Peppermint Square Coaster

The following pattern is my original design.
Please only copy or print this pattern for personal use.
Please contact me if you find any errors.

MATERIALS:

Red Heart 4 ply Worsted Weight
G Hook

Stitches Used: ch, sl st, sc, rev sc.

The Reverse Single - rev sc - (a/k/a crab stitch) is an awkward stitch.
It is simply a regular single crochet stitch worked in the opposite direction.
The best advice I can give for this stitch is to make your stitches somewhat loose by pulling up the loop just a bit more than you normally would.
You can find illustrated instructions here:

http://crochet.about.com/hobbies/crochet/library/weekly/aa112997.htm

Difficulty: MEDIUM

R 1: Holding two strands of yarn together, ch 12, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each rem ch. (11 sc)

R 2-10: Ch 1, sc in ea sc, turn.

R 11: Ch 1, sc in ea sc. Do not turn.

EDGING: Sc evenly around entire coaster placing 3 sc in ea corner.

OPTIONAL - additional edging row.
Do not turn. Ch 1, rev sc in ea st around for a rolled edge.

HAPPY CROCHETING
