WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

And it came about that while he was praying in a certain place, after He had finished, one of His disciples said to Him, "Lord, teach us to pray just as John also taught his disciples." And He said to them, "When you pray, say: 'Father, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins, for we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation.' " And He said to them, "Suppose one of you shall have a friend, and shall go to him at midnight, and say to him, 'Friend, lend me three loaves; for a friend of mine has come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him'; and from inside he shall answer and say, 'Do not bother me; the door has already been shut and my children and I are in bed; I cannot get up and give you anything.' I tell you, even though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will get up and give him as much as he needs. And I say to you, ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you. "For everyone who asks, receives; and he who seeks, finds; and to him who knocks, it shall be opened.

Luke 11:1-10

See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek after that which is good for one another and for all men. Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:15-18

"WE NEVER GRADUATE FROM THE SCHOOL OF PRAYER."

CRO-TAT

=============
I see that Annie's Attic now has a new thing that they are calling crochet tatting. Are you able to put in your newsletter something about it including some instructions. Is it maybe an old technique that they have revived. They say they only have a few patterns, and you have to buy the hook from them. I love your stories and share them with my non-computer friends at church. Jane Gordon

<reply>
I haven't tried crochet-tatting as of yet but I have experimented with regular needle tatting.
It was pretty easy and the only difference with needle tatting and cro-tatting seems to be the fact that you use a special crochet hook instead of a tatting needle. The body of the specialty hook is the same size all the way down the hook.
Annie's has a video available for viewing on the following page which demonstrates the technique:
http://www.anniesattic.com/cro_tat/video.html

They also offer Cro-Tat patterns and accessories via the following page:
http://www.anniesattic.com/crochet/index.html?criteria=Crotat
CNM is not affiliated with Annie's Attic.

Cro-tatting with a regular crochet hook !
Crochet Partners offers the following cro-tat patterns which are worked using a technique that is a little different than the one in the AA video. A regular style crochet hook is used instead of the specialty hook.

The following page might prove useful as it shows photo illustrations and instructions for regular needle tatting. Once you get the idea of how the stitches are put onto the needle you can see how easy the technique could be mastered with a crochet hook:

When sewing crocheted motifs together be sure not to pull the yarn too tightly as it may cause your piece to pucker.

VIEWER TIP

Recently found a reverse sc in a pot holder pattern. Makes a great edge. To
do all you do is go around the object doing a sc edge (3 sc in each corner)
then when you get back to the start you sl into the first sc then WITHOUT
turning you sc in the previous stitch working left to right. Really neat
edge.

Must admit I am very new to crochet (8 mos) and found this easy and wonderful
looking.

VIEWER FEEDBACK

NOTE: Any comments left on the CNM website or sent via email may be posted here.

Do you have any hints or tips on working with chenille yarn? I'm making a small (4 - 6") teddy bear for my 8-year old son, and find it difficult to find where to put my hook, etc. I also have a problem with it fraying - I've purchased some fray check, but it takes forever to dry!
Any hints or tips on working with Chenille would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thank you, and God Bless!
Crystal L. Malchose

<reply>
Hi Crystal:

I've worked with Chenille yarns from time to time and have to agree that it is very bothersome to crochet with. I made my Mom a scarf using the Thick 'N Quick chenille yarn and had a very hard time seeing where to place my stitches.

To help you see your stitches try placing stitch marker in each stitch so you can see where to place subsequent stitches.

Be extremely careful to work your stitches correctly since unraveling stitches may cause your yarn to become very flat or have bare places.

Have you tried using a hair dryer to speed the drying process when you apply the Fray Check?

Lisa

Thank you so much for offering such an interesting site. I certainly enjoy the Bible trivia. I thank you again for using this site to praise the Lord! Way to Go!!!
Also, I just downloaded your cookbook and it is a dandy! I have made a copy of it for myself to add to my recipe books. I have not tried any of the recipes yet, but they certainly look delicious. Thanks again for having such a variety!
carol harper, okla.

