Dog Sweater with Ribbed Edge Crochet Pattern

This is Sawyer wearing his new sweater.
I made his a little big
because he doesn't like a snug fit.

Sawyer's is a Miniature Schnauzer
His measurements:
Weight 22 pounds.
Height = 15-1/2"
Neck = 11"
Head to Tail = 22"
Chest = 22"
Waist = 19"

The following pattern is my original design.
Please only copy or print this pattern for personal use.
Please contact me if you find any errors.

MATERIALS:

Caron Simply Soft (not sure the color as this yarn was from my stash and the label was missing)

Hook Size H

Stitches: ch, sc, sl st, dc, fpdc, bpdc.

Difficulty:  MEDIUM/DIFFICULT

R1: Ch50 (or any even number of chains to fit your dog's neck)
Dc in 4th ch from hook. Dc in ea rem ch.
Being careful not to twist, join with sl st in top of first st to form a ring.

Rs2-3: Sl st around FP of same st. Ch3.
BPDC around next st.
(FPDC around next st. BPDC around next st.) around.
Join with sl st in top of beg ch3.
Do not turn.

[begin short rows]

R4: Ch3, do not turn. Dc in same st. (Dc in next st, 2dc in next st) across half of R3. (I had 32dc)

Rs5-10: Ch3, turn. Dc in ea st. (32dc)

You can repeat this row as many times as needed so the last short row is just behind the dog's front legs.

[rounds begin again]

R11: [CHEST] Ch52, (or even number to go around dog's chest just behind front legs)
Being careful not to twist, join with sl st in the top of the first st of last round.
Ch3, dc in ea dc and ch around. Join with a sl st in the top of the beg ch3. (84dc)

R12: Ch3, do not turn. Dc in same sp. Sk next st.
(2dc in next st, sk next st) around.
Join with sl st in top of beg ch3. (84dc)

Rs13-14: Rep R12.

R15: Ch3, do not turn. Dc in ea st around. (I had 63dc)
NOTE: Count your stitches for R15... if you have an odd number of stitches, work another dc in the last st.
(I did that and had 64dc)

Rs16-17: Sl st around FP of same st. Ch3.
BPDC around next st.
(FPDC around next st. BPDC around next st.) around.
Join with sl st in top of beg ch3.

FINISHING
CHEST OPENING

Holding the neck of the sweater on the right so the left side is toward you,
join same yarn with a sl st in the second stitch on the bottom edge of the neck.
Work 2sc around the post of ea st at the end of ea short row.
Sc in each unworked lp of ea st along the chest edge.
2sc around the post of ea st at the end of ea short row.
Sl st in the 2nd st on the bottom edge of the neck.

Fasten off.
