The following pattern is my original design.

MATERIALS:

Red Heart Super Saver (White - less than 1 ounce)
G Hook
Water Balloon

Stitches: ch, dc, sc, sl st.

Difficulty: MEDIUM

R1: Ch5, dc in 5th ch from hook.
(Ch1, dc in same ch) 7 times.
Join with sl st in 4th ch of beg Ch5.

R2: Do not turn. Sc in next ch-sp.
Ch3, (Sc in next ch-sp, ch3) 8 times.
Join with a sl st in the first sc.

R3: Do not turn. Sl st in the next ch.
Sc in same ch-sp. Ch3.
(Sc in next ch-sp. Ch3) 8 times.
Join with a sl st in the first sc.

Rs4-7: Rep R3.

R8: Do not turn. Sl st in the next ch.
Sc in the same ch-sp. Ch2.
(Sc in the next ch-sp. Ch2) 8 times.
Join with sl st in the first sc.

Inflate the balloon to fit and insert it into the ornament.

R9: Do not turn. Ch3 (counts as 1dc)
Dc in ea sc around. (9dc)
Join with a sl st in the top of the beg ch3.

Do not draw the opening closed as this will be where you can insert a new balloon if needed.

Fasten off.

Add a hanger at the opening with a strand of the same color yarn.

OPTIONAL:
You can use a ribbon for the hanger if you want.
