Stuffed Owl Free Crochet Pattern

Measures
5" Wide x 6" Tall


The following pattern is my original design.
Please only copy or print this pattern for personal use.

MATERIALS:

Red Heart Super Saver - 4ply WW Yarn
* Brown = Less than 3 ounces
* Orange = Less than 1/2 ounce
* White = Small amount

Size G Hook
2-Plastic Grocery Bags
Yarn Needle

Stitches: ch, hdc, dc, sc, sc2tog, sl st.

Difficulty: DIFFICULT


BODY
(Make 2)

R1: With Brown, Ch12. Sc in the 2nd ch from the hook.
Sc in ea rem ch. (11sc)

R2: Ch1, turn. 2sc in the 1st st.
Sc in ea st across to the last st.
2sc in the last st. (13sc)

R3: Ch1, turn. Sc in ea st. (13sc)

R4: Rep R2. (15sc)

R5: Rep R3. (15sc)

R6: Rep R2. (17sc)

R7: Rep R3. (17sc)

WINGS
(Make 2)

R1: With brown, Ch11. Dc in the 4th ch from the hook. Dc in ea rem ch. (9dc)

R2: Ch3, turn. Dc in same st. Dc in ea st across to last dc.
2dc in last st. (11dc)

R3: Ch2, turn. 3dc in same st. Hdc in next st. Sk next st.
Sc in next st. Sk next st. 5dc in next st. Sk next st.
Sc in next st. Sk next st. Hdc in next st. (3dc, hdc) in last st.

WING TRIM

Using Orange, Surface Crochet chain stitches along the edge
of each wing as shown in the photo.

EYES
(Make 2)

R1: With Brown, Ch2. 6sc in the 2nd ch from the hook.
Join with a sl st in the first sc.
Fasten off. (6sc)

R2: Join white in any st. 2sc in ea st. Join with a sl st in the first sc.
Fasten off. (12sc)

BEAK

R1: With orange, ch2, 2sc in the second ch from the hook.

R2: Ch1, turn. 2sc in ea st. (4sc)

R3: Ch1, turn. Sc in ea st. (4sc)

Fasten off.

FEET
(Make 2)

R1: With orange, Ch5. Sc in the 2nd ch from the hook. Sc in ea rem ch. (4sc)

R2: Ch1, turn. Sc in ea st. (4sc)

R3: Ch2, turn. Sc in same st.
(Sc, hdc) in next st.
(Hdc, sc) in next st.
(Sc, hdc) in last st.

Fasten off.

ASSEMBLY

1. Weave in the yarn tails on all pieces.

2. Using a length of brown yarn and a yarn needle, sew the eyes on one body piece using the photo as a guide.

3. Attach the Beak to the same body piece using the photo as a guide.

4: To attach wings: Position wings as in the photo on front of the Body piece. Holding both body pieces tog with sts aligned and wings in position, use a length of brown yarn and a yarn needle to Whip Stitch around the Owl leaving the bottom edge open.

5. Stuff the 2 plastic grocery bags into the bottom opening.

6. Align Feet along the bottom edge and align corresponding stitches on both body pieces. Whip Stitch to close the bottom edge.
