The following pattern is my original design.

MATERIALS:

Size 10 Cotton Thread (less than 1/2 ounce of white)
Size 10 Cotton Thread (Less than 1/2 ounce of green)
Steel Hook Size 1
Yarn Needle

Stitches: ch, dc, sl st, sc.

Difficulty:  MEDIUM

FLOWER

R1: With White, (Ch6, join with a sl st in the first ch to form a ring.) 6 times.
Slip stitch in the base of the first ring to join. [6-ch6 lps]

R2: Do not turn. Sc in center of first ring.
(6dc, sc) in same ring.
(Sc, 6dc, sc) in ea rem ring.
Join with a sl st in the first sc.
Fasten off.

R3: Join Green with a sc in sp at the base of any ring.
Sc in same sp. 2sc in sp at the base of ea rem ring.
Join with a sl st in the first sc.
Fasten off.

BOOKMARK

R1: With Green, ch8, sc in the second ch from the hook. Sc in ea rem ch. (RS)

R2: Ch1, turn. Sc in ea st. (7sc)

Rep R2 until piece measures 6" long.

Fasten off.

BORDER:

With White, holding RS facing, join with a sc in the center st on last row. Sc in ea st and row end around, placing 3sc in ea corner. Join with a sl st, leaving about a ten inch yarn tail.

Fasten off.

FINISHING

Using a yarn needle and the yarn tail for sewing. Positition the flower along the top edge of the bookmark (as shown in the photo) and sew it onto the bookmark.

Weave in yarn ends.
