And it came about that while He was in one of the cities, behold, there was a man full of leprosy; and when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and implored Him, saying, "Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean." And He stretched out His hand, and touched him, saying, "I am willing; be cleansed." And immediately the leprosy left him. And He ordered him to tell no one. "But go and show yourself to the priest, and make an offering for your cleansing, just as Moses commanded, for a testimony to them." But the news about Him was spreading even farther, and great multitudes were gathering to hear Him and to be healed of their sickness. But He Himself would often slip away to the wilderness to pray. And it came about one day that He was teaching; and there were some Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting there, who had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem; and the power of the Lord was present for Him to perform healing. And behold, some men were carrying on a bed a man who was paralyzed; and they were trying to bring him in, and to set him down in front of Him. And not finding any way to bring him in because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and let him down through the tiles with his stretcher, right in the center, in front of Jesus. And seeing their faith, He said, "Friend, your sins are forgiven you." And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, "Who is this man who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?" But Jesus, aware of their reasonings, answered and said to them, "Why are you reasoning in your hearts? Which is easier, to say, "Your sins have been forgiven you," or to say, "Rise and walk? But in order that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins," - He said to the paralytic - "I say to you, rise, and take up your stretcher and go home." And at once he rose up before them, and took up what he had been lying on, and went home, glorifying God. And they were all seized with astonishment and began glorifying God; and they were filled with fear, saying, "We have seen remarkable things today."

RIBBING
Ribbing is a technique used to add texture and elasticity to crocheted fabric.
Ribbing is achieved by working into the back loops of stitches.
You can use single crochet, half double crochet or even double crochet stitches in ribbed work.
The taller the stitch, the wider the rib will be.

If you are just learning to crochet, choose a pattern that you can finish pretty quickly... like a dishcloth.
A dishcloth pattern is a great "first project". Take your time... relax and enjoy the process.
The feeling of accomplishment that comes when you finish your very first project will give you the confidence to choose something even more challenging.

I'm subscribed to your newsletters,but for the life of me, I can never seem
to find the patterns you mention in the emails. This last one says:
This issue contains the following patterns:

You never tells us 'where' to find them. I don't like going through previous y-e-a-r-s
of patterns to find the ones you mention, I always just give up. Why can't you provide
a link to those specific patterns instead of making us hunt for hours trying to find them? Your website isn't very 'finder' friendly.

only Round 18 uses puff stitches.
The texture at the bottom happens on Round 21 when the post stitches are added.

I am about to start "cross afghan square 3". It is going to be the center of a full size giant size single granny square afghan.
The original pattern "crochet granny blues lapghan", from Best Free Crochet. It starts with a ring, then goes to
Ch3(2dc,ch3,3dc) in same space
Ch1 *3dc in next ch-1 space
Ch1,(3dc,ch3,3dc) in corner Ch
Ch-3 sp, ch1, repeat from *.
Since I won't have ch1 so

You can join any type of squares together as long each one is close to the
size of the others.
What size is the "crochet granny blues lapghan" square?
Keep in mind...
Tension will make a difference in any pattern.
When I made the "cross afghan square 3" it measured 8-1/2" x 8-1/2" when I
used worsted weight yarn... of course using baby yarn it was smaller.
So, as long as your squares are similar in size you can join them fairly
easily.

Could you help me out with this pattern. Its a sunny shell purse. These are the rounds I need help in.
Round 7 - 2 slst to middle of 1st shell (between 2nd and 3rd dc), ch 1, 1 sc in same space, *4 dc in next sc, 1 sc between 2nd and 3rd dc of next shell,* repeat * * around, join with slst to top of 1st sc (18 shells)
Round 8 - ch 3 (counts as 1st dc), 3 dc in same st, *1 sc between 2nd and 3rd dc of next shell, 4 dc in next sc,* repeat * * around, join with slst to top of ch 3 (18 shells)

For Round 7 work one slip stitch in each of the next two stitches which should get you the middle of the first shell. The middle of the first shell is between the second and third double crochet stitch in that shell. (note: this means you work in between the posts of each double crochet... not directly into either stitch)
Now chain 1 and work 1 single crochet in the same space.

work 4 double crochets in the next single crochet
work 1 single crochet between the second and third double crochets of the next shell.

