MATERIALS:
Red Heart Super Saver (Soft White) - less than 8 ounces
Lion Brand Homespun (Rococo) - less than 8 ounces
Hook - Size J
Button
Sewing Needle
Coordinating Sewing Thread
Stitches used: ch, sl st, sc. dc.
Difficulty: MEDIUM
ENTIRE PATTERN IS WORKED HOLDING TWO STRANDS OF YARN TOGETHER
(One strand of each kind.)
ENDS (Make 2)
R1: Ch 4, 13 dc in 4th ch from hook. Join with sl st in top of beg ch-4. Ch 3, turn. (14 dc) [Right Side]
R2: Dc in same sp. 2dc in each dc. Join with sl st in 1st dc. Ch 3, turn. (28dc)
R3: Dc in same sp. Dc in next st. (2dc in next st, dc in next st) around. Join with sl st in 1st dc. (42 dc)
Fasten Off.
PURSE CENTER
R1: Ch 43, sc in hump of 2nd ch from hook. Sc in hump of ea rem ch. (42 sc)
R2-14) Ch 1, turn. Sc in each sc.
JOINING:
Holding the right side of one of the ends facing you. Align the end of one long side of purse center to the end piece and sc corresponding sts tog. Rep for other end.
HANDLES (Make 2)
(ch2, sc in 2nd ch from hk) 12 times.
Sew to purse using same yarn, being careful to center handles on each side of the purse center.
FLAP:
R1: On main piece, working in the 3 center sts between each end of one handle. Join yarn in st to right of center st. Sc in same st. Sc in next 2 sts.
R2-6: Ch 1, turn. Sc in ea st.
R7: Ch 1, turn. Sc in same sp. (Ch 1, sk next sc - this forms a button hole), Sc in last st.
R8: Ch 1, turn. Sc in same st. Sc in ch-1 sp. Sc in last st.
R9: Sk sp at base of ch 1, 2 sc in next st. Sl st in last st.
FASTEN OFF.
FINISHING: Fold flap over purse and sew button where needed.
