I love that accent!
Will this method work on DC and hdc as well?

Thanks.
This method would work on any solid crochet fabric.

RE: ReadAPattern
Could you please help with the following excerpt from my pattern, I have been crocheting for many years but just cannot decipher this bit
"After rotating work, so you are working up the side, put 3sc over each side of next 3dc. 2sc over each side of next 22hdc. Put 3 scorer each side of next 3 dc. 1scinto the starting stitch. Join to first sc. 129 stitches. This is the back and neck edge of a hood for ponch.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards
Sandra

Those instructions have you working into the row ends up the side of the work.
Work 3 single crochet stitches around the post of each of the next 3 double crochets.
Then work 2 single crochet stitches around the post of the next 22 half double crochets.
Work 3 single crochet around the post of each of the next 3 double crochets.
Work 1 single crochet in the starting stitch.
Join to the first single crochet (I’m guessing with a slip stitch).
When finished you should have 129 single crochet stitches.
Lisa
I am new to crocheting and there is an abbreviation that I do not know. Can you help me
I says working in blo here and throughout.
Karen
<< Reply >>
Instead of crocheting in the entire stitch which is both loops on the top of the stitch... you only catch or go through one of the loops when you do each stitch.
The back loop (bl or blo) is the loop farthest from you.

Happy New Year
I'm starting my new year off right, trying to start this pattern I've had sitting for awhile...
If I could understand the usage of "over" maybe this would make sense to me?
Help plz... here's how it reads...
Rnd 5: ch 4, dc in same sp, [2 dc over 3 dc, (dc-ch 2-dc) in ch-2 sp] 11 times, end 2 dc over 3 dc, Dcj--4 dc petals between each ch-2 sp.
Maybe I bit off more than I could chew...
If you could help me, it would be such a blessing.
Thank you,
Marcy Scire

Hi Marcy:
I believe the designer wants you chain 4 and work one double crochet in the same space... then:
work 2dc in each of the next 3dc
work 1dc, ch2 and another dc all in the next chain 2 space (that’s one time)
work 2dc in each of the next 3dc
work 1dc, ch2 and another dc all in the next chain 2 space (that’s two times)
work 2dc in each of the next 3dc
work 1dc, ch2 and another dc all in the next chain 2 space (that’s three times)
work 2dc in each of the next 3dc
work 1dc, ch2 and another dc all in the next chain 2 space (that’s four times)
work 2dc in each of the next 3dc
work 1dc, ch2 and another dc all in the next chain 2 space (that’s five times)
work 2dc in each of the next 3dc
work 1dc, ch2 and another dc all in the next chain 2 space (that’s six times)
work 2dc in each of the next 3dc
work 1dc, ch2 and another dc all in the next chain 2 space (that’s seven times)
work 2dc in each of the next 3dc
work 1dc, ch2 and another dc all in the next chain 2 space (that’s eight times)
work 2dc in each of the next 3dc
work 1dc, ch2 and another dc all in the next chain 2 space (that’s nine times)
work 2dc in each of the next 3dc
work 1dc, ch2 and another dc all in the next chain 2 space (that’s ten times)
work 2dc in each of the next 3dc
work 1dc, ch2 and another dc all in the next chain 2 space (that’s eleven times)
work 2dc in each of the next 3dc
work a Dcj as stated at the beginning of the pattern. (I must admit I’ve never seen this stitch... definitely unusual)
According to the reference... when you finish you should have 4dc petals between each of the ch-2 spaces.
I have to admit... that makes no sense to me. I have 8dc between each of the chain spaces on this round.
No clue why that would be referenced as 4dc petals.

The Incident - True story about how God works
This is about my Father In Law, James Hamblin.
We asked for and received prayer from many of our crochet family after his accident and during his recovery process. For those who do not know, James fell in October causing multiple injuries which took months to overcome. He is home now and doing well.
This is his story!

