Cable Scarf and Hat Crochet Pattern

Hat Measures
9" tall x 10" wide when laying flat, not stretched.
Hat Size: Adult Woman, head circumference 22-1/2"

Gauge:
4 Rows = 4"
2 Cables + 6trs = 6"

The following pattern is my original design.

MATERIALS:

Red Heart Super Saver (Less than 3oz)
Hook Size H
Yarn Needle

Stitches: ch, tr, tr2tog, tr3tog, sl st, picot, cable over cable.

Tr2tog:
Work a treble in the next stitch (without completing the last step)
Work a treble in the next stitch (without completing the last step)
Now yarn over and draw through all loops on the hook.

Tr3tog:
Work a treble in the next stitch (without completing the last step)
Work a treble in the next stitch (without completing the last step)

Work a treble in the next stitch (without completing the last step)
Now yarn over and draw through all loops on the hook.

Picot:
Ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hk.

Cable over cable:
Sk 3sts, tr in next 3sts.
Working in front of last 3sts, tr in ea of the 3sts you skipped.

Difficulty: MEDIUM/DIFFICULT


R1: Ch56. Join to form a ring, being careful not to twist.
Ch4 (counts as 1tr) Tr in next st.
Sk next 3chs. Tr in next 3chs.
Working in front of last 3trs, tr in ea of the 3chs you skipped. [Left leaning cable made]
* Tr in next 2chs.
Sk 3chs, tr in 3chs.
Working in front of last 3trs, tr in ea of the 3chs you skipped. [Left leaning cable made]
Rep from * around.
Join with sl st in top of beg ch4. (7cables + 14 trs)

R2: Ch4 (counts as 1tr), do not turn. Tr in next tr.
Cable over next cable.
(Tr in next 2tr. Cable over next cable) around.
Join with sl st in top of beg ch4.

R3: Ch4 (counts as 1tr), do not turn. Tr bet posts of 1st 2trs.
Tr in next tr. (this makes a 3tr set)
Cable over next cable.
[Tr in next tr, tr bet posts of 2trs, tr in next tr (this makes a 3tr set)
Cable over next cable.] around.
Join with sl st in top of beg ch4.

R4: Ch4 (counts as 1tr), do not turn. Tr in next 2tr.
Cable over next cable.
[Tr in next 3tr. Cable over next cable] around.
Join with sl st in top of beg ch4.

Rs5-8: Rep R4.

R9: Ch4 (counts as 1tr. Do not turn.
Tr2tog
Cable over next cable.
[Tr3tog. Cable over next Cable] around.
Join with sl st in top of beg ch4.

Fasten off leaving an 18" yarn tail for sewing.

FINISHING
Using the yarn needle, weave the yarn tail through the rem sts and draw the opening closed.

EDGING
Join same yarn with a sc in any st along foundation edge.
Sc in next st. Picot.
[Sc in next 2sts. Picot.] around.
Join with sl st in 1st sc.

Fasten off.
