The following pattern is my original design.
Please only copy or print this pattern for personal use.

I have not tested this pattern so if you find an error please contact me.

MATERIALS:

Hook: Size C

Yarn: #10 Bedspread Cotton

Stitches used: ch, sl st, sc, dc.

Difficulty: EASY

NOTE: This pattern is worked around the foundation chain.

STEP 1: Ch 42, Sc in 2nd ch from hk, * sk next 2 ch, (dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc) in next ch, sk next 2 ch, sc in next ch. Repeat from * across to last ch. Sc in last ch.

Note: Each (dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc) looks like half of a wagon wheel.

STEP 2: Working back up the other side of the foundation chain, * (dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc) in the center of the first 1/2 wagon wheel. Sc in same sp as first sc on opposite side. Repeat from * across.

After completing the last wheel, sl st in last st at the end of the bookmark.

FASTEN OFF

WEAVE IN ENDS AND ADD A TASSEL IF DESIRED.

TASSEL:

Step 1: Cut a piece of cardboard that is about 3-4 inches long. Wrap the yarn around the cardboard about 20 times (more for a fuller tassel). Cut the yarn so you have 20 separate pieces.

Step 2: Cut another piece of yarn and wrap it around the middle of the 20 strands and tie a knot.

Step 3: Pull both ends of the strand used to tie the middle through the end of the bookmark and wrap each end in opposite directions just above the top of the tassel, then secure it with another knot.

Step 4: Wrap another strand of yarn around the top of the tassel about 1/4-1/2" from the top of the tassel and tie a knot. Using a small crochet hook, pull those strands down through the middle of the tassel.

If these instructions aren't clear enough please send me an email. I have quite a time trying to explain what I did :o)