"Laughter is an instant vacation." - Milton Berle
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Humor provides us with a valuable tool for
maintaining an inner strength in the midst
of outer turmoil. - Brian Deery
With some misgivings, we left a young baby-sitter in charge of
our three energetic youngsters. When we returned a few, hours
later, she was sitting alone watching TV. I went to check on
the children, and found them in our narrow hallway.
By bracing their arms and legs against the walls, two of them
had climbed up to the ceiling. "The baby-sitter taught us how,"
they said gleefully.
The sitter joined me, her face a deep red. "Since they had me
climbing the walls, I figured they might as well be too," she
stammered.
A company offered tours through the historic district, led by
guides dressed in Colonial clothing. While leading a group,
one of the guides, tripped and fell, breaking his wrist.
He went to the hospital, and as he sat waiting in the emergency
room, a policeman walked by.
Doing a double take at him in his 18th-century garb he asked,
"Just how long have you been waiting?"
The Fourth of July was coming up, and the nursery school
teacher took the opportunity to tell her class about patriotism.
"We live in a great country," she said. "One of the things we
should be happy is that, in this country, we are all free."
One little boy came walking up to her from the back of the
room. He stood with his hands on his hips and said, "I'm
not free. I'm four."
Late for a seminar and unable to find parking, I pulled into a spot behind a church.
It was only after I’d gotten out of the car that I spotted this sign:
"No parking. Forgiveness is our business, but don’t make it harder than it already is."
A little boy got on the elevator in the Empire State Building
in New York City. He and his daddy started to the top. The boy
watched the signs flashing as they went by the floors: 10, 20,
30, 40, 50, 60, 70.
They kept going, and he got nervous. He took his daddy's hand
and said, "Daddy, does God know we're coming?"
Last year at Thanksgiving, my mom went to my sister's house for the traditional holiday feast. Knowing how gullible my sister is, my mom decided to play a trick. She told my sister that she needed something from the store and asked if my sister wouldn't mind going out to get it.
When my sister left the house, my mom took the turkey out of the oven, removed the mixed stuffing, and inserted a Cornish hen into the turkey cavity...then re-stuffed the turkey. She then placed the bird(s) back into the oven.
When it was time for dinner, my sister pulled the turkey out of the oven and proceeded to remove the stuffing. When her serving spoon hit something, she reached in and pulled out the little bird.
With a look of total shock on her face, my mother exclaimed, "Barbara, you've cooked a pregnant bird!"
At the reality of this horrifying news, my sister started to cry. It took the entire family almost two hours to convince her that turkeys lay eggs!
We had built our dream house some years ago, and furnished
it with quality pieces as we could afford them. Now the
delivery truck carrying the last purchase, a new bedroom
suite, was pulling into the driveway.
"Finally!" I exclaimed, flinging open the front door as the
driver walked up to the house. "I've been waiting twelve years
for this!"
"Don't blame me, lady," he said. "I just got the order this
morning."
Little Johnny was left to fix lunch.
When his mother returned with a friend, she noticed that Johnny had already strained the tea.
The two women then sipped their tea happily while having lunch.
"Was it hard finding the tea strainer in the kitchen?" Johnny's mother asked.
"I couldn't find it Ma, so I used the fly swatter," he replied.
His mother nearly fainted, so Johnny hastily added:
"Don't get excited, Ma, I used the old one!”
One night I was tucking my 4-year-old daughter in to bed and I
told her a nightly Bible story.
This night it was the story of the prodigal son. We discussed how
he had taken his inheritance early, left and spent it all on living it
up and partying until he had no money left and had to work on a
pig farm where he couldn't even afford to eat what the pigs ate!
He remembered his father and went back home to ask for a job
and forgiveness. His father welcomed him home with much joy!
After we finished the story I asked my daughter what she learned
and she immediately said, "Never leave home without your credit
card!"
A large, two-engined train was making its way across America.
While crossing the Western mountains, one of the engines broke
down.
"No problem, we can make it to Denver and get a replacement
engine there," the engineer thought, and carried on at half
power.
Farther on down the line, the other engine broke down, and the
train came to a standstill in the middle of nowhere.
The engineer needed to inform the passengers about why the train
had stopped, and always trying to look on the bright side of things,
made the following announcement: "Ladies and Gentlemen, I have some
good news and some bad news.
The bad news is that both engines have failed, and we will be stuck
here for some time until the additional engines arrive.
The good news is that you didn't take this trip in a plane!"

A person checks into a hotel for the first time in his life and
goes up to his room. Five minutes later, he calls the desk and
says, "You've given me a room with no exit. How do I leave?"
The desk clerk says, "Sir, that's absurd. Have you looked for
the door?"
The person says, "Well, there's one door that leads to the bathroom.
There's a second door that goes into the closet. And there's a door
I haven't tried, but it has a 'do not disturb' sign on it."
