GENERAL NEWS

Dear Subscriber:

I walked over to see my Dad on Saturday and Tim (hubby)
called me to tell me there were cows in our yard.
                                              YES! Cows.

Tim and Haley had to get a closer look :o)
Our neighbor across the mountain owns the cows. You can see there are 7 in the first picture.
He sent some people to heard the cows back across the mountain and that same evening 9 cows came back
and spent the night :o) Needless to say... my yard needs a huge shovel !

WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

"The devil loves it when we skip church on rainy Sundays...
'Cause he knows that dry people burn faster."
(Quote sent in by
Kathy Jeske)

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe...

Ephesians 1:18-19

"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break and or steal; for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."

Matthew 6:19-21

No man can by any means redeem his brother, or give to God a ransom for him-- for the redemption of his soul is costly, and he should cease trying forever-- that he should live on eternally; that he should not undergo decay. For he sees that even wise men die; the stupid and the senseless alike perish, and leave their wealth to others.

Psalm 49:7-10

Do not be afraid when a man becomes rich, when the glory of his house is increased; for when he dies he will carry nothing away; his glory will not descend after him.

Psalm 49:16-17

"GOD'S WORD PROMISES RICHES
THAT MONEY CANNOT BUY."

This quote is from Our Daily Bread - October, 2005 Issue.

Its easy and I can work on my Christmas gifts and watch TV at the same time.
Thanks again,
Jean Decker

RE: Knurl Stitch
(Seen in the October 15th issue.)

Thank you SO much for the information. You are the ONLY person who knew what that stitch it was!!!! Now I know who to call on when I have a question I am unable to find an answer for!! The illustrations you referred me to were very helpful. I had to laugh at the levity on Sandra's website. I have entered her site in my favorite places so I can revisit her later. I have also put you in my address book so if I need to call upon you again..I will know you will probably be able to help me. Thank you, again. God Bless you for being such a nice person!!! Love-Barb

RE: Dog Sweater

Here is the picture of my dog Gizmo.

He loves his sweater! Please let me know if his picture is on your page.
Thanks. Christy

RE: Ripple Pattern

Dear Lisa,

Cindy asked for an easy ripple pattern. I like the one you chose, but I have never made one from that pattern yet. I have used a pattern which I found at About.com which is aptly named Easy Ripple Afghan. I have made at least a dozen afghans from this pattern and an equal number of wraps (I learned a few months ago these are called ruanas, but I didn't know that when I started making them without a pattern), and it really is easy. Also beautiful when finished. It can be found at:

Re: LOVE your website!!

Hello, Lisa!
I just finished an afghan tonight and headed to the computer for a free pattern. I came upon your website. I was browsing through when I saw your Jesus links! I thought how interesting! I clicked all through, reading your testimony and seeing your beautiful daughter be baptized! God's name be praised! I've always had God in my life, but like you, was pretty casual about it until about 2003!! My heart's been "on fire" for my Lord & Savior since then. I just wanted to write to you to say GOOD JOB in sharing Jesus with others who may come to your site!!
Your sister in Christ and crochet-lover, Debby :)

RE: Little Dress Cotton Dishcloth

Have been receiving your newsletter for a good while now and sure do like the whole thing. So informative and such good free patterns and stitch explanations. I have been crocheting for many years, being taught by my mother when I was just a little child. Now. I have a problem. I found a dishcloth pattern in the form of a little dress. Didnt copy it off as I was in a hurry. Now I would like to know if any of your readers have seen it and could tell me where to find it again. I visit too many crochet sites I guess and just cant keep track of them, but this site is the best of all and it comes in regularly so have no problems. You really go all out for your readers and customers. Thank you so much. If anyone can help with my request, please just email me the information and will greatly appreciate it. Gerry Dick

>> reply <<

You're very welcome Gerry and thanks so much for such nice compliments. On more than on occassion I've had difficulty trying to remember where I saw a pattern... so don't feel bad.
Here you go:
Janelle's Little Dress Cotton Dishcloth:
http://www.jimsyldesign.com/~dishbout/cpatterns/crodress.html

Here's the poem I wrote to go with it:
http://www.crochetnmore.com/dishdresspoempage.htm
I punched a hole in the corner of the poem with a hole punch then I tied the poem onto the dress with a piece of #10 bedspread thread. Hope this helps.

I really enjoy some of these patterns but I have no clue as to what the short hand of the directions are saying? I'm fairly new at crochet and haven't done these patterns before. Mabey you could send me what the definitions are. Any help would be appeciated. thank you. Chris

>> reply <<

You can find stitch abbreviations and instructions on our Crochet Basics page: http://www.crochetnmore.com/123basics.htm
Let me know if you need anything else.

Re: Spiderweb Outside Porch Decoration

Hi Lisa: I guess I haven't written to you in a while. Ever since the cat sweaters, I guess. Well, I just wanted to thank you for your spiderweb table topper pattern. Knowing me, though, I just had to 'expand' it a little to use outside. I've enclosed a picture.