I had to try the coin ring because I thought is was so adorable. I made
it a little different. I had to use a larger hook, since my work
usually comes out tight. So, I used a steel size 1, added a round of dc
( dc in next st, 2 dc in next st around), and used a gold dollar. Once I get
my film back from being developed, I'll be sure to send you a picture.
I will also be trying out more of your patterns, as I have a large box of
scrap yarn and Christmas on the way. Once I get my original patterns
squared away, I will be posting my own site, and I'll send it to you.
Thanks Again.

Hi,

I would like to request the addition of a link to my site. Please see http://craftbuddys.com

The About Us page tells the story of how I learned to crochet from online instructions and patterns. I would like to thank Crochet 'n' More! I referred to it often.

Craftbuddys offers patterns to sew crochet and knitting (as well as other crafts) portable supply organizers that rest on the arm of a sofa or armchair. The patterns are based on a one-pice design that converts to a portable carrier in minutes. It carries/holds 10 crochet hooks, patterns, eyeglasses, notepad, pen/pencil, small ruler, scissors, etc. I use min and always know where to find my crochet hooks and my current project! It enables me to crochet "just a few rounds" anytime, but keeps things organized and out of reach.

I have always believed in giving back when a gift is given and your site has been a blessing. As a "thank you" to you and others in the crochet community for so freely offering expertise and patterns, I am waiving the cost of the pattern for the Crochetbuddy and only charging shipping. I am also offering my first crochet design as a free pattern for those crocheters who do not sew. The special offer for crocheters is only available by clicking the "cat" cartoon on the About Us page.

I have added a link to Crochet 'n More on my links page.

Thanks!

Ruth Adams

Dear Lisa,
Thank you for a most enjoyable cook book. I would like to compliment you on your input and Hard work into your News Letter and Web Site.
Would you be so kind as to let me know by return e-mail if I could in any way approach you in assisting me with information as to the setting-up of my own on-line bussiness from a South African point of view.
Thank you and may you have a prosperous business and may God bless you in all your efforts.

Sheep!

A mother and her young son returned from the grocery store and began putting away the groceries. The boy opened the box of animal crackers and spread them all over the table. "What are you doing?" his mother asked. "The box says not to eat them if the seal is broken" the boy explained. "I'm
looking for the seal."

Little Bobby was spending the weekend with his grandmother after a
particularly trying week in kindergarten. His grandmother decided to
take him to the park on Saturday morning. It had been snowing all
night and everything was beautiful.

His grandmother remarked..."doesn't it look like an artist painted
this scenery? Did you know God painted this just for you?"

Bobby said, "Yes, God did it and he did it left handed."

This confused his grandmother a bit, and she asked him, "What makes
you say God did this with his left hand?"

"Well," said Bobby, "we learned at Sunday School last week that
Jesus sits on God's right hand!"

Morris was in his usual place in the morning sitting at the table,
reading the paper after breakfast. He came across an article about
a beautiful actress that was about to marry a football player who
was known primarily for his lack of IQ and common sense.

He turned to his wife Sherry, with a look of question on his face.
"I'll never understand why the biggest schmucks get the
most attractive wives."

His wife replies, "Why thank you, dear!"

HOW TO GET USED TO IT

A man goes into his doctors office for an annual physical. After a while
the doctor comes out and says, "I'm sorry Bill, but we have discovered
you have a condition which only allows you another 6 weeks to live."

"But Doctor," Bill replied, "I feel great. I haven't felt better in
years. This just can't be true. Isn't there anything I can do?"

After a moment the doctor said, "Well, you might start going down the
street to that new health spa and take a mud bath every day."

Excited, Bill asks,"Will that help me?"

"No", Replied the doctor, "But it will get you used to the dirt!"

A mother was preparing pancakes for her sons,
Kevin, 5, and Ryan, 3. The boys began to argue over who would get the
first pancake. Their mother saw the opportunity for a moral lesson.
If Jesus were sitting here, He would say,
"Let my brother have the first pancake. I can wait."
Kevin turned to his younger brother and said,
"Ryan, you be Jesus.

A father was at the beach with his children when his four-year-old son
ran up to him, grabbed his hand, and led him to the shore, where a seagull lay dead
in the sand. "Daddy, what happened to him?" the son asked.
"He died and went to Heaven," the dad replied.
The boy thought a moment and then said, "Did God throw him back down?"
