CHAIN 1 SPACE (ch1-sp)
Patterns sometimes
refer to a chain space.. it can be chain 1 or any number/series of chains.
Ch-1 sp is the same as chain one space.
Ch2-sp is the same as chain two space.
etc.
Example: If a pattern says "sc in next ch-1 sp" then you do
a single crochet in the next chain one space (the next space where you
previously chained one). Work the stitch into the hole below the chain...
not directly into the chain itself.

If crocheting with bedspread weight cotton is difficult for you, try using two or three strands together with a larger hook. Though many crocheters only use steel hooks for thread... aluminum hooks work well also.

Hello I just wanted to let you know that
I am fairly new to crocheting. Your instructions have been fabulous and very simple to follow. Also the video is a perfect solution to me being a little nervous when starting a new project.
I thank you very much

Subject: Need help finding pattern
I saw your pattern for the patriotic sweater to fit a mini dachshund. Do you have any patterns to fit a standard dachshund? I have one mini and one standard. I am finding patterns to fit my mini, but finding one to fit a standard is next to impossible! Please help me! My big girl gets awfully cold in the winter!

Alteration instructions are toward the bottom of the page.
Our models in The Dog House are wearing unique versions of
our original sweater design. Each owner embellished in their
own way and all turned out great.
RE: Dishcloth
I noticed in the picture that there is a scalloped edge on all four sides, but the beginning calls for forty chains which makes a straight side. How do you get the scallops on the beginning chain row?
Toni
<< reply >>
The edges will automatically do scallop when you follow the pattern.

I notice this pattern only has instructions for infants.
Do you by chance have it for toddlers?

This isn't my pattern but you can make it larger by working additional increases like you do in rounds 3 and 4. Tips are listed on down the page of how to make the bow and ears larger also.

RE: How to Crochet - Join with a slip stitch to form a ring.
Comments:
so its only through front loop?
bobrulerofall
<< reply >>
When joining the first and last chains of a foundation chain to form a ring... you can join in either loop of that first chain. Keep in mind... if the pattern requires you to work into each individual chain you want to join to form the ring without twisting the foundation. If you work into the center of the ring for your pattern it does not matter if the foundation chain is twisted.

Love that the video is short, simple and clear!
It's annoying to have to watch a 15 minute video on how to do one stitch!
Thank you!

How do I dc2tog?
Charles DuBois
<< reply >>
dc2tog is the same as a Double Crochet Decrease
Here’s how:
Work a dc in the next stitch without completing the very last step
(leave the last two loops on the hook),
then dc in the next stitch without completing the last step.
You should have three loops on the hook then yarn over and
draw through all the loops.
Decrease made.
Here’s a video tutorial:
Kind
words can be short and easy to speak,
but their echoes are truly endless.

This book
is a wonderful addition to any crochet library.
I've had numerous requests over the years of what to crochet for
boys.
Crobots are definitely the answer!
This 96-page book is filled with numerous types of Crobot patterns
as well as well-illustrated instructions for the
crochet stitches, assembly stitches and other embellishments used
in the patterns.
The patterns are well written, some of the book is written in a
small font but the pictures are wonderful. NOTE:
This book comes to you with a safety warning regarding the small
parts used in the patterns.
Therefore, please use your own discretion as to the age of the child
you intend the gift for.

"Laughter is an instant vacation." - Milton Berle
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
It was Christmas day, and we had all gathered for the holiday meal at the home of my husband's parents. After dessert, my mother-in-law left the table and returned carrying a bowl filled with slips of paper.
Each adult was instructed to take one. Excited, we did
so, wondering what surprise she had thought up for us.
My slip of paper instructed me to dry the dishes; another
person was told to wash them. Others had to do pots and
pans, etc.
Then, with all the parents out of the way, grandma and
grandpa went into the living room and enjoyed their
grandchildren.
A woman frantically calls the fire department to report a
fire in the neighborhood.
The dispatcher asks, "Well, lady how do we get there?"
Confused she replies, "Don't you still have those big red
fire trucks?"
Like all growing boys, my teenage grandson was constantly
hungry. I went to the refrigerator to find something he
might like. After poking around a bit and moving the milk
and juice cartons, I spotted a bowl of leftover chili.
I called out to him excitedly. He came running into the
kitchen. "Look! I found some chili."
Struggling to be polite, he said, "If you're that surprised,
I'm not really sure I want it."
I recently got out the boxes of Christmas decorations and I
told the children (ages 10, 8 and 5) that they could start
setting them out. They were very excited and each got to pick
out favorite ornaments or figurines. Maria, the youngest,
wanted to set up the Nativity scene and happily set to her
task.
As she concentrated on carefully unwrapping Mary, Joseph and
the Baby Jesus, I overhead Maria singing this: "Angels We
Have Heard Online".....
I remember my dad was shopping in a toy store. He said,
"That's a terrific train set. I'll buy it."The Clerk said, "Great, I'm sure
your son will love it." Dad said, "Maybe you're right. I'll take two."
A new employee calls the Help Desk to complain that there's
something wrong with her password.
"The problem is that whenever I type the password, it just
shows stars," she says.
"Those asterisks are to protect you," the Help Desk technician
explains, "so if someone were standing behind you, they wouldn't
be able to read your password."
"Yeah," she says, "but they show up even when there is no one
standing behind me."
A man and his four-year-old son were watching a professional
football game on TV. After a bad play, the father exploded:
"Just look at that stupid halfback! He fumbles three times, and
every time the other team recovers! Why do they let someone
like that play in the game?"
The little boy thought it over. "Daddy," he said, "maybe it's
his ball."
Sandra was out driving her car and while stopped at a
red light, the car just died. It was a busy intersection,
and the traffic behind her starting growing.
The guy in the car directly behind her started honking his
horn continuously as Sandra tried desperately to get the
car to start up again. Finally she got out of her car and
approached the guy in the car behind her.
"I can't seem to get my car started," Sandra said, smiling.
"Would you be a sweetheart and go and see if you can get
it started for me? I'll stay here in your car and lean on
your horn for you."
The minister asked a group of children in a Sunday
School class, "Why do you love God?" He got a variety
of answers but the one he liked best was from a boy
who said, " I don't know, sir, I guess it just runs
in our family."
One October, my wife and I spent a vacation
on Washington's Olympic Peninsula. We were
eager to visit the rain forests near the
coast, but we heard that snow slides had made
some of the roads impassable.
Although apprehensive about the conditions we
might run into, we drove on. Sure enough, we
had gone only a short way up the High Rain
Forest road when we saw a sign: "Ice 10 miles."
Five miles farther on, there was another sign:
"Ice 5 miles." The next one was, "Ice 1/2 mile."
We practically crept that half-mile.
When we came to the last sign it was outside a small grocery, and it read, "Ice 75 cents."
The boss was very exasperated with his new
secretary. She ignored the telephone when
it rang.
"You must answer the telephone!" he told her irritably.
"All right," she replied, "but it seems so silly. Nine times out of ten, it's for you!"
A teacher was finishing up a lesson on the joys
of discovery and the importance of curiosity.
"Where would we be today," she asked, "if no one
had ever been curious?"
One child quietly spoke up from the back of the room.
"Still in the Garden of Eden?"
