Turkey Table Topper Free Crochet Pattern

Measures
12" Wide x 6-1/2" Tall

NOT FOR CHILDREN


The following pattern is my original design.
Please only copy or print this pattern for personal use.
Please contact me if you find any errors.

MATERIALS:

Red Heart Super Saver:
Burgundy, Yellow, Orange, Brown (less than 1 ounce of each color)
I Hook
Two Wiggle Eyes
Yarn Needle
Plastic Bags
Hot Glue Gun & Glue

Stitches: ch, dc, hdc, sc, sc2tog, sl st, tr.

Difficulty: MEDIUM/DIFFICULT


BODY

R1: With Brown, Ch8, sc in the hump of the 2nd ch from hook.
Sc in hump of ea rem ch. (7sc)

Rs2-8: Ch1, turn. Sc in ea st. (7sc)

R9: Ch1, turn. Sc2tog. Sc in next 3sts. Sc2tog. (5sts)

R10: Ch1, turn. Sc2tog. Sc in next st. Sc2tog. (3sts)

Fasten Off.

HEAD

With Brown, ch4, work 11dc in the 4th ch from the hook.
Fasten off.

Join Orange in any st. Ch3. Work 2dc in the same st.
Fasten off.

BEAK

With Yellow, Ch4, sl st in the hump of the 2nd ch from the hook.
Sc in the hump of the next st. Hdc in the hump of the last st.
Fasten off.

FEATHERS
[make 4 Burgundy - 2 Yellow - 4 Orange]

R1: Ch19, sc in the 2nd ch from hook.
Sc in next 2sts. Hdc in next 5sts. Dc in next 7sts.
Tr in next 2sts. 9tr in last st.
Working in the unworked lps along the foundation ch,
Tr in next 2sts. Dc in next 7sts. Hdc in next 5sts. Sc in last 3sts.
Fasten off. [RS]

FEATHER ASSEMBLY

Hold Right Sides of 2 Feathers tog and working through the outer lps. Sl st cor sts tog along the side. ( Do not work into any of the 9tr stitches in the end).

Join Feathers in this color order:
Burgundy, orange, yellow, orange, burgundy.

Make two identical pieces like this:

Using Yellow, holding Wrong Sides of each feather assembly tog. Join yarn through the inner lps of the first st on the bottom RS. Sc inner lps of cor sts tog along side.
Working into the 9tr stitches at the end of each feather,
Sc in the next st. (Ch1, sc in next st) across all five feathers.
(note: the last sc should go into the last tr of the 9tr group on the end of the last feather.)
Sc inner lps of cor sts tog along side.
Do not fasten off.

BOTTOM EDGE

Ch1, work 3sc evenly in the end of ea feather. Join with a sl st.

Fasten off.

FINISHING

1. Sew head and body tog using a yarn needle and same color yarn by whip stitching
4 sts to join.

2. Sew beak onto head. (see photo for placement)

3. Glue 2 wiggle eyes on with hot glue. (see photo for placement)

4. With same color yarn as body and head, sew the turkey to the center of one feather panel.
(see photo for placement)

5. Stuff with plastic shopping bags or set the turkey over a drinking glass.
