Heart Baby Bib Free Crochet Pattern

Measures 8-1/2" Wide x 6-1/2" Long without ties


The following pattern is my original design.
Please only copy or print this pattern for personal use.
Please contact me if you find any errors.

MATERIALS:

Red Heart Super Saver-4ply worsted weight (White)
Red Heart Super Saver-4ply worsted weight (Blue)


Abbreviations for colors:
     White (MC) - 2 oz
     Blue (CC) - 1/2 oz

Hook Size G

Stitches: ch, sc, sc2tog, sl st.

Difficulty:  MEDIUM


R1: With MC, ch30. Sc in the 2nd ch from the hook. Sc in ea rem ch. (29sc) [RS]

Rs2-24: Ch1, turn. Sc in ea st.

FIRST TIE

R25: Ch1, turn. Sc in 7sts.

R26: Ch1,turn. Sc2tog. Sc in ea rem st. (6sts)

R27: Ch1, turn. Sc in ea st. (6sts)

R28: Ch1, turn. Sc2tog. Sc in ea rem st. (5sts)

Rs29-35: Rep R27. (5sts)

R36: Rep R28. (4sts)

R37: Rep R27. (4sts)

R38: Rep R28. (3sts)

R39: Rep R27. (3sts)

R40: Rep R28. (2sts)

Rs41-80: Rep R27. (2sts)

Fasten Off.

SECOND TIE

R1: With RS facing (first tie on right side of work), attach same yarn with a sc in the 7th st from the end of R24. Sc in next 6sts. (7sc)

R2: Ch1, turn. Sc in ea st across to last 2sts. Sc2tog. (6sts)

R3: Ch1, turn. Sc in ea st. (6sts)

R4: Rep R2. (5sts)

Rs5-11: Rep R3. (5sts)

R12: Ch1, turn. Sc2tog. Sc in ea rem st. (4sts)

R13: Rep R3. (4sts)

R14: Rep R12. (3sts)

R15: Rep R3. (3sts)

R16: Rep R12. (2sts)

Rs17-56: Rep R3. (2sts)

BORDER: With CC, Join with a sc in any st. Sc in ea st and row end around, placing 3sc in both bottom corners and 2sc in both sts on the ends of each tie.
Join with sl st in first sc..

Fasten off.

FINISHING

Surface crochet using slip stitches to form a heart on the bib as shown in the photo. (see video below)
