of the field.
The guy wrote his thesis on this, and graduated.
A pastor had a kitten that climbed up a tree in his backyard and then was afraid to come down. The pastor coaxed, offered warm milk, etc. The kitty would not come down. The tree was not sturdy enough to climb, so the pastor decided that if he tied a rope to his car and drove away so that the tree bent down, he could then reach up and get the kitten. He did all this, checking his progress in the car frequently, then figured if he went just a little bit further, the tree would be bent sufficiently for him to reach the kitten.
But as he moved a little further forward....the rope broke. The tree went "boing!" and the kitten instantly sailed through the air-out of sight. The pastor felt terrible. He walked all over the neighborhood asking people if they'd seen a little kitten. No. Nobody had seen a stray kitten. So he prayed, "Lord, I just commit this kitten to Your keeping," and went on about his business.
A few days later he was at the grocery store, and met one of his church members. He happened to look into her shopping cart and was amazed to see cat food. Now this woman was a cat hater and everyone knew it, so he asked her, "Why are you buying cat food when you hate cats so much?"
She replied, "You won't believe this," and told him how her little girl had been begging her for a cat, but she kept refusing. Then a few days before, the child had begged again, so the mom finally told her little girl, "Well, if God gives you a cat, I'll let you keep it." (You can see where this is going). She told the pastor, "I watched my child go out in the yard, get on her knees, and ask God for a cat. And really, Pastor, you won't believe this, but I saw it with my own eyes. A kitten suddenly came flying out of the blue sky, with its paws spread out, and landed right in front of her."
A couple just started their Lamaze class and they were given an activity requiring the husband to wear a bag of sand - to give him an idea of what it feels like to be pregnant. The husband stood up and shrugged saying, "This doesn't feel so bad."
The instructor then dropped a pen and asked the husband to pick it up.
"You want me to pick up the pen as if I were pregnant, the way my wife would do it?" the husband asked.
"Exactly," replied the instructor.
To the delight of the other husbands, he turned to his wife and said, "Honey, pick up that pen for me."
Little Bobby was spending the weekend with his grandmother after a particularly trying week in kindergarten.
His grandmother decided to take him to the park on Saturday morning. It had been snowing all night and everything was beautiful.
His grandmother remarked, "Doesn't it look like an artist painted this scenery? Did you know God painted this just for you?"
Bobby said, "Yes, God did it and he did it left handed."
This confused his grandmother a bit, and she asked him "What makes you say God did this with his left hand?"
"Well," said Bobby, "we learned at Sunday School last week that Jesus sits on God's right hand."
My four-year-old daughter, Cindy, had just learned
to play the card game crazy eights, and it quickly
became her favorite pastime.
One afternoon, I played endless games, keeping one
eye on the clock as I waited for my sister to arrive.
When the doorbell rang, a look of disappointment
crossed Cindy's face.
"That's okay, sweetie," I said. "You can play with
your kitten instead."
"But," she wailed, "she doesn't know how to hold
the cards!"
TEACHER: Where would we be today if no one had ever been curious?"
JOHNNY: In the Garden of Eden?
A young man was sitting next to me in one of the two "husband chairs" in a ladies' clothing store.
After 30 minutes and five outfits, the fellow's wife came out of the changing room again.
He looked at her and immediately said: "That looks good on you. Get that one."
"Honey," she replied, "this is what I was wearing when we came in."
My friend had finally relented and agreed to join
her husband and sons for a day of canoeing on a
nearby river.
Extremely low water levels due to a dry summer
forced them to push, drag or carry the canoe as
often as paddle it.
At home the next day she announced, "That's the
first and last time I take a canoe for a walk!"
My class was touring the ASPCA, oohing and aahing over the
lost- and-waiting-to-be-adopted animals. One of my third
grade boys was gazing intently at an elaborate aquarium
full of different species of fish.
"They're beautiful, aren't they," I commented.
He looked at me thoughtfully, then replied, "Yes, but I
don't understand...how can anyone lose a fish?"
A pastor and his family (including two children) were
invited to attend a cousin's high school graduation. He
thought he'd prepare the kids, knowing how fidgety they can
get.
"Graduations are sometimes long, boring events," he said. "I
want you guys to behave and not ask constantly when it's
going to be over."
"Don't worry, Dad. We'll live," the daughter replied. "We
last through all your sermons, don't we?"
TEACHER: Why are you late?
WEBSTER: Because of the sign.
TEACHER: What sign?
WEBSTER: The one that says, "School Ahead - Go Slow."
