WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

"But when He heard this, He said, 'It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick. But go and learn what this means, I DESIRE COMPASSION, AND NOT SACRIFICE, for I did not come to tall the righteous but sinners."

Matthew 9:12-13

"BRETHREN, my heart's desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation. For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge. For not knowing about God's righteousness, and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. For Moses writes that the man who practices the righteousness which is based on law shall live by that righteousness. But the righteousness based on faith speaks thus, "DO NOT SAY IN YOUR HEART, WHO WILL ASCEND INTO HEAVEN?" (that is, to bring Christ down), or 'WHO WILL DESCEND INTO THE ABYSS?' (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead)." But what does it say? "THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART" -- that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. For the Scripture says, "WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED." For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call upon Him; for "WHOEVER WILL CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED." How then shall they call upon Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, "HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO BRING GLAD TIDINGS OF GOOD THINGS!"

Romans 10:1-15

"I thank my God always concerning you, for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus, that in everything you were enriched in Him, in all speech and all knowledge, even as the testimony concerning Christ was confirmed in you, so that you are not lacking in any gift, awaiting eagerly the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, who shall also confirm you to the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord."

1 Corinthians 1:4-9

"Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, "Lord, what then has happened that You are going to disclose Yourself to us, and not to the world?" Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My father will love him, and We will come to him, and make Our abode with him. He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father's who sent Me. These things I have spoken to you, while abiding with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. You heard that I said to you, I go away, and I will come to you. If you loved Me, you would have rejoiced, because I go to the Father; for the Father is greater than I. And now I have told you before it comes to pass, that when it comes to pass, you may believe. I will not speak much more with you, for the ruler of the world is coming, and he has nothing in Me; but that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave Me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go from here."

John 14:22-31

"THERE'S NO BETTER NEWS THAN THE GOSPEL -- SPREAD THE WORD!"

This quote is from Our Daily Bread - November, 2002 Issue.

==========================

The following was sent to me by Joyce Haun

Subject: Why go to church...

A Church goer wrote a letter to the editor of the newspaper and
complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday. "I've
gone for 30 years now," he wrote, "and in that time I have heard
something like 3,000 sermons. But for the life of me, I can't remember a
single one of them. So I think I'm wasting my time and the pastors are
wasting theirs by giving sermons at all."

This started a real controversy in the "Letters to the Editor" column,
much to the delight of the editor. It went on for weeks until someone
wrote this clincher: I've been married for 30 years now. In that time
my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But for the life of me, I cannot
recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know
this: They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my
work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I'd would be physically
dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I
would be spiritually dead today!"

When you are DOWN to nothing.... God is Up to something! Faith sees the
invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible! Thank God
for our physical AND our spiritual nourishment! All right,... now that
you're done reading... send it on!!! I think everyone should read this!!
REMEMBER; FAITH MAKES THINGS POSSIBLE, NOT EASY!!!!!
The best vitamin for making friends- B1

RE: Prayer for Australia (written 10/28)

We are covered in a blanket of bushfire smoke today and the other day we were covered in a haze of a dust storm
that travelled for miles from another state - actually the dust haze travelled the full length of our country - oh if only our country would repent for allowing Australia to become a non - Christian country and pray for rain - our politians are so politically correct and they cater more to the non Christians than they do to us - that is why so many people came to settle
here because we were a Christian country but not any more.
much love and blessings
Melinda

---- I would like to ask that everyone pray for the people in Australia. Please ask God to help the Christians prevail over those who tend to be "politically correct" and not give the glory to God. Pray that the unbelievers will realize they need God to survive. And especially pray that the children in Australia learn to live for God and not man. Thanks, Lisa.

Dear Lisa,

Hey, my name is Brittany and I am 15 years old. I know how to crochet and today I was surfing the internet for some free paterns when I came upon your website. I am a very strong believer in the Lord, so when I saw a crocheting site that had bible verses and stuff on it, I was dumbfounded. I think that is beyond awesome and I greatly admire you for doing that. I read the "About us" section on your website and I think that is super cool that you followed your dream of creating that crocheting site. I will pray for you that everything you are working on now goes right, and if it doesn't that God will give you strength to fight through it.

I just wanted to write you a little note about how much I enjoy your website!

