A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
Proverbs 17:17
Oil and perfume make the heart glad, so a man's counsel is sweet to his friend. Do not forsake your own friend or your father's friend, and do not go to your brother's house in the day of your calamity; better is a neighbor who is near than a brother far away. Be wise, my son, and make my heart glad, that I may reply to him who reproaches me. A prudent man sees evil and hides himself, the naive proceed and pay the penalty.
Proverbs 27:9-12
With the fruit of a man's mouth his stomach will be satisfied; he will be satisfied with the product of his lips. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor from the Lord. The poor man utters supplications, but the rich man answers roughly. A man of many friends comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
Proverbs 18:20-24
"WHEN YOU SEE SOMEONE IN NEED, BE A FRIEND IN DEED."
This quote is from Our Daily Bread - September, 2004 Issue.

Thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart. As I'm on disability, I can't afford the price of books and patterns, and have long wanted some doily patterns. Your free patterns are a dream come true. I found you by accident, and what a blessed accident it was, as you fulfilled a dream. Please keep up this valuable service because folks like me will love it as I do.

* My Pet Peeve:
By Cylinda Mathews
My personal pet peeve is to find an error at the very end of
a big pattern. About 6 years ago, I chose a lovely tablecloth
pattern from either a Magic or Decorative Crochet magazine
to make for my mom. On the last two rnds, after months of
working on this cloth, I found an error. Because these patterns
are in symbol crochet, and the edge of the cloth was hidden in
the picture, I had to design my own edging. My other pet peeve
is an error at the very beginning. If you can't figure it out, or
contact the designer, you can't even begin!

You Know You're In Trouble When ...
Your suggestion box starts ticking.
You make more than you ever made, owe more than you ever owed, and have
less than you've ever had.
The plumber floats by on your kitchen table.
Your secretary tells you the FBI is on line 1, the District Attorney is
on line 2, and CBS is on line 3.
Having lost weight over the past few years, a lady was discarding things
from her wardrobe that no longer fit.
Her seven-year-old niece was watching as she held up a huge pair of
slacks.
"Wow," the lady said, "I must have worn these when I was 183."
Her niece looked puzzled, then asked, "How old are you now?"
Little Harold was practicing the violin in the living room while his
father was trying to read in the den.
The family dog was lying in the den, and as the screeching sounds of
little Harold's violin reached his ears, he began to howl loudly.
The father listened to the dog and the violin as long as he could. Then
he jumped up and yelled above the noise, "Can't you play something the
dog doesn't know?!"
I noticed my husband standing on the bathroom scale, sucking in his
ample stomach.
Thinking he was trying to weigh less with this maneuver, I quipped, "I
don't think that is going to help much, hon."
"Sure it does," he said.
"How else can I see the numbers?"
Reaching the end of a job interview, the human resources person asked a
young engineer fresh out of MIT what kind of a salary he was looking
for.
"In the neighborhood of $140,000 a year, depending on the benefits
package."
"Well, what would you say to a package of 5-weeks vacation, 14 paid
holidays, full medical and dental, company matching retirement fund to
50% of salary, and a company car leased every 2 years...say, a red
Corvette?"
"Wow! Are you kidding?"
"Yeah, but you started it."
I was scheduled to fly from North Carolina to Germany, where my husband
was stationed in the military.
As I checked in at the airport, the ticket agent asked me some standard
security questions.
"Has anyone given you any packages that you didn't pack yourself?" he
asked.
I told him that my mother-in-law had given me a parcel to take to her
son.
He looked at me very carefully and asked:
"Does she like you?"
Amy and Jamie are old friends.
They have both been married to their husbands for a long time. Amy is
upset because she thinks her husband doesn't find her attractive
anymore.
"As I get older he doesn't bother to look at me!" Amy cries.
"I'm so sorry for you, as I get older my husband says I get more
beautiful every day." replies Jamie.
"Yes, but your husband's an antique dealer!"
The preacher spent his whole sermon relating the evils of sin and how
all men are sinners with no exceptions.
At the end of the sermon he asked rhetorically, "Now does anyone here
think they are without sin?"
He had only to wait a few seconds before a man in one of the back pews
stood up.
The pastor asked the man who had the audacity to stand after such a
fiery sermon, "Sir, do you really think you are completely without sin?"
The man quickly answered, "No sir, I'm not standing up for myself, but
for my wife's first husband."
