Now this I say, he who sows sparingly shall also reap sparingly; and he who sows bountifully shall also reap bountifully. Let each one do just as he has purposed in his heart; not grudgingly or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed; as it is written, "HE SCATTERED ABROAD, HE GAVE TO THE POOR, HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS ABIDES FOREVER."
2 Corinthians 9:6-9
Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh shall from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit shall from the Spirit reap eternal life. And let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we shall reap if we do not grow weary. So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all men, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.
Galatians 6:7-10
And now, little children, abide in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not shrink away from Him in shame at His coming.
1 John 2:28
Do not marvel, brethren, if the world hates you. We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love abides in death. Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer; and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has the world's goods, and beholds his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him? Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth. We shall know by this that we are of the truth, and shall assure our heart before Him, in whatever our heart condemns us; for God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God; and whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His sight. And this is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us. And the one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And we know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.

RICE STITCH
QUESTION
I have an antique baby
bonnet made from very fine thread in a rice stitch pattern and an apparently
tiny hook. Any info on this stitch? Any pictures of antique items using this
stitch?
Mrs. Puckey
ANSWER
I've seen a couple of different intstructions for a "rice stitch".
One version was sent in by a viewer and I included it in the April 15, 2004
newsletter.
http://www.crochetnmore.com/041504.htm
Rice Stitch
Submitted by Ronnett
[dc, ch 3, dc in last dc made]
work one double crochet
now chain 3 and work another double in the first double crochet
which would be at the base of the chain 3.
This should make a little picot or bumpy looking stitch that resembles a piece
of rice).
All other information I've found refers to the "rice stitch" as being the same
as the "roll stitch" and the "bullion stitch". I included the following information
in the May 15, 2001 issue:
http://www.crochetnmore.com/051501.htm
BULLION STITCH - a/k/a Roll Stitch, a/k/a Rice Stitch
(Stitch recommended by Eileen B. of Port St. Lucie, FL)
http://crochet.about.com/hobbies/crochet/library/blbullion.htm
According to The Needlecraft Shop's booklet called "ABC's of Crochet" the bullion stitches are as follows:
Bullion Stitch
Yo 5 times, insert hk in next st, yo, draw lp through st and all 6 lps on hk.
Ch 1.
Variation Bullion Stitch
Yo 5 times, insert hk in next st, yo,
draw lp through st, yo and all 7 lps on hk. Ch 1.

Now, the information on this page:

Having everything you need
for a "travel" crochet project can be quite a challenge.
Keep track of everything
you need by keeping it in a clear pencil case or any zippered clear vinyl pouch
(I've used the type that curtains come in). When you grab your project... take
the bag with you and you're set.
Some items to include are:
* Scissors
* Yarn Needle
* Hooks
* Tape Measure / Ruler
* Stitch Markers
* Cable Needles
* Notepad
* Pen/Pencil
* Snack Size Ziplock (to put all those yarn scraps/pieces in)

Just a note to thank you for your website and your newsletter. After receiving your Aug. 15 newsletter, I was surprised that you put in the negative email you received regarding your patterns. As the owner of the site, you have the option of only putting in the good stuff, so I was surprised to see a negative one. What saddens me is that you even received one. I, for one, really love your site and really enjoy receiving your newsletter. I think your designs are great, and I have used a few as gifts for family members and have always received such compliments. Mostly I just wanted to tell you that I so appreciate the fact that you even offer your patterns for free. That is so generous of you. I appreciate also the fact that you are not to show your faith. Because of this, your site is always the first site I go to if I'm looking for a particular pattern. Thank you for all that you do. I just wanted you to know you are appreciated.

Hi Tanya:
Thank you so much for signing my Guestbook. Yes, I have the option to only include the good emails/comments but the fact remains that I do receive a negative message once in a while. I'm so glad to know that your family members appreciate the items you've made using my patterns. It's also nice to know that there are people who appreciate the fact that I offer the patterns for free. Thanks again for taking the time to sign my guestbook. Please feel free to visit Crochet N More often and/or write anytime. Lisa
I am just looking for a place to feel like I belong to a crochet community and I found your site. It seems like a good place to come and just relax and have fun and look around for a while.