It looks absolutely awesome and puts that imitation store-bought webbing to shame. :)

Thanks again! Sincerely, Sue Schoeller

I've enjoyed your web site over the years and scripture is always great to help keep me focused. i just want to say thanks sg.

RE: Pattern Submission

I was looking for a crochet rug pattern, searched and searched until I found your site. Love the patterns and hope to be able to contribute some of my own. I don't know how to do this. If you could tell me that would be great. Thanks again. Kat

>> reply <<

Hi Kat:

Glad you stopped by. To have your original crochet pattern posted on my site: send me an email including
(1) the pattern instructions (2) a photo, and (3) an email address where viewers can email you about the pattern.

RE: Plastic Bag Crochet

Has anyone heard of crocheting with plastic bags. I have seen rugs made of all kinds of plastic bags and would like to know if anyone has tried it and if so do you have a pattern? Thanks, Pat

<< reply >>

The last issue of the Crochet N More Newsletter contained a pattern made using plastic bag strips.
Check it out here:

I am a labor and delivery nurse and just taught myself to crochet so I could make hats for the babies I help usher into the world. Your site has been helpful for patterns. Thank you for making it so easy to get started!! Now I can't seem to stop crocheting.

Hi, I am 10 years old and just recently learned to crochet(8yrs). I really enjoy it and was searching for patterns when i found this site. It has helped me soo much. Jessica

HUMOR

>>> True Story <<<

George Phillips of Meridian, Mississippi was going up to bed when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window. George opened the back door to go turn off the light but saw that there were people in the shed stealing things. He phoned the police, who asked

Does someone live in your shed?" and he said no.
Then they said that all patrols were busy, and that he should simply lock his door and an officer would be along when available.

George said, "Okay," hung up, counted to 30, and phoned the police again.
"Hello I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people in my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now, c ause I've just shot them all." Then he hung up.

Within five minutes three police cars, an Armed Response unit, and an ambulance showed up at the Phillips residence.
Of course, the police caught the burglars red-handed.

One of the Policemen said to George:
"I thought you said that you'd shot them?"

George said, "I thought you said there was nobody available?"

A father wanted to read a magazine but was being bothered by his little girl. She wanted to know what the United States looked like. Finally, he tore a sheet out of his new magazine on which was printed the map of the country. Tearing it into small pieces, he gave it to Shelby, and said, "Go into the other room and see if you can put this together. This will show you our whole country." After a few minutes, she returned and handed him the map correctly fitted together. The father was surprised and asked how she had finished so quickly.
"Oh,"she said, "on the other side of the paper is a picture of Jesus.
When I got all of Jesus back where He belonged, then our country just came together."

My four-year-old likes to say the blessing at mealtimes, usually repeating the same short prayer:
"Thank you, God, for this gracious food. Amen."

One evening, however, he thanked the Lord for the birds, the trees, each of his friends, and asked God to watch over his family and help them to be good. I was thrilled that he was finally praying from the heart. But after the "Amen," he took a spoonful of stew, gasped, then dropped his spoon into the bowl.

"I should have said a longer prayer," he said. "My food is still too hot."

Max: How are you sleeping since your mother-in-law moved in?
Monty: I'm sleeping like a baby.
Max: Like a baby?
Monty: Yes, I wake up every two hours and bawl.

A man walks into a shoe store, and tries on a pair of shoes.
"How do they feel?" asks the sales clerk.

"Well they feel a bit tight," replies the man.

The assistant promptly bends down and has a look at the shoes and at the man's feet.
"Try pulling the tongue out. That should help." the clerk says.

"Well, theyth sthill feelth a bith tighth."

Becky was the manager of a jewelry store that catered to the 'rich of the richest' in Boca Raton.
She was seeking a qualified person to fill the recently vacant position of salesperson.
Sarah comes in to interview for the position.
Becky looks at Sarah's resume and notices that Sarah has never worked in jewelry before.
"If you don't mind my saying so, for someone who has never worked in jewelry you certainly are asking a pretty high salary."
asks Becky.

Sarah thinks hard for a moment.
"Well... I suppose," replies Sarah, "but you must understand, the work is so much harder
when you don't know what you are doing."

The Bible says God created man in His own image.
Looking at myself in the mirror every morning,
I get the feeling He used a circus mirror when it was my turn.

When my brother-in-law was on leave from national service, he brought home a heavily tattooed friend.
We all sat down to Sunday lunch, and my four-year-old nephew couldn't take his eyes off the man's colorful arms.
Curiosity finally got the better off him. Politely, he asked the visitor,

"Didn't your mother give you paper to write on?"

An exasperated mother, whose son was always getting into mischief, finally asked him,
"How do you expect to get into Heaven?"

The boy thought it over and said,
"Well, I'll just run in and out and in and out and keep slamming the door until St. Peter says

'For Heaven's sake, Jimmy, either come in or stay out!'"