Now repeat the instructions in between the asterisks over and over all the way around.
Join with a slip stitch in the top of the first single crochet.

The Sunday school teacher was explaining the story of Elijah the Prophet and the false prophets of Baal to her class. She explained how Elijah built the altar, put wood upon it, cut the steer in pieces and laid it upon the altar. And then Elijah commanded the people of God to fill four barrels of water and pour it over the altar. He had them do this four times. "Now, said the teacher, "can anyone in the class tell me why the Lord would have Elijah pour water over the steer on the altar?"
A little girl raised her hand with great enthusiasm and said "To make the gravy!"
A man stopped by the local church to talk to the Pastor. He told the Pastor "I stole a turkey this morning on my way home from work". The Pastor told him "That was a terrible thing to do". The man replied "Yes, I know that now, do you want it?" The Pastor replied "No, take it back and give it to the man that you stole it from." The man replied "I tried to give it back but he refused it". The Pastor told him "In that case you keep the turkey". The man thanked the Pastor and went on his way.
When the Pastor arrived home later that day he discovered that his turkey had been stolen!
A collector of rare books ran into an old friend who told him he had just thrown away an old Bible that he found in a dusty, old box. He happened to mention that Guten-somebody-or-other had printed it.
"Not Gutenberg?" gasped the collector.
"Yes, that was it!"
"Do you know what you have done? You've thrown away one of the first books ever printed. A copy recently sold at auction for half a million dollars!"
"Oh, I don't think this book would have been worth anywhere close to that," replied his friend. "It was scribbled all over in the margins by some guy named Martin Luther."
"Dear God, please take care of my daddy and my mommy and my sister and my brother and my doggy and my cat and me. Oh, please take care of yourself, God. If anything happens to you, we're gonna be in a big mess."
There is the story of a pastor who got up one Sunday and announced to his congregation: "I have good news and bad news.
The good news is, we have enough money to pay for our new building program.
The bad news is, it's still out there in your pockets."
This year for our pastor's birthday, the congregation decided to give him a new suit.
He was so touched by the gift that the following Sunday he stood before everyone and, with tears in his eyes, announced, "Today I will be preaching to you in my birthday suit."
There was a new family that had just moved into town. Their son came to Sunday School but seemed upset. His teacher asked him if anything was wrong.
The boy replied no, that he was going to go fishing but his dad told him that he needed to go to church instead. The teacher was very impressed with the boy's parents and asked the boy if his father had explained to him why it was more important to go to church than to go fishing.
The boy replied, "Yes he did. My dad said that he didn't have enough bait for both of us."
Dear Heavenly Father,
So far, today, I've done all right. I haven't gossiped or lost my temper. I haven't been greedy, grumpy, nasty, or self centered. I'm really happy about that so far. But in a few minutes I'm going to be getting out of bed and then I'm going to need a lot of help. Thank you! Amen
A young couple invited their pastor for Sunday dinner. While they were in the kitchen preparing the meal, the minister asked their son what they were having.
"Goat," the little boy replied.
"Goat?" replied the Pastor, "Are you sure about that?"
"Yes," said the youngster. "I heard Dad say to Mom, 'We might as well have the old goat for dinner today as any other day."
After a church service on Sunday morning, a young boy suddenly announced to his mother, "Mom, I've decided to become a minister When I grow up."
"That's okay with us, but what made you decide that?"
"Well," said the little boy, "I have to go to church on Sunday anyway, and I figure it will be more fun to stand up and yell, than to sit and listen."
A little boy was waiting for his mother to come out of the grocery store.
As he waited, he was approached by a man who asked, "Son, can you tell me where the post office is?"
The little boy replied, "Sure, just go straight down the street a couple of blocks and turn to your right."
The man thanked the boy kindly and said, "I'm the new pastor in town, and I'd like for you to come to church on Sunday. I'll show you how to get to Heaven."
The little boy replied with a chuckle, "Awww, come on; you don't even know the way to the post office!"
A church had a picnic and invited the entire community to come. The Pastor placed a basket full of apples on one end of a table with a sign saying, "Take only one apple please - Remember that God is watching."
On the other end of the table was a plate of cookies where one of the children had placed a sign saying, "Take all the cookies you want -- God is watching the apples."
