Aligned Shells Afghan Square Free Crochet Pattern

Measures
approximately 6"x6"


The following pattern is my original design.
Please only copy or print this pattern for personal use.
Please contact me if you find any errors.

MATERIALS:

Caron Simply Soft
    CA = Embroidery Print (less than 1 ounce)
Hook Size H

Gauge:
2 shells tall = 2"
2 shells wide = 3"

Stitches: ch, dc, sc, sl st.

Difficulty: MEDIUM


R1: Ch21. 5dc in the 6th ch from the hook.
(Sk next 2chs, dc in next ch, sk next 2chs, 5dc in next ch) 2x.

R2: Ch1, turn. Sc in same st. (Ch2, sk next 2sts, sc in next st) across.

R3: Ch3, turn. (5dc in next sc, dc in next sc) across

Rs 4-10: Repeat alternating R2 & R3, ending with R2.

EDGING:

Working back across the last row, Ch1, turn.
Sc in ea sc, 2sc in ea ch2 sp. (19sc)
For corner, Ch2.

Working down the side.
Sc in side of same st.
Sc in top of next dc.
2sc around post of same dc.
*Sc in side of next sc.
Sc in top of next dc.
Sc around post of same dc.
Sc in side of next sc.
Sc in top of next dc.
2sc around post of same dc.
Rep from * once.
Sc in side of corner sc. (19sc)

For corner, Ch2.

Working along the foundation chain.
Sc in same corner st.
2sc in next ch2 sp.
*Sc in ch at base of next 5dc.
2sc in next ch2 sp.
Sc in base of next dc.
2sc in next ch2 sp.
Rep from * once.
Sc in ch at base of next 5dc.
2sc in next chsp.
Sc in corner sc.

Working down side, Sc in same corner st.
