YARN BUTTERFLY
Using Yarn Butterflies or Yarn Bobbins helps to tame a project that contains multiple colors.
Yarn butterflies are great when you do not have any yarn bobbins.
Hold the yarn tail in between two fingers, letting the end rest along the back side of your hand.
Wind the yarn in a figure eight between your thumb and pinky finger until you have as much as you think you will need.
Clip the yarn leaving a 4-5 inch tail. Wrap that yarn tail around the center of the figure eights a few times, then loop the yarn tail back through the wraps. Pull to secure it. The yarn tail you began with (the one you left resting along the back side of your hand) is the working end. Pull on that end to release more yarn as you need it.

When a crochet pattern calls for numerous color changes the best way to keep your strands tangle free is to use yarn butterflies or yarn bobbins. Work on the project at a table where you can lay out all of the yarn butterflies/bobbins and reposition them easily. Keeping the yarn arranged on the table instead of letting each color dangle off of the project will reduce tangling and speed up your finishing time.

Re: Table_Runner
Hello,
I was just wondering about the table runner on Pinterest, with the fall colors. Was that red heart and what color is that. I love it. And would like to make it for my table.
I hope to hear from you.
Thank you,
Lori M

I hadn't seen the table runner in the fall colors... but upon searching
Pinterest I located the photo here:
https://www.pinterest.com/pin/37647346861509731/
I loved the colors used... however, I did not make that particular one.
I did use Red Heart Super Saver for the pattern when I designed it. Any
worsted weight yarn would work fine for this pattern. Here's a link to the
pattern page:

Enjoy!

I believe the person who made that runner used Red Heart Variegated "Fall"
yarn:
That yarn is listed on this page.

This page shows that yarn used in a hat and scarf set:

Re: Crochet Tip: Use Nail Clippers instead of scissors to cut your yarn, especially if you have a small child around. You can thread a piece of yarn through the hole in the clippers and hang them around your neck. I keep a pair in my crochet hook case for times I can't seem to locate my scissors :o)

I have done this for years...more out of not being able to find scissors than anything...lol

ABC Afghan - Thank you!
Thanks so much for your tips when making the ABC afghan. I just made this for my nephew’s first child due in the next couple months. I was so glad I followed your suggestion of working the border as I go. After doing all those puff’s I was glad that when the blanket was done, I didn’t have to go around and do the border.
I did change the puffs a little on the B, P, and R a little - to make them more rounded. I missed doing this on the S. Oh well. And the I is not graphed out correctly on the diagram. Luckily I saw that right away and made the correction on that as well.
Attached is a photo (though not the best) of my afghan. I love it. Sure hope they love it as well.
Thanks again.

I
I have a question on the No Sew Towel Topper.
Who would I talk to?

What is your question?

I have the handle done and am starting the topper. I am confused on R1. It says to work sc in bl of ea sc...ch 3...working up the other side, sc in unworked loop of ea sc ...ch 3...join with sl in beg sc. So do I turn and work down the long side...do ...See More

Work a single crochet in the back loop only of each stitch... then make 3 chains... then turn the piece around so the unworked loops are facing you and work a single crochet in each of the unworked loops (so you will have one single crochet opposite each of the single crochets you did at first). Make 3 more chains and join.

Here is the pattern's url (http://www.favecrafts.com/Crochet-Afghans/easy-crochet-diamonds-throw-from-red-heart-yarn). I am working on Row 2 and its not ending correctly (my assumption from the directions is for it to end doing 9 dc, ch 1 dc in third chain of turning chain, I made the 9 dcs but have 6 stitches before the chain 4 from the previous row). I have gone back and looked and counted etc. I can not figure out what I am doing wrong. I am a beginner and that's the excuse I am using LOL. If you could help it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Linda Jones

First, be sure for Row 1 you have 74 chain spaces.
For Row 2:
Chain 4 (this will count as one double crochet plus one chain)
skip the first chain 1 space
double crochet in the next 9 stitches
*
chain 1
skip the next stitch
**
double crochet in the next 15 stitches
now back up to the single asterisk (*)
and repeat across the row ending at the double asterisk (**)
Now double crochet in the next 9 stitches
chain 1
double crochet in the third chain of the beginning chain 4.
----------------
Row 2 is correct.
I made the first two rows... after the repeats across the row of 15 stitches each you will end up with 6 double crochets and 5 chains spaces. (remember the end of the last repeat was chain 1 and skip a stitch... which is the chain space just prior to the last 6 doubles) Working one double crochet in the next 9 stitches will put you at the end with one chain space and one double crochet left. Chain 1 and work a double crochet in the third chain of the beginning chain 4 (which counted as one double crochet)
Re: Stitch_Question
I'm doing a grit stitch granny square blanket and I wanna add letters into certain squares but can't find letter patterns anywhere. The squares are chain 25 & 21 rows up. If you could possibly help me I need B o n e A W e b for now. I just need to know the pattern on where to put the stitches for each letter please, I would greatly appreciate it.

There are several ways to add letters to a crochet project.
1. Use graph paper to chart each letter and incorporate them into your project as you go... or use an existing chart and adapt it to your pattern:
http://www.craftsy.com/pattern/crocheting/other/filet-crochet-block-alphabet-chart/19865
2. Use surface crochet to free hand the lettering on an existing project:
3: Crochet the letters you need and then applique them onto the project:
www.mooglyblog.com/the-moogly-crochet-alphabet/
4: Cross stitch a graphed letter onto your project.:

Hope this helps.

