Ribbed Edge Granny Baby Afghan Crochet Pattern

Newborn Size


The following pattern is my original design.
Please only copy or print this pattern for personal use.
Please contact me if you find any errors.

MATERIALS:

Bernat Baby Coordinates (color of your choice - less than three 5.6 ounce skeins)
Hook Size H

Stitches: ch, sl st, dc, bpdc, fpdc.

Difficulty:  MEDIUM


R1: Ch4, (work all of the following sts in the 4th ch from the hook)
2dc * Ch1, 3dc.
Rep from * twice more.
Ch1. Join with sl st in top of beg ch4.

R2: Ch3, turn. (2dc, ch2, 3dc) in next ch1 sp.
* (3dc, ch2, 3dc) in next ch1 sp.
Rep from * twice more.
Join with sl st in top of beg ch3.

R3: Ch3, turn. 2dc in next open space on the side of the square.
(3dc, ch2, 3dc) in the next corner sp.
* 3dc in next side sp.
(3dc, ch2, 3dc) in next corner sp.
Rep from * twice more.
Join with sl st in top of beg ch3.

Rs4-35: Ch3, turn. (this will always count as 1dc)
Work 3dc in ea side sp and work (3dc, ch2, 3dc) in ea corner sp.
At the end of ea round always join with a sl st in the top of the beg ch3.

Do not fasten off.

RIBBED EDGE

R1: Sl st in next st. Ch3, dc in ea dc across to corner sp.
*(2dc, ch1, 2dc) in the corner sp.
Dc in ea dc across to next corner sp.
Rep from * twice more.
(2dc, ch1, 2dc) in corner sp.
Dc in ea dc across.
Join with sl st in top of beg ch3.

R2: Sc around front post of the same dc as joining.
Ch2 (counts as one fpdc)
Bpdc around next dc.
Fpdc around next dc.
Alternate bpdc and fpdc across to corner sp.
Work (dc, ch1, dc) in corner sp.
Continue alternating post stitches along sides and working (dc, ch1, dc) in ea corner sp.

NOTE:
To ensure corners look the same be sure if the last st ending one side is the same as the st you use to begin the next side.

Join with a sl st in the top of the beg ch2.

R3: Sc around front post of the same st. Ch2.
Work bpdc around ea bpdc and a fpdc around ea fpdc.
When you get to the corner, keep in pattern by working post sts around the corner sts
and in the corner sp work (dc, ch1, dc).
Join with sl st in top of beg ch.

R4: Sc around the front post of the same st. Ch2.
Work bpdc around ea bpdc and fpdc around ea fpdc.
When you get to the corner keep in pattern by working post sts around the corner sts
and in the corner sp work 3dc.
Join with sl st in top of beg ch2.


Join with sl st in first st.
Fasten off.
