The following pattern is my original design.

MATERIALS:
Red Heart 4-ply ww yarn (White and Green)
Hook Size H
Stitches: ch, sl st, sc, dc.
Difficulty: EASY/MEDIUM
R1: With White, Ch6, join to form a ring. Ch4, (Dc in ring, ch1) 11 times. Join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch4.
Fasten Off.
R2: Attach green in any ch-1 sp. Ch11, sc in same sp. Sc in next st. *(Sc, ch11, sc) in next ch-1 sp. Sc in next st. Rep from * around. Join with sl st at base of first ch-11.
Fasten Off.
EDGE: Working with ch-11 loops on R2.
Pull lp2 underneath and through lp1,
Pull lp3 underneath and through lp2,
Pull lp4 underneath and through lp3,
Pull lp5 underneath and through lp4,
Continue until all loops are braided.
Holding the last lp over the first lp, add a strand of yarn as a hanger to secure.
When braided, the loops look like a big crocheted chain laying on top of the Round 1. There should be a little "lip" of sorts that will hold your photo. Cut a piece of cardboard to fit inside the opening and then use that to cut your actual photo.
