Crocheting with novelty yarn can be easier if you pair a strand of novelty yarn with a strand of a smooth worsted weight yarn.

RE: Stitch_Question
Good Afternoon: I was looking at your Christmas Tree Afghan Square Pattern and I have just a small question.
Do you cut your yarn when changing the colors in each row?
Thank you.
Leona Sellyeh

I do not cut yarn when making any of the row count patterns.
Thanks for asking.

RE: Dog_Bandana
Thank you for your pattern! Love the texture. I made it for my sister’s new puppy and plan on making another. I don’t like making long chains, so I used a foundation sc instead and then followed your pattern. Came out great!
Happy hooking,
Mary

Crocheting afghan - what does ch 4 ( counts as dc, ch 1) mean?
THANKS
Jo Ann

Each double crochet stitch equal to the height of 3 chains;
therefore, the four chains will be the same as one double crochet stitch plus one chain stitch.
Re: Emma's Booties crochet directions
Hello I made the booties tonight. or rather I tried to make them I got the sole, heel and toe done then found out the upper top part of the Bootie is missing the directions. it ends with the 4 ch stitch. No directions for the ruffled part of the bootie.
Can you help . thank you
Caro Kent
<< Reply >>
The ruffled part along the top edge of the bootie is formed during R7 of the HEEL.
The heel and toe of this bootie are not joined until the Finishing section.
The ribbon is weaved through the holes on R5 of the Heel and the ch4 loops
on each side of the toe then drawn up and tied in a bow.
This joins them.

Hi!
I just tried to make your round casserole carrier, because I thought it would be a good quick project to sell at the craft fair. My carrier looks NOTHING like yours! Your picture seems to have a cover on it, there are no instructions for a cover.
When following your instructions for the increases, the whole piece starts to ruffle. I frogged that and increases my way, resulting in a flat bottom. But, the piece is barely 31/2 in. across the bottom. Way too small for even my smallest casserole dish.
Also, after the row of just sc in the one loop, you don’t say whether to continue that way for the remaining rows or go back to sc under both loops. I did it under both loops and barely have a 1 in. wall.
The picture also looks like it has a cover, and there aren’t any instructions listed for a cover.
Hope you’ll be able to help me. I may have just read everything wrong.
Sincerely,
Chris

The Round Casserole Carrier pattern is worked holding six strands of yarn together throughout the pattern. The first 8 rounds are the main part of the carrier, then the handles are added.
There is no cover for this pattern and you only work into the back loop when indicated.

This book
is a wonderful addition to any crochet library.
I've had numerous requests over the years of what to crochet for
boys.
Crobots are definitely the answer!
This 96-page book is filled with numerous types of Crobot patterns
as well as well-illustrated instructions for the
crochet stitches, assembly stitches and other embellishments used
in the patterns.
The patterns are well written, some of the book is written in a
small font but the pictures are wonderful. NOTE:
This book comes to you with a safety warning regarding the small
parts used in the patterns.
Therefore, please use your own discretion as to the age of the child
you intend the gift for.

