OPPOSITE SIDE OF FOUNDATION CHAIN
Question
Step by step instructions on how to work in opposite side of foundation chain.
I am doing an pattern called autumn leaves fridges. I will by doing them in
Xmas colors and use as decorative pins. This pattern is shown in crochet pattern
central.com. How would you suggest I convert this to a Xmas pin for gifts .
thanking you in advance, Roberta Hanlon
Answer
Working in the opposite side of the foundation chain is easier than you may
think. All you do is work all the way around the chain instead of just down
one side like we usually do.
Think of a foundation chain... you work stitches down the chain like normal... to work in the opposite side of the foundation chain you work around the end of the chain and back up the other side of the chain... without turning which makes an oval shape.
To convert this into a pin... sew or glue a pin back to it. You could make two leaves and then stitch them together with a little stuffing between them, making one 3D leaf... then add the pin back.

RE: Heart Bookmark
I find no errors in your pattern. I’m just emailing you to tell you this is a fun pattern. I was on my lunch hour in our break room and decided to try the pattern and when I finished one go around, I looked at it and there was this beautiful little heart. I didn’t see it developing so it was very neat. The girls in the break room watching me laughed when my eyes lit up. I crochet all the time and they could not understand why I was so pleased.
I’ve only done three of the hearts so I don’t know how the finished product is going to turn out. If good, I will probably make several and give as Valentine gifts. Thanks for the pattern.

RE: Candy Cane Crochet Pattern
I just love your site!! Do you have any idea where I could find a crochet pattern of a candy cane similar to your icicle ornament? Thanks Vina H

Try this pattern:

it's larger but similar to my icicle ornament.
Hi. I've written in before about right side & wrong side and what the difference is. I appreciate you answering my silly question and I also wanted to say that your newsletter is one of the best crochet sites ever!! I like how you talk about God. More people should do that. Anyway, your directions are always so easy to understand. Thanks again!
Christina
Just wanted to say thanks for all the great reading material, links, information, and free patterns on your site. I was very enthused, being a long time crocheter, on all the new idea's your site and patterns invoked in me. All I keep saying is "Now why didn't I think of that!". Also, I am not of your faith, but I do believe in the Father, and so I am grateful for the Christian stories and the reminders. So here's hoping and praying that you can keep up this fine website in our times. Chris
Great site...wonderful
patterns...will be here often...ty

RE: Hanging Toilet Tissue Cover
Lisa, I love this pattern.
However, it works out better for me if for Row 34, I repeat Row 32 (rather
than Row 33).
Thanks for sharing. Bettye McKee

I have to tell you about this new book.
SweaterBabe.com's Fabulous & Flirty Crochet
I'm so happy to have it in my crochet library.
Katherine Lee has an eye for style and a definite knack for creating beautiful
crochet patterns.
I was really happy with the large colorful project photos.
There's something for everyone!
The aspect of Fabulous and Flirty Crochet that stood out to me was the section
on the yarns used in the patterns.
One page shows "actual size" photos of the yarns which makes it super
easy to substitute other yarns if you want to.
For those who stay strictly to the recommended yarn in a pattern Katherine has
included a yarn resource list.
The projects are very fashionable and perfect for gift giving... though I'm
sure you'll have to make something for yourself :o)
I can't wait to try the Flirty Skirt and the Ruffled Strap Tank.

Dave: I got this great new hearing aid the other day.

Mary: Wow! What kind is it?
Dave: Twelve-thirty.
The teacher asked one of her young students if he knew his numbers.
"Yes," he said. "I do. My father taught me."
"Good. What comes after three."
"Four," answers the boy.
"What comes after six?"
"Seven."
"Very good," says the teacher.
"Your dad did a good job. What comes after ten?"
"A jack," says the little boy.

The preparer asked, "Would you mind repeating that?"
The man replied, "Not if I can help it."
My friend's 5 year old granddaughter looked at the stars one night and exclaimed,
"God's home! All his lights are on!"
One evening, two girlfriends
and I went to a nightclub, only to find the place packed with young people.
At 40, we felt old, but before we could make a dignified exit, a tall, handsome
man approached us.
"Perhaps we were being a little hasty in leaving," I thought.
Then with a big smile, the man extended his hand to one of my friends and said,
"Hello. Remember me? You taught me in third grade."
A sister from a local convent became a Certified Public Accountant to help small shop owners manage their finances better.
Her title:
"Nun of Your Business."
As a young married couple, a husband and a wife lived in a cheap housing complex near the military base where he was working. Their chief complaint was that the walls were paper-thin and that they had no privacy. This was painfully obvious when one morning the husband was upstairs and the wife was downstairs on the telephone. She was interrupted by the doorbell and went to greet her neighbor.
"Give this to your husband,"
he said thrusting a roll of toilet paper into her hands.
"He's been yelling for it for 15 minutes!"
The children were lined
up in the cafeteria of a Catholic elementary >school for lunch.
At the head of the table was a large pile of apples.
The nun made a note, and posted on the apple tray:
"Take only ONE. God is watching."
Moving further along the
lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip
cookies.
A child had written a note,
"Take all you want."
" God is watching the apples. "
A teacher was giving a
lesson on the circulation of the blood.
Trying to make the matter clearer, she said,
"Now, class, if I stood on my head, the blood, as you know, would run into it,
and I would turn red in the face.."
"Yes," the class said.
"Then why is it that while I am standing upright in the ordinary position the blood doesn't run into my feet?"
A little fellow shouted, "Cause your feet ain't empty."
A Kindergarten teacher was
observing her classroom of children while they were drawing.
She would occasionally walk around to see each child's work.
As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the
drawing was.
The girl replied, "I'm drawing God."
The teacher paused and said, "But no one knows what God looks like."
Without missing a beat,
or looking up from her! drawing, the girl replied,
"They will in a minute."
The traffic cop stopped
the woman.
'Here's my driver's license and picture,' she said.
'You know something,' replied
the cop.
' This is one of the finest, most realistic pictures I've ever seen. I'm glad
to see you aren't one of those vain women who have the photos retouched to remove
all the lines in their face.'
Sir, she replied, 'you are looking at my thumb print.'
