THESE MITTS MEASURE

FROM CUFF TO TIP

The following pattern is my original design.
Please only copy or print this pattern for personal use.
Please contactme if you find any errors.

MATERIALS:

Hook: Size F

Yarn: Bernat Baby Fingering Weight Yarn (this yarn is 3 ply but very thin)
Yarn Needle
Cording or Ribbon (2-12" pieces)
Sewing needle and coordinating thread
Stitches used: ch, sl st, sc, sc dec, dc.

BL = Back Loop

Gauge: 5 sc per inch.

Difficulty: EASY

(Don't forget to make 2 ;o)

BEGINNING AT WRIST

RND 1: Ch 30, join to form a loop being careful not to twist the chain. Ch 1, Do Not Turn. Sc in each ch around. (30 sc). Do Not Join, Place Marker.

RND 2: Sc in BL only of each sc around to marker. (30 sc) Reposition Marker.

RNDS 3-9: Repeat Rnd 2.

RND 10: (Sc Dec over next 2 sts) around. (15 sc) Join with sl st to 1st Sc Dec made.

FASTEN OFF leaving an 8" tail. Thread yarn needle with the 8" length of yarn and weave the needle in and out of the stitches on Rnd 10. Draw the opening closed and fasten off.

NOTE: to get a different look turn the mitt inside out before drawing the opening closed.

< CUFF >

RND 1: Reattach yarn in any unworked loop of the foundation ch. Ch 2, dc in each unworked lp around. (30 dc). Join with sl st to beg ch 3. Sl st around post of beg ch 3. Ch 3.

RND 2: Bpdc around post of next dc. * Fpdc around post of next dc. Bpdc around post of next dc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st in top of beg ch 3.

ROW 3: Ch 4, Do Not Turn. Sc in BL only of next st. * Ch 4, sc in BL only of next st. Rep from * around. Join with sl st.

FASTEN OFF.

< TIE STRING >

I used a shiny cord for the tie but you can use a crocheted string or a ribbon. Cut a 12" piece for each mitt and weave it in and out of the stitches on the first row of the cuff. Using the sewing needle and coordinating thread, stitch the center of the tie string in place so the baby cannot pull it free from the mitt.

HAPPY CROCHETING
