Measures 6-1/2" tall with band folded up x 6-1/2" wide along bottom edge

The following pattern is my original design.

MATERIALS:

Red Heart Shimmer (Red - 1-1/2 oz)
Red Heart Shimmer (White - 1/2oz)
Hook Size H
Yarn Needle

Stitches: ch, sc, sc2tog

Difficulty: MEDIUM

BAND

R1: Using Red, ch5, sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sc in ea rem ch. (4sc)

Rs2-42: Ch1, turn. Sc in BL only of ea st. (4sc)

Fold piece holding R1 and R42 tog. Sl st corresponding sts tog.
Do not fasten off.

HAT

R1: Ch1, working along the Band edge, sc in ea row end.
Do not join, do not turn. (42sc)

R2: Place Marker, do not turn, sc in ea sc around (42sc)

Rs3-18: Rep R2. (42sc)

R19: Place marker. (Sc in 4sts, sc2tog) around (35sts)

R20: Place marker. (Sc in 3sts, sc2tog) around (28sts)

R21: Place marker. (Sc in 2sts, sc2tog) around (21sts)

R22: Place marker. (Sc in next st, sc2tog) around (14sts)

R23: Place marker. (sc2tog) around (7sts)

Fasten off leaving an 8" yarn tail.
Thread the yarn needle and weave through the sts on the
last round and draw the opening closed.

NOTE: Work extra rows for BAND to make a larger size.
Continue with the HAT instructions and decrease accordingly
until you can draw the top closed.

Using White, make a Pom Pom to attach to the top of the hat.
POM POM: Wrap yarn around 3 fingers 30-50 times.
Tie in the middle and cut all the loops. Then shake it and trim
any long strands so the pom pom looks even.