Lisa: I have subscribed to your site for years and thoroughly enjoy and appreciate it. I am irritated with the nasty person that sent the Free Pattern response shown below. Please DO NOT let her discourage you in any way. I would very much like to explain in language she would definitely understand ... how to unsubscribe to the newsletter. I feel like a good friend has had her toes tromped on and I want to come to your defense! Keep up the GOOD work you always do. Debby
RE: Free Patterns Have ya lost your d*** mind? I have been checking in on your "original" patterns for nearly 2 years, and I have to say, even a beginner could create the simple, ugly stuff that you offer on your free pattern page from their own imagination. C'mon. Give us something that's worth looking at. All you're doing is taking up space that could be used by a REAL crocheter. I myself have been crocheting for only 3 years, and even I can design items that challenge the best designers in New York or Paris. Gimme a break. Camzgirl

Thanks Debby. It's nice to know I have good friends in our little cyberworld. Like many I feel discouraged from time to time but God always sends me someone to uplift me (like you).
I love your site.
I would like to do some of the Christmas and Religious patterns but am having
problems getting them to print.

Hi, What a great site and Christian at that! I have just picked up the crochet hook after a long lay off, I have a new grandbaby to be born in a week or two, so it has inspired me to crochet again. I am rusty, but have received help from your site. God Bless you as you witness for Him. Linda

I have to tell you about this new book.
SweaterBabe.com's Fabulous & Flirty Crochet
I'm so happy to have it in my crochet library.
Katherine Lee has an eye for style and a definite knack for creating beautiful
crochet patterns.
I was really happy with the large colorful project photos.
There's something for everyone!
The aspect of Fabulous and Flirty Crochet that stood out to me was the section
on the yarns used in the patterns.
One page shows "actual size" photos of the yarns which makes it super
easy to substitute other yarns if you want to.
For those who stay strictly to the recommended yarn in a pattern Katherine has
included a yarn resource list.
The projects are very fashionable and perfect for gift giving... though I'm
sure you'll have to make something for yourself :o)
I can't wait to try the Flirty Skirt and the Ruffled Strap Tank.

A friend and his wife were considering traveling to Alaska for a trip that the husband had long dreamed of taking. He kept talking about how great it would be to stay in a log cabin without electricity, to hunt moose, and drive a dog team instead of a car.
"If we decided to live there permanently, away from civilization, what would you miss the most?" he asked his wife.
She replied, "You."
"I married Miss Right - I just didn't know her first name was Always."
A mother wanted to teach her daughter a moral lesson. She gave the little girl a quarter and a dollar for church.
"Put whichever one you want in the collection plate and keep the other for yourself," she told the girl.
Sunday, when they were coming out of the church, the mother asked her daughter which amount she had given.
"Well," said the little
girl,
"I was going to give the dollar, but just before the collection the preacher
said that God loves a cheerful giver. I knew I'd be a lot more cheerful if I
gave the quarter, so I did."
In the oldies song, "Walk Like a Man," why do all the men sing like girls?
There are two rules for ultimate success in life.
1. Never tell everything you know.
"Everybody wants to save the earth; few want to help Mom do the dishes."
While the family was sitting around the dinner table, Jennifer, 5, turned to her brother Andy, 3, and pointed to her dad.
"That's not your real father," she said, startling the whole family.
"Yes, he is!" Andy replied.
"No, he's not," Jennifer
insisted. "God is your heavenly father."
Then pointing at her dad, she said, "That's your homely father!"
While a friend and I were visiting Annapolis, we noticed several students on their hands and knees assessing the courtyard with pencils and clipboards in hand.
"What are they doing?" I asked our tour guide.
"Each year," he replied with a grin, "The upperclassmen ask the freshmen how many bricks it took to finish paving this courtyard."
"So what's the answer?" my friend asked him when we were out of earshot of the freshmen.
The guide replied, "One."
My niece, pregnant with her second child, was certain she wanted an epidural for pain management during childbirth. Her doctor asked her at which stage of labor she wanted the epidural administered.
Her response: "Just meet me in the parking lot when I arrive!"
"How come you never see Cupid with a girlfriend?"
A well respected surgeon
was relaxing on his sofa one evening just after arriving home from work.
As he was tuning into the evening news, the phone rang. The doctor calmly answered
it and heard the familiar voice of a colleague on the other end of the line.
"We need a fourth for poker," said the friend.
"I'll be right over," whispered the doctor.
As he was putting on his
coat, his wife asked,
"Is it serious?"
"Oh yes, quite serious,"
said the doctor gravely.
"In fact, three doctors are there already!"
During a sermon one Sunday,
the pastor heard two teenage girls in the back giggling and disturbing people.
He interrupted his sermon and announced sternly,
"There are two of you here who have not heard a word I've said."
That quieted them down.
When the service was over, he went to greet people at the front door. Three
different adults apologized for going to sleep in church, promising it would
never happen again.
