following pattern is my original design.

MATERIALS:
Red
Heart Super Saver Worsted Weight 4ply Yarn
(black, buff and burgundy)
Hook
Size H
Yarn Needle
Stitches: ch, sc, rev sc, hdc.
Difficulty: EASY/MEDIUM
R1: Ch14, sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sc in ea rem ch. (13sc)
Rs2-10: Ch1, turn. Sc in ea sc.
BORDER:
R1: Ch1, do not turn. Sc
evenly around entire piece, placing 3sc in ea corner st. Join with sl st.
Fasten
Off Black.
R2: Attach Buff in the BL
only of any corner st. 3sc in bl of that st. Sc in bl of every st around,
placing 3sc in bl of ea corner st.
R3: Ch1, do not turn. Rev sc in ea st around.
APPLE:
R1: Ch2, 6sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with sl st.
R2: Ch1, do not turn. 2sc
in next sc. Sc in next 2sc. Sl st in next sc. Ch2, hdc in same st.
Sl st in next st. 2hdc in last sc. Join with sl st.
Fasten Off leaving a tail
(8-9") and use a yarn needle to attach it to the coaster (see photo above)
working only through the front of the coaster.
