When Satan is knocking at your door, simply say
"Jesus, could you please get that for me?"
"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbs up some other way, he is a thief and a robber. But he who enters by the door is a shepherd of the sheep. To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out. When he puts forth all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. And a stranager they simply will not follow, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers." This figure of speech Jesus spoke to them, but they did not understand what those things were which He had been saying to them. Jesus therefore said to them again, "Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal, and kill, and destroy; I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. He who is a hireling, and not a shepherd, who is not the owner of the sheep, beholds the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep, and flees, and the wolf snatches them, and scatters them. He flees because he is a hireling, and is not concerned about the sheep. I am the good shepherd; and I know My own, and My own know Me, even as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. And I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they shall hear My voice; and they shall become one flock with one shepherd. For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This commandment I received from My Father."
John 10:1-18
"What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open pasture, and go after the one which is lost, until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!' I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents, than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance."
John 15:4-7
For thus says the Lord God, "Behold, I Myself will search for My sheep and seek them out. As a shepherd cares for his herd in the say when he is among his scattered sheep, so I will care for My sheep and will deliver them from all the places to which they were scattered on a cloudy and gloomy day.

CROCHET TIP:
If you would like to make your dog a sweater but wonder if he/she will wear it.
Improvise by using a sock with holes cut out for head and legs for a small dog.
For a medium size dog, use a child's shirt and tie a knot in the waist near the dog's back.
For a large dog, use an adult shirt. If the dog wears these he should tolerate a
crocheted sweater.

Hello :)
I just finished your sweater pattern for my schnauzer (Kaiser) he is 12 and gets really cold but hates all the other sweaters I have bought for him, he does the rolling on the ground thing.. I made him yours and he just loves it!! Thank you so much :)
I'm not good at reading crochet directions, there is one part that stumped me really good,
On row 2-12 what does it mean to ch2. Ch2. ? do I do four? My chrochet is still really tight so I chained two and went on with the hdc, it turned out pretty good, "well for me doing it" lol..I had to enlarge it a bit Kaiser is a little portly so I did 85 instead of 70 stitches at the beg, He is so happy with it! I am so happy I found your pattern!
Thank you again :)
Lily Kelley Howe
I attached a pic of Kaiser with his sweater this is my first one I will make him many more! I hope I get better at crochet lol
<Dog Sweater: Rounds 2-12 explained>
(RND 2-12: Hdc in next st and in each st around. Join with sl st in top of beg ch 2. Ch 2.
DO NOT TURN.)
For these rounds... you work a half double in the next stitch and in each remaining stitch around.
Then you join the round with a slip stitch in the top of the beginning chain 2, which is the 2 chains you made to start each new round. Then you chain 2 to begin again.
I use your newsletters and site more than any book I have ever had! I thank you so much for your devotion to all of us out here in cyberland!! I thank you also for your help in the email you sent to me about how to join granny squares. It really helped! Do you know of a "reverse half double crochet" stitch? I have a pattern and have never tried a stitch of this kind.
Thanks again and God bless you!
Cheryl McBrayer
< Reverse Half Double Crochet >
To make a reverse half double crochet do the following:
Yarn over, insert the hook into the next stitch to the RIGHT of the current
stitch, yarn over, draw a loop through, Yarn over and draw through all 3
loops on hook.
RE: Great Website
Your web site is a true God send!
I thought myself how to crochet last year while my mother was recovering from a severe stroke. Though she crocheted and knitted for as long as I could remember, none of my siblings picked up her craft. It brought her great joy to see me crocheting. Though she couldn't communicate verbally, I always got the message when I did something wrong. This message is well overdue in coming to you. I found site very helpful in helping to clarify stitching instructions and the actual steps in completing specific stitches. Your site has been a favorite for quite a while and referred to often. Thank you for being there when I needed help the most.

PS: The project I chose to do was a 72-inch round pineapple design table covering. My Mom passed away and never saw the completed project. It's not perfect, but I know in my heart that this piece was meant to be. Thank you once again!
I do not want to miss a moment of your wonderful newsletter.
Not only does it give me many ideas, patterns and links,
it gives me inspiration with the religious comments and
works by our Lord. He is always with us, and permits us
to experience many things.
Sincerely,
Dawn

Lisa,
Our church gives out lawn signs with this scripture on it for a witness. Every spring our church gives out hundreds of Bibles blanketing a different town or two each year. It was great to see it on your opening web page........

