<< WARNING >>
Exposure to the SON may prevent burning.
For what the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin. He condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
Romans 8:3-4
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, "My refuge and my fortress, My God in whom I trust!" For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper, and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings you may seek refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark. You will not be afraid of the terror by night, or of the arrow that flies by day; of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, or of the destruction that lays waste at noon. A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not approach you. You will only look on with your eyes, and see the recompense of the wicked. For you have made the Lord, my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place. No evil will befall you, nor will any plague come near your tent. For He will give His angels charge concerning you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, lest you strike your food against a stone. You will tread upon the lion and cobra. The young lion and the serpent you will trample down. "Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name. He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him, and honor him. With a long life I will satisfy him, and let him behold My salvation."
Psalm 91
Let your character be free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, " I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU," so that we confidently say, "THE LORD IS MY HELPER, I WILL NOT BE AFRAID. WHAT SHALL MAN DO TO ME?"
Hebrews 13:5-6

BROOMSTICK LACE
Question:
I am trying to find out how to do the broomstick lace.
I did it many years ago but have forgotten how to do it. My mother and my grandmother
showed me how but they have passed away and I have no way to find out how. I
have asked at craft stores and no one can tell me. They have heard of it however.
I awould appreciate any thing you can tell me. I really want to know how to
do it again.
Julie Wilson
Answer:
Broomstick Lace is done with a large knitting needle or broomstick. Broomstick lace can be altered to suite your taste. Instead of doing 4 loops per section you might want to do 5. Use your imagination. Just remember... if you pull off 4 loops (like in the square pattern) you must do 4 stitches into those loops. If you pull off 5 loops you must do 5 stitches into the loops, etc.

I found a doily called Swan Symphony, which was published in Great Britain. I wondered why mine was looking a bit different from the picture and realized the stitches are different from ours. Thanks to you and your stitch conversion chart I now know what is wrong. I took the doily apart and am starting over but it is a learning process. Now I have to remember to do a double instead of their triple, etc. I felt compelled to email you with my thanks and gratitude. I have crocheted for years, learning from a Coats and Clark book and even taught myself to knit from a book. I think it helps keep the mind sharp, now if I can only learn digitizing so I can use my sewing machine for embroidery I will be a happy person. Keep up the good work. Nancy
Thanks for such a wonderful newsletter----full of beautiful patterns and uplifting fellowship. Shalom, Connie

Hello, I just printed some patterns and I found that you are not saying how much yarn you need for each project. I can just about judge how much, but a beginner is not that apt. The patterns that I printed are patterns that I can truly use; patterns that I have not seen anywhere else. I am now into two hours of printing & loving it. I have a young lady that is trying to learn more, but not knowing how. With my help she has come a long way and will go further. She is now working on a baby blanket, she made a cap, and now wants to try booties. I printed several booties for her to try. I hope that I can find your site again & get more patterns, but remember to put in the amount of yarn that you need for each project. Thank you for your site. Zelda

You're very welcome Zelda. I'm glad you are enjoying the patterns and thanks so much for taking the time to teach someone else to crochet. About the yarn amounts... when I first started CNM I had no idea how to go about listing the number of ounces used in a pattern. As I'm sure you've noticed, most of my patterns use less than one skein. I am adding as much yarn information as possible to my newest designs. Thanks for caring!

I have a house full of chihuahuas and I can't wait to try out the doggie sweaters. You know that these dogs can freeze in 90 degree weather so they really need these sweaters. I didn't think I would find any sites that actually had the patterns for these so thank you.

I just wanted to express my sincere thanks to you and your site for making these stitches so understandable. Ive been knitting for years and just picked up crochetting, and could never find understandable or complete instructions for the more complicated stitches. Thanks so much Gia Veglia

Re: Thanks for your crochet abbreviation list
Hi, I just want to thank you for your crochet abbreviation list including a short description of the stiches! I have bought a nice pattern without considering that I had no clue what the english abbreviations mean. Years of crocheting experience did't help because I always used german patterns. Your list perfectly bridges this gap using the descriptions to assign the stiches to their german names :-) Thank you very much and best regards, Christine Beuck
I just found your site, and it looks very good. I will have to come back to it when I have more time to stay and check out everything. I love to crochet, but don't have much in my home to show for it, since most of the things I make I end up giving away!! I'll be visiting again soon. Until then, God bless.

