I designed the dog sweater crochet pattern on the left for my Miniature Schnauzer, Schotzi. Lisa
Candace Thompson made the sweater on the right and has been so gracious in allowing us to post her instructions.

MATERIALS:  Variegated yarn

Yarn is: Caron Rainbown Dreams, Co-ordinates with One Pound colors 100% Acrylic. Machine washable and dryable. Net wt. 10 oz. Color: Rosy Forecast 599

G size hook & 

Gauge:

4 single crochets = 1 inch. 

1 row of single crochets = ½ inch

group of slip and single crochets (about 5 total) = 1 inch

3 rows of slip stitch and single crochet = 1 ¾ inch

 

Please read through the directions of this pattern before you start. 

Some of my other patterns I chained 52 vs. 54. 

I will always chain 54 from here on out.  Gives Padee more room.

 

RND 1: Chain 54, join with sl st being careful not to twist the chain.

Ch 2, hdc in next ch and in each ch around. Join with sl st in top of beg ch 2. Ch 2. DO NOT TURN.

 

RND 2: Hdc in next st and in each st around. Join with sl st in top of beg ch 2. Do not turn. Chain 2.

 

RND 3:  Hdc in next st and in each st around. Join with sl st in top of beg ch 2. Do not turn. Chain 3.

 

RND 4:  Triple stitch, slip stitch, triple stitch, slip stitch and in each st around.  Join wit sl st in top of beg ch 3.  Do not turn.  Chain 2.

 

RND 5: Hdc, in next st and in each st around.  Join each st around.  Join with sl st in top of beg ch 2. Do not turn.Chain 2. 

 

RND 6: Hdc in next st and in each st around.  Join each st around.  Join with sl st in top of beg ch 2. Do not turn. Chain 3. 

 

RND 7:  Triple stitch, triple stitch, triple stitch, slip stitch, slip stitch, continue pattern to the end of the row.  Join with sl st in top of beg ch 1.  Do not turn.  Chain 1.

 

RND 8:  Slip stitch, sl st, sl st, triple stitch, triple stitch, continue pattern to the end of the row.  Join with sl st in top of ch 1. Do not turn.  Chain 1.

 

RND 9: Single crochet, continue pattern throughout the entire row. Join with sl st in top of beg ch 1. Chain 1. Do not turn.  Chain 2.

 

RND 10: Hdc in next st and in each st around.  Join wit sl st in top of beg ch 2.  Do not turn.  Chain 3.

 

RND 11: Triple stitch, slip stitch, triple stitch, slip stitch, continue pattern throughout the entire row.  Join with sl st in top of beg chain 3.  Do not turn.  Chain 3.

 

 

RND 12: Triple stitch, triple stitch, triple stitch, sc, sc, sc, continue pattern throughout the entire row.  Join with sl st in top of beg chain 3.  Do not turn.  Chain 1.

 

 

RND 13:  sc, sc, sc, triple stitch, triple stitch, triple stitch, continue pattern throughout the entire row.  Join with sl st in top of beg chain 1.  Do not turn.  Chain 2.

 

RND 14:  Hdc, slip stitch, hdc, slip stitch, continue pattern throughout the entire row.  Join with sl st in top of beg chain 2.  Do not turn.  Chain 2.

 

 

RND 15: Hdc in next st and in each st around.  Join with sl st in top of beg ch 2.  Do not turn.  Chain 3.

 

RND 16: Triple crochet in next st and in each st around. Join with sl st in top of beg ch 3. Ch 1. Do not turn. 

 

RND 17-18: Single crochet, slip stitch, single crochet, slip stitch, continue pattern throughout the entire row. Join with sl st in top of beg ch 1. Chain 1. Do not turn.

 

RND: 19: Single crochet in next st and in each st around. Join with sl st in top of beg ch 1. Ch 1. Do not turn. 

 

RND 20: Sl st in the next 25 sts. Ch 2, hdc in next 29 sts Ch 2, TURN.

 

RND 21: Hdc in next st and in each st around.  Ch 1.  Turn.

 

RND 22: Single crochet, slip stitch, single crochet, slip stitch, continue pattern throughout the entire row. Chain 1, Turn

 

RND 23: Slip stitch, sc, slip stitch, sc, continue pattern throughout the entire row. Chain 1, Turn

 

RND 24: Single crochet, slip stitch, single crochet, slip stitch, continue pattern throughout the entire row. Chain 1, Turn

 

RND 25: Slip stitch, sc, slip stitch, sc, continue pattern throughout the entire row. Chain 1, Turn

 

RND 26: Single crochet, slip stitch, single crochet, slip stitch, continue pattern throughout the entire row. Chain 1, Turn

 

 

RND: 27: Single crochet, slip stitch, single crochet, slip stitch, continue pattern throughout the entire row. 

 

Now start the neck chain.

 

CHAIN 30 (for the neck), join with slip stitch to opposite side of row just completed.  Be careful to not twist the chain.   Chain 1.

 

RND 31: Single crochet in each stitch (around count 30 for the chain and count 29 for the neck).   Slip stitch to chain 1.  Chain1.

 

RND 32: Single crochet, slip stitch, single crochet, slip stitch, continue pattern throughout the entire row; around the chain 30 and the next 29 stitches.  Total of 59 stitches.  Slip stitch to chain 1.  Chain1.

 

RND 33: Single crochet in each stitch, continue pattern throughout the entire row; around the chain 30 and the next 29 stitches.  Total of 59 stitches.  Slip stitch to chain 1.  Chain1.

 

 

RND 34-35: Hdc, slip stitch, hdc, slip stitch, continue pattern throughout: around the chain 30 and the next 29 stitches.  Total of 59 stitches.  Slip stitch to chain 1.  Chain2.

 

RND 36-37: Hdc in each stitch. Around the chain 30 and the next 29 stitches.  Total of 59 stitches.  Slip stitch to chain 2.  Chain2.  After row 37, chain 3 for the beginning of RND 38.

 

RND 38:  Triple crochet, slip stitch, triple crochet, slip stitch.  Follow this pattern for 29 stitches

(DO NOT go around the chain 30). 

This will give it a "bumpy/ruffle" effect.  Real nice way to end the collar.

 

 

 

FASTEN OFF.    WEAVE IN ALL YARN ENDS.
