MATERIALS:

4 ply cotton
Hook Size G

Stitches: ch, sl st, sc, dc.

Difficulty: MEDIUM

R1: Ch 33. Dc in 5th ch from hook. (Ch 1, sk next ch, dc in next ch) across. Ch 4, turn. [16 dc]

R2-11: (Sk next ch, dc in next dc) across. Ch 4, turn.

EDGING:

Join with sl st in any corner. Working only in the chain spaces through both pieces held together. (Ch 4, sc in next sp) around, working same twice in each corner.

RUFFLING:

With the double crochet rows turned so the posts of the doubles look like a ladder (vertical), join yarn with a sl st around the 1st double crochet post. (this is on the edge)
* Ch 4, sc around next dc post
Rep from * working back and forth across each row.
At each row end work the (ch 4, sc) around the end double crochet in order to start back across the next row. Keep working in this manner until the entire piece has the ruffled look on that side.

OPTIONS:

1. Work the ruffling on the opposite side.

2. Work the Edging and Ruffling in a contrasting color.
