This pattern can be made longer to accomodate knitting needles also. Just make the main strip longer.

The following pattern is my original design.
Please only copy or print this pattern for personal use.
Please contact me if you find any errors.

MATERIALS:

Simply Soft 4 ply Worsted Weight Yarn
Hook Size G
Yarn Needle

Stitches: Ch, Sc, Sl St.

Difficulty: EASY/MEDIUM

R1: Ch3, sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sc in last ch. (2sc)

R2: Ch1, turn. 2sc in ea sc. (4sc)

R3: Ch1, turn. 2sc in first sc. Sc in next 2 sc. 2sc in last sc. (6sc)

R4: Ch1, turn. Sc in ea sc.

Repeat R4 until piece measures 15" (if you need to make it longer keep repeating R4 until desired length)

EDGE

Ch1, do not turn. Sc in ea row end and st around entire strip, placing extra stitches in the corners.

Fasten off.

Fold the straight end up 5-1/4" (or where you want it). Using same yarn and a yarn needle, whip stitch the corresponding stitches together through the inner loops only (when you hold two rows of stitching together you have 4 loops... only work through the two loops that are close to each other).

CLOSURE

R1: Ch3, sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sc in ea rem ch.

R2: Ch1, turn. Sc in ea sc.

Rs3-11: Rep R2.

Fasten off.

Sew short ends of closure onto sides of pouch so you can fold the top flap down and insert it beneath the closure. Insert hooks or pen(s) and secure the flap.