Hello
I used to crochet a lot until I had a stroke that affected my whole left side
is there any type of equipment or some sort of apparatus for a crocheter who
only has the use of one hand.
Please advise.
Cassandra Redding
<< reply >>
There are actually two
different ways a person can do one handed crochet.
You can use your good hand to hold the hook and a device to hold your yarn
OR
use a device to hold your hook and your good hand to guide the yarn.
The item available on
the following page would hold your crochet hook for
you while you manipulate the yarn:
http://www.maddak.com/hpfeat/hparth/univ35.htm
The holder on this page
might help also:
http://www.maddak.com/hpfeat/hparth/croc65.htm
The Yarn Guide available
through Herrschers is good for holding yarn tension
without having to grip the yarn very much:
http://herrschners.com/products/product.aspx?sku=010376&q=WW010376&tab=
You may be able to place the yarn guide on one of the fingers of the bad/injured
hand and then hold your hook with your good hand.
They also have another
item available called "Cro-Knit"
The description says: "The Cro-Knit slips easily onto your finger to
make
your stitches more uniform and the yarn easier for you to handle.
Adjustable device works equally well with 2,3 or 4-ply yarn. Plastic
tension ring holds the yarn securely in place."

The strong young man at the construction site was bragging that he could outdo anyone in a feat of strength. He made a special case of making fun of one of the older workmen.
After several minutes, the
older worker had had enough.
"Why don't you put your money where your mouth is?" he said.
"I will bet a week's wages that I can haul something in a wheelbarrow over to
that building that you won't be able to wheel back."
"You're on, old man," the
young guy replied.
The old man reached out and grabbed the wheelbarrow by the handles.
Then he turned to the young man and said,
"All right. Get in."
Each evening birdlover Tom stood in his backyard, hooting like an owl - and one night, an owl called back to him. For a year, the man and his feathered friend hooted back and forth. He even kept a log of the "conversation."
Just as he thought he was on the verge of a breakthrough in interspecies communication, his wife had a chat with her next door neighbor.
"My husband spends his nights ... calling out to owls," she said.
"That's odd," the neighbor replied. "So does my husband." Then it dawned on them.
Little Johnny's new baby brother was screaming up a storm.
He asked his mom, "Where'd we get him?"
His mother replied, "He came from heaven, Johnny."
Johnny says, "WOW! I can see why they threw him out!"
When Little Johnny's family moved into their new house, a visiting relative asked him how he liked the new place.
"It's terrific," he said. "I have my own room, Billy has his own room, and Jenny has her own room. But poor Mom is still in with Dad."
It was the little girl's
first day at school and the teacher was making out her registration card.
"What is your father's name?"
"Daddy," replied the child.
"Yes I know, but what does your mother call him?"
"Oh, she doesn't call him anything. She likes him!"

The husband had just finished
reading the book, 'Man of The House'.
He stormed into the kitchen and walked directly up to his wife.
Pointing a finger in her face, he said, "From now on, I want you to know that
I am the man of this house, and my word is law!! I want you to prepare me a
gourmet meal tonight, and when I'm finished eating my meal, I want a scrumptious
dessert afterward. Then, after dinner, you are going to draw me a bath so I
can relax, and when I'm finished with my bath, guess who's going to dress me
and comb my hair?"
His wife dryly replied, " The funeral director would be my guess!"
King Ozymndias of Assyria was running low on cash after years of war with the Hittites. His last great possession was the Star of the Euphrates, the most valuable diamond in the ancient world.
Desperate, he went to Crosus,
the pawnbroker, to get a loan.
Crosus said, "I'll give you 100,000 dinars for it."
"But I paid a million dinars
for it," the King protested. Don't you know who I am?
I am the king!"
Crosus replied, "When you wish to pawn a Star, makes no difference who you are."

A couple decides to go for a meal at a Chinese restaurant and they order the "Chicken Surprise".
The waiter brings the meal, served in a lidded cast iron pot. Just as the wife is about to serve herself, the lid of the pot rises slightly and she briefly sees two beady little eyes looking around before the lid slams back down.
"Good grief, did you see that?" she asks her husband.
He hasn't, so she asks him to look in the pot. He reaches for it and again the lid rises and he sees two little eyes looking around before it slams down.
Rather perturbed, he calls the waiter over, explains what is happening, and demands an explanation.
"Please sir," says the waiter, "what you order?"
The husband replies, "Chicken Surprise."
Ah... so sorry," says the waiter, "I bring you Peeking Duck"