Re: How to Crochet - How to Find the Center Strand of Yarn in a Skein and How to Untangle Yarn
<< Comments >>
Thank for making this video. I do have a question, when I found the center strand for a red heart super saver skein the strand was krinkly that when I was working with it, it was raveling! Have you ever ha to deal with something like this? What are your suggestions to dealing with this.

You're welcome. Sometimes you get a skein of yarn that has flaws... not normal for Red Heart but it can happen. Try to pull some of the yarn out... if it's not a large portion of the skein you can cut off the bad section.

Cannot hear also. Music is loud and can't hear any voice. Would it be possible to get a printed copy of pattern? Anyone know how to turn off the annoying music. I have checked in settings but nothing there.

I do not have music in my videos so I'm not sure where your music is coming from.
I have heard from others regarding sound issues.
I can hear the video and other than turning up the volume on your computer I'm not sure how to remedy this.

This book
is a wonderful addition to any crochet library.
I've had numerous requests over the years of what to crochet for
boys.
Crobots are definitely the answer!
This 96-page book is filled with numerous types of Crobot patterns
as well as well-illustrated instructions for the
crochet stitches, assembly stitches and other embellishments used
in the patterns.
The patterns are well written, some of the book is written in a
small font but the pictures are wonderful. NOTE:
This book comes to you with a safety warning regarding the small
parts used in the patterns.
Therefore, please use your own discretion as to the age of the child
you intend the gift for.

WIFE: "There is trouble with the car. It has water in the carburetor."
HUSBAND: "Water in the carburetor? That's ridiculous "
WIFE: "I tell you the car has water in the carburetor."
HUSBAND: "You don't even know what a carburetor is. I'll check it out. Where's the car?
WIFE: "In the pool"
After living in our house for four years, we were moving
out of state. My husband had backed the truck up to our
garage door so that we could start loading all of the
boxes. Just then one of our neighbors came walking across
the lawn carrying a plate full of muffins.
"Isn't that thoughtful," my husband said to me. "They must
have realized that we packed our kitchen stuff."
The neighbor stuck out his hand and boomed, "Welcome to the
neighborhood!"
Several women, each trying to one-up the other, appeared in court, each accusing the others of causing the trouble they were having in the apartment building where they lived.
The judge, with Solomon-like wisdom decreed, "Okay, I'm ready to hear the evidence...I'll hear the oldest first."
The case was dismissed for lack of testimony.
My grandson, Justus, age 10, and his sister Taylor,
age 13, were always teasing each other.
One day, Justus was getting "sensitive" about things
his sister was saying to him.
I reminded him that he had said the same types of
things many times in days past.
With quiet reflection, he spoke a gospel truth.
"But it doesn't hurt as much coming out of my
mouth as it does going into my ears."
My little girl loves animals, but one day she was bitten by
a small field mouse she'd found. She carried it home in her
pocket and told me what happened.
Worried about rabies, I called our town Humane Society and
was told that the animal would have to be examined, and
they'd send someone for it.
When the Humane Society truck pulled up, a big man got out,
put on a pair of gauntlets, and took a capture stick and
cage from the back of the truck.
Trying not to laugh, I handed him a shoe box containing the
mouse.
"Lady," he said, seeing my expression, "they only told me it
was a wild animal."
My husband bought an exercise machine to help him
shed a few pounds. He set it up in the basement but
didn’t use it much, so he moved it to the bedroom.
It gathered dust there, too, so he put it in the
living room.
Weeks later I asked how it was going.
"I was right," he said. "I do get more exercise now.
Every time I close the drapes, I have to walk around
the machine."
A sales clerk asked his boss how to handle people who complained about the current prices compared to the low prices in the good old days.
"Just act surprised and tell them you didn't think that they were old enough to remember them."
A visitor at a fishing dock asked an old fisherman
who was sitting there, "If I were to fall into this
water, would I drown?" It was a strange way of asking
how deep the water was, but the fisherman had a good
answer.
"No. Falling into the water doesn't drown anybody. It's
staying under it that does."
A customer bought a large hammock at our store and
seemed very pleased as he carried the package out
the door.
To our surprise, the next day he was back with his
purchase.
"What happened?" we asked.
He replied, "I realized that I had only one tree."
Another day after school Grandpa asked Michael what he did
in school.
Michael said that he played.
Grandpa asked him if that was the only thing he did all day.
Michael said, "No, we did something else and it was really
important, but I don't remember what it was!"
After years of scrimping and saving, a husband told his
wife the good news:
"Honey, we've finally saved enough money to buy what we
started saving for way
back in 2000."
"You mean a brand-new Mercedes?" she asked eagerly.
"No," he replies, "a 2000 Mercedes."
The door of the science office at my high school opens
outward, and a number of students have been whacked by
it.
To prevent any more mishaps, one of the teachers stuck
a warning on the door advising people not to stand too
close. There was also a comic strip attached showing a
student being hit by a door being opened.
One day I was pushing a cart into the hall and opened
the door extra wide.
To my horror the door struck a student standing outside.
After determining that he was all right, I asked why he
was behind the door even though the warning was there.
"I was reading it," he replied.
