When you want to crochet for long periods of time be sure to take breaks.
Get up, walk around and rest your hands for a few minutes.
If your hands tend to ache when you crochet for a while:
* try hand stretches
* use ergonomic hooks,
and/or
* wear stress relief gloves.
If you do not have an ergonomic hook you can add a pencil gripper to your favorite hook to make the handle thicker.

Re: need measurements of preemie bib ( found pattern on web)
I came across the crochet pattern for the preemie baby bib. I plan to make it for my granddaughter's doll, but would like to know the size the pattern makes. Would you be able to let me know the measurements of the bib? Thank you, Peggy
<< Reply >>
I believe the preemie bib on this page:
http://www.crochetnmore.com/preemiebabybib.htm
would be perfect for a baby doll.
This is one of my earlier patterns for which I failed to
obtain the measurements.

Crochet Tip
If your crochet hook isn’t gliding through your stitches - rub the hook through your hair.
<< Comments >>
I do that and also with safety pins, straight pins or sewing needles. Works great!

Subject: crocheted cowboy boots & hat
I've been looking for a pattern to make infant cowboy boots & cowboy hat.
It would be nice to see a 'box' to type in 'what' you're looking for to save time
searching through everything. I didn't see any 'cowboy' items I'm looking for.
Maybe some of your other readers have some they can share. Thanks.

Thank you Lisa!! God bless Emmy
RE: Dishcloth
I just wanted to thank you for sharing this pattern. It is exactly what I have been looking for. I love the fact that you use double crochet and not all single crochet. Single crochet, for me at least, can be quite boring. It's both pretty AND practical.

This book
is a wonderful addition to any crochet library.
I've had numerous requests over the years of what to crochet for
boys.
Crobots are definitely the answer!
This 96-page book is filled with numerous types of Crobot patterns
as well as well-illustrated instructions for the
crochet stitches, assembly stitches and other embellishments used
in the patterns.
The patterns are well written, some of the book is written in a
small font but the pictures are wonderful. NOTE:
This book comes to you with a safety warning regarding the small
parts used in the patterns.
Therefore, please use your own discretion as to the age of the child
you intend the gift for.

"Laughter is an instant vacation." - Milton Berle
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Humor provides us with a valuable tool for
maintaining an inner strength in the midst
of outer turmoil. - Brian Deery
A hiker stopped at the bank of a fast-flowing river. Spying a simple fellow standing on the opposite bank, he yelled to
him, "How do I get to the other side?"
The simpleton scratched his head. He looked up the river. He
looked down the river. Then he yelled back to the hiker,
"You're already ON the other side!
A Sunday School teacher was trying to explain about
saying grace before meals. One of the pupils was the
young son of the minister of that church, so she started
the discussion by asking him, "Jerry, what does your
father say when the family sits down to dinner?"
Jerry answered, "Dad says, 'Go easy on the butter,
kids, it's three dollars a pound!'"
An elderly woman in our church congregation had an
older-model car that was in excellent condition. As
she was driving to town one afternoon, her car was
struck by another auto. The insurance company told
her that, after considering the car's age, they would
give her a settlement on the damage.
When the cheque arrived, she was unhappy with the
low amount and went to see her insurance agent.
Pulling open his desk drawer, he said, "I have a little
blue book in here that says that's all your car is worth."
"Well," she replied, "I have a little black book at home
that says, 'Thou shalt not steal.'"
She got a higher settlement.
A wife returning from a fishing trip with her husband was telling her troubles to a neighbor. "I did everything all wrong again today," she said.
"I talked too loud, I used the wrong bait, I reeled in too soon, and I caught more fish than he did."
Over the years, my husband and I have usually managed to decode the cute but confusing gender signs sometimes put
on restaurants' restroom doors (Buoys and Gulls, Laddies
and Lassies, etc.), but every so often we get stumped.
Recently my husband Dave wandered off in search of the
men's room and found himself confronted by two marked
doors. One was labeled "Bronco," and the other was
designated "Cactus." Completely baffled, he stopped a
restaurant employee passing by. "Excuse me; I need to
use the restroom," Dave said. Gesturing toward the
doors, he asked, "Which one should I use?"
"Actually, we would prefer you to go there," the
employee said, pointing to a door down the hall marked "Men."
"Bronco and Cactus are private dining rooms."
It seemed that all our appliances had broken in the same week and repairs were straining our budget. So when I picked up the kids from school and our Jeep started making rattling sounds, I decided that rather than burden my husband, I'd deal with it. I hadn't reckoned on my little tattletales, however.
They rushed into the house with the news: "Daddy, the Jeep was breaking down, but Mom made the noise stop!"
Impressed, my husband asked, "How did you fix it?"
"I turned up the volume on the radio," I confessed.
I feel it is my duty to warn everyone of a major problem, one that endangers lives, damages property and causes untold misery, a growing menace that can be summed up in three words: men doing laundry.
At first glance, MDL may not seem like a big problem,
especially to members of the female species, who generally
prefer MDL to WDL. But the evidence is overwhelming.
MDL has resulted in millions of discolored clothes, billions
of missing socks, and countless broken relationships.
Wife: "Did you remember to separate the clothes before washing them?"
Husband: "Yes, of course I did. I put the whites at the
bottom and the colors on top."
As a recuit nearing completion of basic training at Fort Knox, I was looking forward to my leave home. After 13 weeks of
sleeping on the ground, eating Army food and being tormented
by drill sergeants, all I could think of was clean sheets, Mom's
cooking and some relaxation.
Arriving in Boston the day after graduation, I was greeted by my joyous family. "Just wait until you hear about the camping
trip we've planned!" exclaimed my mother.
Little Dewey was one of those holy terrors.
His dad was surprised when Dewey's mom suggested that they buy him a bike for his birthday.
"Do you really believe that'll help improve his behavior?" he asked.
"Well, no," she admitted, "But it'll spread it over a wider area."
A middle-aged man was waiting for the bus. While he waited, he watched a young boy eat five candy bars, one right after
the other. He said to the boy, "Eating all that candy is bad for your health and can rot your teeth."
The boy replied, "Mister, my grandfather lived to be 97 years old!"
The man said, "I'll bet he didn't eat five candy bars in a row."
The boy answered, "No, but he sure knew how to mind his own business!"
This young man was elated when he turned eighteen in a state where curfew is 11:00 p.m. for anyone under seventeen years of age.
He told his Dad how happy he was that now he could stay out until 3:00 a.m. if he wanted.
"Yes you can stay out as late as you want, but the car is under seventeen and it has to be in the garage by eleven."
His father said.
"Daddy, where did I come from?", seven-year-old Rachel asked.
It was a moment for which her parents had carefully prepared. They took her into the living room, got out several other books, and explained all they thought she should know about sexual attraction, affection, love, and reproduction. Then they both sat back and smiled contentedly.
"Does that answer your question?" the mom asked.
"Not really," the little girl said. "Judy said she came from Detroit. I want to know where I came from."
