CD Gift Envelope

The following pattern is my original design.
Please only copy or print this pattern for personal use.
Please contact me if you find any errors.

MATERIALS:

Hook: Size H
Red Heart Super Saver
9-Beads in assorted colors
Yarn Needle
1- 3/4" Button
Sewing Needle and coordinating thread.

Stitches used: ch, sl st, sc, sc dec.

Difficulty: EASY/MEDIUM

R1: Ch 21, sc in hump of 2nd ch from hook. Sc in hump of ea rem ch.

R2-50: Sc in ea sc. Ch 1, turn. (Place Marker at end of Row 50)

BEGIN FLAP:

R51: Sc dec over 1st 2 sc. Sc across to last 2 sc. Sc dec over last 2 sc. Ch 1, turn.

R52-58: Rep R51.

R59: (Sc dec over 2 sc) twice. Ch 1, turn.

R60: Sc dec over both sts. Ch 1, turn.

EDGING: Sc evenly around entire piece placing extra stitches at the corners. Join with sl st in first sc made. Fasten off leaving a 10" strand of yarn.

FINISHING: Fold Row 1 to Row 50. Be careful to align corresponding stitches and sew them together with a yarn needle and the same color yarn. (Of the 4 loops comprising every two corresponding stitches I only stitched through the two inner loops, working back and forth, never going through the same loop twice.)

Fold the flap down over the front of the envelope. Using the sewing needle and thread, sew the button just below the point of the flap on the front side (not to the flap). Thread the beads on the strand of yarn left at the point of the flap and tie a knot toward the end of the yarn to keep them from sliding off (this leaves some yarn to use for closing the envelope).
Insert CD, fold flap over and wind the yarn tie around the button to close.