Wow, thank you so much for your webpage! I have a natural talent for crocheting but reading patterns is like trying to learn a new language. The * and the ( ) really confuse me. I THINK, lol, that I've got it now. I'm still a little intimidated by patterns but I will use your site to get me through. I am truly thankful!
Sincerely,
Angel Robinette
RE: Photo Wreath

Re: Irish Crochet hooks
The Irish roll crochet hooks are very interesting as you will see from my attachment (photo below).
The hook is hundreds of times finer than any hooks we find today, and indeed you could even miss picking up this hook because many of the hooks are so tiny only looking under a magnifying glass would show the tiny hook at the end. My sister picked these up at a second hand store for $1.75 That is, for seven hooks! The owner of the store did not know anything about "hooks" or she would have and could have gotten a great deal more for these hooks. Tatters like the tiny hooks to join their tatting, but the Irish crochet worker loves these hooks because the hooks will work with fine threads. I can see one of the Irish hooks, but the others are so small you can only "feel" the hook at the end to know that it is there. Enjoy, and keep up your search for "hooks"

* My Pet Peeve:
By Cylinda Mathews
My personal pet peeve is to find an error at the very end of
a big pattern. About 6 years ago, I chose a lovely tablecloth
pattern from either a Magic or Decorative Crochet magazine
to make for my mom. On the last two rnds, after months of
working on this cloth, I found an error. Because these patterns
are in symbol crochet, and the edge of the cloth was hidden in
the picture, I had to design my own edging. My other pet peeve
is an error at the very beginning. If you can't figure it out, or
contact the designer, you can't even begin!

You discover that you can get sunburned through your car window.

A police car pulled up in front of grandma Bessie's house, and grandpa got out. The polite policeman explained that the elderly gentleman said that he was lost in the park and couldn't find his way home.
"Morris," said grandma, "You've been going to that park for over 30 years!
How come you get lost today?"
Leaning close to grandma, so that the policeman couldn't hear, grandpa whispered,
"I wasn't lost. I was just too tired to walk home."
Weary of constantly picking clothes up from the floor of her son's room, a
mother finally laid down the law: each item of clothing she had to pick up
would cost her son 25 cents.
By the end of the week, he owed her $1.50. She received the money promptly,
along with a 50- cent tip and a note that read,
"Thanks, Mom; keep up the good work!"
Billie and Tillie were delighted when finally their long wait to
adopt a baby came to an end. The adoption center called and told
them they had a wonderful Russian baby boy and the couple took
him without hesitation.
On the way home from the adoption center, they stopped by the
local college so they each could enroll in night courses. After
they filled out the form, the registration clerk inquired, "What
ever possessed you to study Russian?"
The couple said proudly, "We just adopted a Russian baby and in
a year or so he'll start to talk. We just want to be able to
understand him!"
Nothing in the known universe travels faster than a bad

One weekend my friend Sally, a nurse, was looking after her six-year-old
nephew when he fell off a playground slide and hit his head.
Worried that he might have a concussion, she checked him all night. Every
hour, she'd gently shake him and ask, "What's your name?" Soon, he began
moaning in protest each time she entered the room.
When Sally went in at 5:00 A.M., she found something white on his forehead.
Leaning close, she saw a crayon-scrawled message taped to his forehead.
It read: "My name is Daniel."
My Dad and I were talking the other night about love and marriage.
He told me that he knew as early as their wedding what marriage to my Mom
would be like. It seems the minister asked my Mom, "Do you take this man to
be your husband." And she said, "I do."
Then the minister asked my Dad, "Do you take this woman to be your wife,"
and my Mom said, "He does."
The boss joined a group of his workers at the coffee urn and told a series
of jokes he'd heard recently. Everybody laughed loudly. Everybody, that
is, except Mike.
When he noticed that he was getting no reaction from Mike, the boss said,
"What's the matter, Mike? No sense of humor?"
"My sense of humor is fine," he said. "But I don't have to laugh. I'm
quitting tomorrow."
