Gunner's Baby Hat Free Crochet Pattern

Newborn

 


The following pattern is my original design.
Please only copy or print this pattern for personal use.
Please contact me if you find any errors.

MATERIALS:

Red Heart Super Saver - Camo (less than one 2 ounces)
Hook Size H

Stitches: ch, rev sc, sc, sc2tog, sl st.

Difficulty:  MEDIUM


R1: Ch37, sc in the second ch from the hook. Sc in ea rem ch. (36 sc)

Rs2-14: Begin working in a continuous round. Bring ends of R1 tog, sc in ea sc. (36 sc)
Place a marker at the beg of ea new rnd and continue working in sc.

R15: Place marker. (Sc in 4sts, sc2tog) around. (30 sts)

R16: Place marker. (sc in 3sts, sc2tog) around (24 sts)

R17: Place marker. Sc in ea st. (24 sts)

R18: Place marker. (sc in 2sts, sc2tog) around (18 sts)

R19: Place marker. (sc2tog) around (9 sts)

R20: Sc in ea st. (9 sts)

Sl st in next st.

Fasten off leaving a 6-8" tail. Using a yarn needle, weave tail through rem sts and pull opening closed.

BRIM

R1: Attach yarn with a sc in unworked lp of any st along the foundation row. Sc in 13 more sts. (14sts)

R2: Ch1, turn. Sc in ea st. (14sts)

Rs3-4: Ch1, turn. Sc2tog. Sc in ea st across to last 2sts. Sc2tog. (R3=12sts & R4=10sts)

R5: Ch1, turn. Sc in ea st. (10sts)

Rs6-7: Ch1, turn. 2sc in the first st. Sc in ea st across to last st. 2sc in last st. (R6=12sts & R7=14sts)

Rs8-9: Ch1, turn. Sc in ea st. (14sc)

Fasten off leaving approximately 20" length of yarn for sewing.

FINISHING

Using a yarn needle, fold R9 up to R1 and sew cor sts tog.

Reattach yarn in any unworked st along the foundaiton row and rev sc around the entire hat and brim, working through both thicknesses on the brim.

Join with a sl st and fasten off.