"Laughter is an instant vacation." - Milton Berle
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Humor provides us with a valuable tool for
maintaining an inner strength in the midst
of outer turmoil. - Brian Deery
The story is told of ten-year-old Johnny, who rushes home from school one day. He invades the fridge and is scooping out some cherry vanilla ice cream when his mother enters the kitchen.
She says, "Put that away, Johnny. You can't have ice cream now. It's too close to supper time. Go outside and play."
Johnny whimpers and says, "There's no one to play with."
Trying to pacify him, she says, "OK. I'll play with you. What do you want to play?"
He says, "I wanna play Mommy and Daddy."
To appease him, she says, "Fine, I'll play. What do I do?"
Johnny says, "You go in the living room and sit down."
Mom goes into the living room. Johnny, feeling a bit bold, swaggers down the hall and opens the utility closet. He dons his father's old fishing hat and overcoat. He goes into the living room, sits down, picks up the remote and starts changing channels.
His mother says, "What do I do now?"
In a gruff manner, Johnny says, "Go in the kitchen and get that kid some ice cream!"
A client recently brought her two cats in to my husband's veterinary clinic for their annual checkup. One was a small-framed, round tiger-striped tabby, while the other was a long, sleek black cat.
She watched closely as I put each on the scale. "They weigh about the same," I told her.
"That proves it!" she exclaimed. "Black does make you look slimmer. And stripes make you look fat."
The young man ahead of my father at the flower shop was taking an unusually long time to place his order. When the clerk asked how she could help, he explained that his girlfriend was turning 19 and he couldn't decide whether to give her a dozen roses or 19 roses -- one for each year of her life.
The woman put aside her business judgment and advised, "She may be your 19-year-old girlfriend now, but someday she could be your 50-year-old wife."
The young man bought a dozen roses.
Two old friends met one day after many years. One attended college, and now was very successful. The other had not attended college and never had much ambition.
The successful one said, "How has everything been going with you?"
"Well, one day I opened the Bible at random, and dropped my finger on a word and it was oil. So, I invested in oil, and boy, did the oil wells gush.
Then another day I dropped my finger on another word and it was gold. So, I invested in gold and those mines really produced. Now, I'm as rich as Rockefeller."
The successful friend was so impressed that he rushed to his hotel, grabbed a Gideon Bible, flipped it open, and dropped his finger on a page.
He opened his eyes and his finger rested on the words, "Chapter Eleven."
A new man is brought into Prison Cell 102. Already there is a long-time resident, who looks a hundred years old. The new man looks at the old-timer inquiringly.
The old-timer says, "Look at me. I'm old and worn out. You'd never believe that I used to live the life of Riley. I wintered on the Riviera, had a boat, four fine cars, the most beautiful women, and I ate in all the best restaurants of France."
The new man asked, "What happened?"
"One day Riley, reported his credit cards missing!
On his birthday, my husband was stuck driving our six
rambunctious children around.
As usual, they were yelling, punching, and annoying one
another. Joel finally had had enough.
"Kids," he said over the din, "if you would behave and
be kind to each other, that would be a very nice birthday
present for me."
Our six-year-old shot back: "Too late, I already got you
another present."
I arrived home physically exhausted and noticed our car
was not in the driveway. As I pulled up, 15-year-old
Brad ran out to greet me.
Annoyed that the children had been left alone, I asked,
"Where's your father?"
"In the house," Brad answered.
My voice rising in panic, I screeched, "Well where’s the
car?"
Brad looked at me in disbelief. "You're in it!"
I'm not much of a gift wrapper, especially compared with the women who work at our shop. But I was the only one available the day a customer wanted a gift wrapped for his mother.
"Sorry," I said, handing back a box covered with wrinkled, oddly taped paper. "It's wrapped, but it sure looks like an amateur did it."
“Great," he said happily. "Now my mom will think I did it myself."
As a professor at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota,
I often engage women psychology majors in heated discussions
about male-female relationships.
Once, my friend Shelly and I got into a hot debate about
whether men or women make the larger sacrifice of their
respective gender characteristics when they get married.
To my surprise, Shelly agreed with me that men give up
far more than women.
"You're right, Steve," she said. "Men generally give up
doing the cleaning, the cooking, their grocery shopping,
the laundry...."
An archaeologist was digging in the Negev Desert in Israel
and came upon a casket containing a mummy, a rather rare
occurrence in Israel, to say the least.
After examining it, he called the curator of the Israel museum
in Jerusalem.
"I've just discovered a 3,000 year old mummy of a man who died
of heart failure!" the excited scientist exclaimed.
To which the curator replied, "Bring him in. We'll check it out."
A week later, the amazed curator called the archaeologist. "You
were right about both the mummy's age and cause of death. How in
the world did you know?"
"Easy. There was a piece of paper in his hand that said, '10,000
Shekels on Goliath.'"
When my daughter was three, we watched Snow White and
The Seven Dwarfs for the first time. The wicked queen
appeared, disguised as an old lady selling apples, and
my daughter was spellbound.
Then Snow White took a bite of the poisoned apple and
fell to the ground unconscious. As the apple rolled away,
my daughter spoke up. "See, Mom. She doesn't like the
skin either."
