Happy Pumpkin Treat Bag Free Crochet Pattern

Bag measures 8-3/4" tall w/o handles and 9-3/4" wide.

The following pattern is my original design.
Please only copy or print this pattern for personal use.
Please contact me if you find any errors.

 

MATERIALS:

Hook Size H
Red Heart Super Saver (approx 4-5 oz) - Orange
Sport Weight Yarn - Black
Yarn Needle

Stitches Used: ch, sc, hdc, dc.

Difficulty: EASY/MEDIUM


FRONT & BACK

Row 1: With Orange, Ch 40, 2dc in 4th ch from hook. * Sk next 2 ch. Sc in next ch. Sk next 2 ch. 5 dc in next ch. Rep from * 4 more times. Sk next 2 ch, sc in next ch, sk next 2 ch,. 3 dc in last ch. Ch 1, turn.

Row 2: Sc in same st as beg ch 1. Sk next 2 dc. 5 dc in next sc. * Sk next 2 dc. Sc in next dc (this is the center dc of the 5 dc group). Sk next 2 dc. 5 dc in next sc. Rep from * 4 more times. Sk next 2 dc. Sc in last dc. Ch 3, turn.

Row 3: 2 dc in same st as beg ch 3. * Sk next 2 dc. Sc in next dc (this is the center dc of the 5 dc group). Sk next 2 dc. 5 dc in next sc. Rep from * 4 more times. Sk next 2 dc. Sc in next dc (center of 5 dc group). Sk next 2 dc. 3 dc in last sc. Ch 1, turn.

Rows 4-19: Alternate Rows 2 and 3, ending with Row 3.

Fasten Off.

EYES & NOSE - make 3 -

Row 1. Ch 2, 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Ch 1, turn.

Row 2: 2 sc in eash st. Ch 1, turn.

Row 3: 2 sc in same st as beg ch 1. Sc in next 2 sts. 2 sc in last st. Ch 1, turn.

Border: Sc in each st and row end around entire piece, placing 3 sc in ea corner. Join with sl st in 1st sc.

Fasten off leaving a 10" length of yarn for sewing.

MOUTH

Ch 16, 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook. * Sc in next ch, 2 sc in next ch. Rep from * across. Fasten off leaving a 12"-14" length of yarn for sewing.

ADDING THE FACE: Holding the front piece with the foundation row on the top and referring to the photo, sew on eyes, nose and mouth using a yarn needle.

ASSEMBLY: Holding the front and back pieces together with the face on the outside and using orange yarn, join with a sl st in the upper corner at the left of the face. Sc in same st and in each rem st around to the upper corner on the opposite side. NOTE: Be sure to place 3 sc in each bottom corner.

TOP OPENING EDGE: Sc evenly around entire opening, join with a sl st in the first sc. Fasten off.

HANDLES - make 2 -

Ch 50, hdc in 3rd ch from hook an in each rem ch, place 5 hdc in the last ch. Hdc in the unworked lp of each foundation ch. Add 3 additional hdc to the last ch to make 5 hdc on that end of the handle. Join with a sl st in the top of the first hdc. Fasten Off. Attach the handles on the inside of the front and back piece as shown in the photo.
