MATERIALS:

2 ply Cotton
Steel Hook Size 5
Small Button
Yarn Needle
Stitches Used: ch, sl st, sc, hdc

Difficulty: EASY/MEDIUM

PURSE

R1: Ch12, hdc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across to last ch. 5hdc in last ch. Hdc in each unworked lp of foundation ch across to last. 3hdc in last ch for a total of 5hdc in that ch. Join with sl st. Ch2. Do not turn.

R2: Hdc in same st as beg ch2. Work 2 hdc in each of the 5 end sts and one hdc in each st down the sides. Join with sl st in top of beg ch2. Ch 1. Do not turn.

R3: Sc in bl only of same st as beg ch1. Sc in bl only of each rem st around entire piece.
Do not join.

R4: Place Marker. Sc in ea st of prev rnd.

Rep R4 until cell phone is covered except for the antenna. End the last round with a sl st on one side.

FLAP

R1: Ch6, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in ea rem ch. Ch1, turn.

R2-7: Sc in ea st across. Ch1, turn.

R8: Sc in same st as beg ch1. Hdc in next st. Ch1, sk next st (this is the button hole).
Hdc in next st. Sc in last st. Ch1, do not turn.

EDGING

Sc in ea st and in ea row end around entire piece placing extra sts as needed in corners.

HANDLE

Make a chain as long as you want. I made the one in the photo long enough to be worn as a shoulder strap.
Hdc in the 3rd ch from the hook and in ea rem ch. Placing 5 hdc in the last ch. Working back up the opposite side of the foundation chain, hdc in each unworked lp. Place 3 more hdc in the end ch to make a total of 5 hdcs in that end. Join with a sl st.

FINISHING

Using a yarn needle and the same thread you crocheted with, sew the flap onto the back center of the purse. Attach the button to the center front so it aligns with the button hole on the flap. Sew the handle to the inside of the purse on each side being careful not to twist the handle.

Fasten Off.
