Do you stick your hook into a skein/ball of yarn when not working on a project?
If so, be sure to remove it by pushing the hooked end on through the skein/ball when you need it...
This way the hook will not get tangled up in the yarn.

I'm not joining granny squares, but the very start of this (starting a new row on work that's already finished off) is what I needed to know. Thanks!

I would like to say a huge thank you for sharing your patterns! They are absolutely beautiful. I have a question on this pattern. In row 9 should the pattern read 2W 6B 20W ? I'm not sure if I've confused myself or not. Thank you for all your help and clarifying this for me.

I made my own ergonomic crochet hooks with Sculpey dough. I used about 1/3 of a package to mold on the handle of aluminum crochet hooks. I molded each to fit my hand and crocheted a bit with them to really get the indents in the right place. Then I baked as directed on the Sculpey package. I went 275 degrees for 20 min. They are awesome! $2-3 Next time I will use 1/2 of a package to make a larger grip. Fimo dough works too.

Hi,
I started to make a pair of the Emma booties from your pattern. I’m new to booties. Am I missing something in the pattern? I have the heel and the toe completed but they are not joined together. Am I to sew the sides up? Or am I missing stitches somewhere?
Please let me know. Thanks for your help. They are very pretty!
(Ms.) Francesca Anthony
<< Reply >>
The heel and toe of this bootie are not joined until the Finishing section.
The ribbon is weaved through the holes on R5 of the Heel and the ch4 loops
on each side of the toe then drawn up and tied in a bow.
This joins them.

This book
is a wonderful addition to any crochet library.
I've had numerous requests over the years of what to crochet for
boys.
Crobots are definitely the answer!
This 96-page book is filled with numerous types of Crobot patterns
as well as well-illustrated instructions for the
crochet stitches, assembly stitches and other embellishments used
in the patterns.
The patterns are well written, some of the book is written in a
small font but the pictures are wonderful. NOTE:
This book comes to you with a safety warning regarding the small
parts used in the patterns.
Therefore, please use your own discretion as to the age of the child
you intend the gift for.

"Laughter is an instant vacation." - Milton Berle
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Humor provides us with a valuable tool for
maintaining an inner strength in the midst
of outer turmoil. - Brian Deery
The little boy wasn't getting good marks in school.
One day he made the teacher quite surprised. He tapped her
on the shoulder and said, "I don't want to scare you, but my
daddy says if I don't get better grades, somebody is going
to get a spanking."
A salesman was trying to talk a farmer into buying a
bicycle, but was meeting with considerable sales resistance.
"Shucks, I'd sooner spend my money on a cow," said the
farmer.
"Ah," replied the salesman, "but think how silly you'd look
riding around on a cow."
"Humph!" retorted the farmer. "Not near as silly as I'd look
trying to milk a bicycle!"
A friend's daughter received an adorable airport
play set as a gift.
Since some assembly - actually, a lot of assembly -
was required, her husband spent much of the day
putting together the plane, the control tower, the
runway, the little baggage chute, and arranging the
pieces into a teeny tiny air hub.
As he finished up, his wife noticed he was frantically
digging around in the box, checking all the packing
materials.
"You are not going to believe this," he said.
"The one piece missing... is the luggage!"
At the outpatient surgery center where I work, the
anesthesiologist often chatted with patients before
their operations to help them relax.
One day he thought he recognized a woman as a
co-worker at the VA hospital where he had trained.
When the patient confirmed that his hunch was
correct, he said, "So, tell me, is the food still as bad
there as it used to be?"
"Well, I suppose," she replied, "I'm still cooking it."
A new client had just come in to see a famous lawyer.
"Can you tell me how much you charge?" asked the client.
"Of course," the lawyer replied. "I charge $200 to answer
three questions."
"Well, that's a bit steep, isn't it?"
"Yes, it is," said the lawyer. "And what's your third
question?"
At a Catholic gathering, the Mother Superior stacked a pile
of apples on one end of a table with a sign saying, "Take
only one apple please - God is watching."
On the other end of the table was a pile of cookies on which
a student had placed a sign saying, "Take all the cookies
you want - God is watching the apples."
I work in a busy office, and when a computer goes down, it
causes quite an inconvenience. Recently one of our computers
not only crashed, but it also made a noise that sounded like
a heart monitor.
"This computer has flat-lined," a co-worker called out with
mock horror. "Does anyone here know how to do
mouse-to-mouse?"
Because our husbands, both medical students in their final
years of internship, were on call for extended periods, my
friend and I were lamenting the fact that we were left alone
every fourth night with our young children.
With a toddler and a newborn, Allison was especially desperate
for help on occasion. Even when her husband was home, he was
so exhausted that he never heard the children’s cries at night.
But she noticed that he always heard his pager when he was
called for an emergency at the hospital. So she did the obvious:
When she needed his assistance at night, she paged him.
A Baptist preacher went to visit a member of the community
and invited him to come to church Sunday morning.
It seems that this man was a producer of fine peach brandy.
He told the preacher that he would attend his church IF the
pastor would drink some of his brandy and admit doing so in
front of his congregation. The preacher agreed and drank up.
Sunday morning, the man visited the church. The preacher
recognized the man from the pulpit and said, "I see Mr.
Johnson is here with us this morning. I want to thank him
publicly for his hospitality this week and especially for
the peaches he gave me and the spirit in which they were
given."
When I stopped the bus to pick up Chris for preschool, I
noticed an older woman hugging him as he left his house.
"Is that your grandmother?" I asked.
"Yes," Chris said. "She's come to visit for a few weeks."
"How nice," I said. "Where does she live?"
"At the airport," Chris replied. "Whenever we want her,
we just go out there and get her."
Over breakfast one morning, a woman said to her husband, "I bet you don't know what day this is."
"Of course I do," he indignantly answered. "How could you
think I would forget?" Whereupon he left for the office.
At 10 AM, the doorbell rang, and when the woman opened the
door, she was handed a box containing a dozen long stemmed
red roses.
At 1 PM, a foil wrapped, two pound box of her favorite
chocolates arrived.
Later, a boutique delivered a designer dress.
The woman couldn't wait for her husband to come home.
"First the flowers, then the chocolate and then the dress!" she exclaimed.
"I've never had a more wonderful 'Arbor Day'
in all my life!"
Top Ten Signs You May Not be Reading Your Bible Enough:
10) The Preacher announces the sermon is from Genesis . . .
and you check the table of contents.
9) You think Abraham, Isaac & Jacob may have had a few hit
songs during the 60's.
8) You open to the Gospel of Luke and a WWII Savings Bond
falls out.
7) Your favorite Old Testament Patriarch is Hercules.
6) A small family of woodchucks has taken up residence in
the Psalms of your Bible.
5) You become frustrated because Charlton Heston isn't listed
in either the Concordance or the Table of Contents.
4) Catching the kids reading the Song of Solomon, you demand:
"Who gave you this stuff?"
3) You think the Minor Prophets worked in the quarries.
2) You keep falling for it every time when Pastor tells you to
turn to First Condominiums.
And the number one sign you may not be reading your Bible enough:
1) The kids keep asking too many questions about your usual bedtime
story:
"Jonah, the Shepherd Boy, and His Ark of Many Colors.
