MATERIALS:
Hook: Size B
Yarn: J & P Coats - Cotton Knit-Cro-Sheen (100% Mercerized Cotton)
Stitches used: ch, sl st, sc.
Difficulty: EASY
ROW 1: Ch 13, sc in 2nd ch from hk and in each ch across. (12 sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 2: Sc in each sc. Fasten off.
ROW 3: Re-attach yarn in the 4th sc from the right (doesn't matter which side you're on).
Sc in same sc, sc in next 5 sc.
NOTE: You should have 3 unworked sc on each side on the previous row.
Ch 1, turn.
ROW 4: 2 sc in 1st sc. sc in next 4 sc. 2 sc in last sc. (8 sc).
ROW 5: Sc in each sc, ch 1, turn.
ROW 6: Repeat Row 4. (10 sc).
ROW 7-8: Repeat Row 5,
ROW 9: Repeat Row 4. (12 sc).
ROW 10-16: Repeat Row 5.
After Row 16, Ch 15 and sl st to the other end of Row 16 to begin the skirt of the evening gown. (Be careful not to twist the chain). This should make the skirt of the evening gown large enough to go over Barbies hips. If not, add chains until it fits.
The gown above was a very snug fit. I used a very old Barbie and I'm not sure if the new Barbies are the same size.
Ch 1, turn.
ROW 17: Sc in each ch and in each sc around. Join with sl st to 1st sc. Ch 1, turn.
ROW 18: Working in a continuous round, sc in each sc until the gown is desired length.
Work a sl st in the last st before fastening off.
I fastened the neckband around Barbie's neck with thread but you could add a hook & eye if you wish.
