MATERIALS:

Size 10 Bedspread Cotton (Small amounts of red, white and blue)
Steel Hook Size 1 / 2.75mm
Card Stock
Glue or Needle and Thread

Stitches: ch, dc, sc, sl st.

Difficulty: MEDIUM

R1: With Red, Ch13, 2sc in the 2nd ch from the hook.
2sc in ea rem ch. (24sc) Join with a sl st in the 1st sc made.
(center circle is formed) Pull beginning yarn tail through the base of the same st to join the base of this round.

R2: Ch3 (counts as 1dc), do not turn. Dc in next 5sts. Ch3.
(Dc in the next 6sts. Ch3) 3 times.
Join with a sl st in the top of the beg ch3.

Fasten off.

R3: Join White in any corner sp with a sc. (Sc, ch2, 2sc) in the same corner sp.
Sc in the next 6dc. * (2sc, ch2, 2sc) in the next corner sp. Sc in the next 6dc.
Rep from * around. Join with a sl st in the first sc.

Fasten off.

R4: Join Blue with a sl st in any corner.
Ch3, (2dc, ch2, 3dc) in the same corner sp.
(Ch2. Sk 2sts. Dc in the next 2sts) twice.
Ch2, sk 2 sts
* (3dc, ch2, 3dc) in corner sp.
(ch2. Sk 2sts, Dc in the next 2sts) twice.
Ch2. Sk 2sts.
Rep from * twice.
Join with a sl st in the top of beg ch3.

Fasten off.

MAKE THE CARD

Fold the piece of card stock in half to form a card. Glue or sew the motif onto the card.
I sewed mine on using white thread and a sewing needle, sewing it to the card near the corners on the white round. I wrote Happy Birthday but you can use this for any occasion.
