MATERIALS:

Red Heart Super Saver-4ply worsted weight (white & red)
Hook Size G (for square)
Hook Size F (for stem)

Stitches: ch, sc, sl st.

Abbreviations for colors:
     White (W)
     Red (R)
Pattern specifies how many single crochet stitches to work for each color.

Difficulty:  MEDIUM

R1: With White and the G hook, ch29. Sc in the 2nd ch from the hook. Sc in ea rem ch.

Rs2-4: Ch1, turn. Sc in ea sc.

R5: Ch1, turn. 9W, 3R, 4W, 3R, 9W.

R6: Ch1, turn. 8W, 5R, 2W, 5R, 8W.

R7: Ch1, turn. 8W, 12R, 8W.

R8: Ch1, turn. 7W, 14R, 7W.

R9: Ch1, turn. 6W, 16R, 6W.

R10: Ch1, turn. 6W, 16R, 6W.

R11: Ch1, turn. 5W, 18R, 5W.

R12: Ch1, turn. 5W, 18R, 5W.

Rs13-20: Ch1, turn. 4W, 20R, 4W.

R21: Ch1, turn. 5W, 18R, 5W.

R22: Ch1, turn. 6W, 7R, 2W, 7R, 6W.

R23: Ch1, turn. 7W, 4R, 6W, 4R, 7W.

Rs24-28: Ch1, turn. Sc in ea sc using White.

BORDER: Ch1, turn. Sc in ea sc and in ea row end, placing 3sc in ea corner.
Join with sl st.

Fasten off.

STEM: Using Brown and the F hook, join with sl st in one of the front loops of a stitch at the top center of the apple. Sl st in a few stitches to form a stem. Fasten off and secure the yarn ends.