Love your friend in Christ, Brittany <><

Re: Sweater

Hi there. I just surfed across your Dog Sweater Pattern page at
http://www.crochetnmore.com/dogsweater.htm
and wanted to let you know that your pattern must be making the rounds
because someone gave me one of these, finished, for my Chihuahuas, and I
figured it out just looking at it and started making them by the dozens for
a fundraiser. I'm a foster volunteer for Chihuahua Rescue & Transport
(CRT). In just a month, I've made over $200 for CRT. I donate the
materials, and make them cheap enough that they're selling like hotcakes! I
love the pattern (although I don't know how to read pattern notation, just
work from sight) and wanted you to know that in a roundabout way you're
helping raise money for homeless Chis :)

Hi Lisa,
Thank You so much for telling the story of Preemie Andrew on your baby patterns page website .
I crochet a lot- mostly for charity, and sometimes I get a little discouraged and overwhelmed, wondering if the money I spend on yarn and the hours I spend making projects are really even appreciated.
Then I read the story about Preemie Andrew and I was instantly inspired. The photos and updates were just what I needed to boost my enthusiasm and inspire me to continue making donations. Thanks Again for your easy to read patterns and your wonderful website!
Sincerely, Sandy

Hello!

I just crocheted three dog sweaters for my Shih Tzus and I wanted to let you know I love this pattern! I especially appreciate the instructions on how to customize the size depending on each dog's measurements.
I'll keep using this pattern forever.
Thanks again,

RE: Checkers

Hi....I didn't find any errors--just wanted to thank you for offering
this pattern. I just started and have only made a couple checkers and
one square's worth in the checkerboard. It's so cute! The grandkids will
love it.

Very clever!

Thanks again.

I just want to say Thank You, Thank You, and Thank You! I just started crocheting and I find most of the patterns very difficult to understand. Naturally, so far, all the afghans I made are the same pattern. Again, thank you so much for your wonderful website!

Kim

RE: Your site

Hi Lisa,
Just a note to let you know how well I like your site. I checked
out all your patterns and have made quite a few. Also bought yarn from
Joann.com through your site. You have really helped me out this year
with solving my gift giving! Thanks again.
Jean Decker.
P.S. I saw my last e-mail to you in your last newsletter. Made me
feel good.

* My Pet Peeve:
By Cylinda Mathews

My personal pet peeve is to find an error at the very end of
a big pattern. About 6
years ago, I chose a lovely tablecloth
pattern from either a Magic or Decorative Crochet magazine
to make for my mom.
On the last two rnds, after months of
working on this cloth, I found an error. Because these patterns
are in symbol
crochet, and the edge of the cloth was hidden in
the picture, I had to design my
own edging. My other pet peeve
is an
error at the very beginning. If you can't figure it out, or
contact the designer, you
can't even begin!

What's your pet peeve?

HUMOR

A woman stood inside the front door, her arms full of coats. Four small
children scurried around her.

Her husband, coming down the stairs, asked why she was standing there.

"Here," she said, handing him the coats,

"This time you put the children into their coats, and I'll go honk the
horn."

A man speaks frantically into the phone, "My wife is pregnant,
and her contractions are only two minutes apart!"

"Is this her first child?" the doctor queries.

"Not, the man shouts. . . "This is her husband!"

My husband and I are both in an Internet business, but he's the one who
truly lives, eat, and breathes computers.

I finally realized how bad it had gotten when I was scratching his back one
day.

"No, not there," he directed. "Scroll down."

The man passed out in a dead faint as he came out of his front door onto the
porch.

Someone called 911.

When the paramedics arrived, they helped him regain consciousness and asked
if he knew what caused him to faint.

"It was enough to make anybody faint," he said.

"My son asked me for the keys to the garage, and instead of driving the car
out, he came out with the lawn mower."

A student was heading home for the holidays.

When she got to the airline counter, she presented her ticket to New York
and as she gave the agent her luggage she asked,

"I'd like you to send my green suitcase to Hawaii, and my red suitcase to
London."

The confused agent said, "I'm sorry, we can't to that."

"Really? I am so relieved to hear you say that because, that's exactly what
you did to my luggage last year!"

You need only two tools. WD-40 and duct tape...

Miss Smith and Little Johnny's father were having a parent teacher conference.

Miss Smith said to Little Johnny's father, "Well, at least there's one thing
I can say about your son."

Little Johnny's father asked, "What's that?"

"With grades like these, he couldn't possibly be cheating."
