Count your stitches.
Ensure you have worked the pattern correctly by periodically checking your stitch count.

Hi Lisa,
Can you tell me what kind of Baby Doll
you show on crochet blanket pattern,
it is adorable.
Thanks
Josephine Ford
The doll is a Lazy Baby Soft Doll by Kid Connection... I used to buy these all the time for our daughter for about five dollars at Wal-Mart. I think it looks like a Cabbage Patch doll.

I have a pattern for a slouchy hat and I want to make it a little more slouchier. Can anybody tell me how that is done? Does it have something to do with the decrease stitch?
Stacy Justchilling
Comment:
Increasing more will make the hat slouchier... if you decrease more it will make the hat smaller.

I'm crocheting a Clever Sock Monkey blanket and having trouble with a section for the back of the head. In row 3-12, work across to turning ch-sp, turn, leave turning ch-sp unworked. Please explain this step to me.
Thank you.
Mary
<< reply >>
You work the indicated stitches across each row until you come to
the space where your turning chain is... just skip working into that
space... turn the work and continue.

Hi-
I have done 10 rows and then my directions say "beg working in rnds"
I don't understand the transition to/ meaning of working in rounds.
Thanks!
Judy
<<Reply >>
That just means you will continue the pattern working in one direction
instead of turning the work and crocheting in rows.
Subject: BasicsPage
Thank you for all your crochet abbreviations...they are coming in handy for me. I am a crochet beginner and am currently working on a shawl.
My question is this: I don't understand what the instructions mean when a pattern calls for: keep in pattern as established. I've tried looking everywhere for this meaning and can't find any explanation and when you are new to crocheting you want to make sure you follow everything according to instructions.
Please help!
Thank you, Mary
<< reply >>
This means you keep working the same stitches that
formed the “pattern” of your project.
For instance, if your making an afghan pattern and the instructions tell
you to keep “in pattern” for 48 inches” from the beginning... and... say the afghan “pattern” calls
for 4 rows of single crochet then one row of double crochets... you would keep working 4 rows
of single crochets and one row of double crochets over and over until the project measures 48 inches
from the beginning.

This book
is a wonderful addition to any crochet library.
I've had numerous requests over the years of what to crochet for
boys.
Crobots are definitely the answer!
This 96-page book is filled with numerous types of Crobot patterns
as well as well-illustrated instructions for the
crochet stitches, assembly stitches and other embellishments used
in the patterns.
The patterns are well written, some of the book is written in a
small font but the pictures are wonderful. NOTE:
This book comes to you with a safety warning regarding the small
parts used in the patterns.
Therefore, please use your own discretion as to the age of the child

"Laughter is an instant vacation." - Milton Berle
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
My husband is a minister who conducts an expanded altar call at the end of his sermon. He asks those who wish to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, as well as those with prayers or other requests, to come forward.
To the surprise and delight of the congregation our three-year-old daughter, without a word to me, got up and made her way forward. She waited patiently while the others ahead of her made a request.
When her turn came, my husband leaned down to ask for her request.
She whispered, "Can we go to the restaurant after church?"
A policeman parked his police van in front of
the station. While gathering his equipment,
his K-9 partner, Tops, was barking, and he
saw a little boy staring in at him.
“Is that a dog you got back there?” he asked.
“It sure is,” the policeman replied.
Puzzled, the boy looked at him and towards
the back of the van. Finally he asked,
“What
did he do?”
Me and the missus walked past a swanky new restaurant
last night.
"Did you smell that food? It was incredible" she said.
Being the nice guy I am, I thought "Oh heck, I'll give
her a treat ".
….. So we walked past again.
At the barbershop recently, a father came in with his two
sons, about 10 and 12 years of age. He got both boys settled
into barber chairs and then proceeded to tell the barbers
how he wanted their hair cut.
The younger boy didn't pay much attention. But the older boy
turned to his barber and said, "Make me look good for the
girls, not for my dad!"
A man who hadn't attended church in years suddenly began attending faithfully on Sunday mornings instead of going fishing as was his normal habit. The pastor was highly gratified and at the end of service one morning told him, "How wonderful it makes me feel to see you at services with your good wife!"
"Well, Preacher," said the fisherman, "Quite honestly, it's a matter of choice. I'd much rather hear your sermon than hers."
“I’ve never flown before, said the nervous old lady to the pilot. “You will bring me down safely, won’t you?
“All I can say ma’am,” said the pilot, “is that I’ve never left anyone up there yet!”
One day, while I was catching up with my seven-year-old granddaughter, Dia on the phone, she told me she had lost her two front teeth.
I asked if she had got a visit from the tooth fairy.
Dia told me that with the first tooth, she had put it under her pillow and when she woke up in the morning, the tooth fairy had left money but had taken her tooth. "When I lost the second one." Dia said, "I wrapped it up really good and hid it in my drawer. There's no way the tooth fairy is going to get any more of my teeth!"
There is an old story about a mother who walks in on her six-year-old son and finds him sobbing. "What's the matter?" she asks.
"I've just figured out how to tie my shoes."
"Well, honey, that's wonderful." Being a wise mother, she recognizes his victory in the struggle of learning a new skill: "
“You're growing up, but why are you crying?"
"Because," he says, "now I'll have to do this every day for the rest of my life."
When Payton, 4, got into trouble her mother told her that she had to have "time out" because she was naughty.
Payton said, "I don't need time out. Jesus already took care of the bad things people do!"
A man goes into a drugstore and asks the pharmacist
if he can give him something for the hiccups. The
pharmacist promptly reaches out and slaps the man's
face.
"What did you do that for?" the man asks.
"Well, you don't have the hiccups anymore, do you?"
The man says, "No, but my wife out in the car still
does!"
Several years ago, Andy was sentenced to prison.
During his stay, he got along well with the guards
and all his fellow inmates. The warden knew that,
deep down, Andy was a good person. So, the warden
made arrangements for the inmate to learn a trade
while doing his time.
Some three years later, Andy was recognized as one
of the best carpenters in the local area. Often, he
would be given a weekend pass to do odd jobs for
citizens of the community. And, he always reported
back to prison by early Sunday evening. Andy was a
model inmate.
One day, the warden considered remodeling his kitchen,
though he lacked the skills to build a set of kitchen
cupboards and a large counter top. So, he called Andy
into his office and asked him to do the job for him.
To the warden's surprise, Andy simply refused to help.
"But, you're an expert. Andy, I really need your help,"
said the warden.
"Gosh, warden, I'd really like to help you, but counter
fitting is what got me into prison in the first place."
The 12-year-old boy stood patiently beside the clock counter while the store clerk waited on all of the adult customers first. Finally he got around to the youngster, who made his purchase and hurried out to the curb, where his father was impatiently waiting in his car.
"What took you so long, son?" he asked.
"The man waited on everybody in the store before me," the boy replied. "But I got even."
"How?"
"I wound and set all the alarm clocks while I was waiting," the youngster explained happily. "It's going to be fun at eight o'clock."
