Dear Subscriber:
Vacation Bible School began at our church on Monday, July 14th and will end on Friday, July 18th.
This year's theme is "The Great Kingdom Caper". We had 13 people in our first class and we praise God for each and every one of them. Some of Haley's friends from school came so she was really excited.

Or do you not know, brethren (for I am speaking to those who know the law), that the law has jurisdiction over a person as long as he lives? For the married woman is bound by law to her husband while he is living; but if her husband dies, she is released from the law concerning the husband. So then, if while her husband is living, she is joined to another man, she shall be called an adulteress; but if her husband dies, she is free from the law, so that she is not an adulteress, though she is joined to another man. Therefore, my brethren, you also were made to die to the Law through the body of Christ, that you might be joined to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, that we might bear fruit for God. For while we were in the flesh, the sinful passions, which were aroused by the Law, were at work in the members of our body to bear fruit for death. But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter.
Romans 7:1-6
For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles -- if indeed you have heard of the stewardship of God's grace which was given to me for you; that by revelation there was made known to me the mystery, as I wrote before in brief. And by referring to this, when you read you can understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed to His holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit; to be specific, that the Gentiles are fellow heirs and fellow members of the body, and fellow partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel, of which I was made a minister, according to the gift of God's grace which was given to me according to the working of His power. To me, the very least of all saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ, and to bring to light what is the administration of the mystery which for ages has been hidden in God, who created all things; in order that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places. This was in accordance with the eternal purpose which He carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and confident access through faith in Him.

Now yarn over and draw through all loops on the hook.

(A treble decrease can be worked over 2 or more stitches... simply work
each treble without completing the very last step and at the end you yarn over
and draw through all loops on the hook. A treble decrease over 3 stitches would
be written as "tr dec over 3 sts" or "tr3tog".)

I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for the spiritual uplift from your website. I was just looking for some crochet patterns and found peace. You don't see too many sites here that believe God is head of everything.
Thank you again for putting a smile on my face and reminding me of who really is in charge and that he will never leave me.
May God bless you all,
Candy

Re: Thanks!
Thank you so much for your website! What great instructions! My
grandmother taught me how to crochet many years ago and I recently
started making simple scarves and afghans this winter while my son was
stationed in Turkey and Kuwait during the war. It helped me put my
nervous energy to good use!
I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate the time and work you've
put into this excellent site. You instructions are very clear and easy
to follow for a non-expert! Thank you!

Comments: I am so excited about your web site! I am just a beginner. I am looking forward to using some of the patterns you have posted. My mother-n-law did such beautiful work but can no longer hold her hook. She has been so encouraging in my efforts. I make a lot of doilies, a way to practice, she says. I call them my snowflakes because no two look alike! Thankyou again for all the time you spend sharing your talents with the world.

Comments: You have a great website. I have to look at it from time to time to see how to make a stitch that I have forgotten. Every time I do, I usually spend a long time browsing your site and forget about what I am crocheting. I am a man and it seems that I am one of very few that crochets. I have been crocheting for over thirty years and I still like it as much as I always did. Thanks again for your great site.

Thanks for the free patterns & for the e-mail help when I got stuck on a stitch.

* My Pet Peeve:
By Cylinda Mathews
My personal pet peeve is to find an error at the very end of
a big pattern. About 6 years ago, I chose a lovely tablecloth
pattern from either a Magic or Decorative Crochet magazine
to make for my mom. On the last two rnds, after months of
working on this cloth, I found an error. Because these patterns
are in symbol crochet, and the edge of the cloth was hidden in
the picture, I had to design my own edging. My other pet peeve
is an error at the very beginning. If you can't figure it out, or
contact the designer, you can't even begin!

A man was on a a long walk in the country. He became thirsty so decided to
stop at a little cottage and ask for something to drink.
The lady of the house invited him in and served him a bowl of soup by the
fire. There was a wee pig running around the kitchen, running up to the
visitor and giving him a great deal of attention. The visitor commented
that he had never seen a pig this friendly.
The housewife replied: "Ah, he's not that friendly. That's his bowl you're
using."
"I have to have a raise," the man said to his boss. "Three other companies
after me."
"Is that so?" asked the manager. "What other companies are after you?"
"The electric company, the telephone company, and the gas company."
My Dad went into his bosses office one day and said:
"I have to have a raise, or else."
His boss said:
"Or else, what?"
Dad said:
"Or else, I'll keep right on working for what I've been getting."

It was our second anniversary, and my husband sent me flowers at the office.
He told the florist to write "Happy Anniversary, Year Number 2" on the card.
I was thrilled with the flowers, but not so pleased about the card.
It read "Happy Anniversary. You're Number 2."
An Amish man answered a knock on his door one morning. An electric company
worker handed him a piece of paper stating that the electric company would
like to run a power line through his pasture. The Amish man said, "No."
"Legally, that paper says we can." replied the worker.
As he turned and left returning to his co-workers in the field, the Amish
man went to his barn and turned his bull into the pasture.
As the bull rumbled toward the workers in the field, the Amish man hollered,
"Show HIM your paper!"
I didn't know if my granddaughter had learned her colors yet, so I decided
to test her.
I would point out something and ask what color it was. She would tell me,
and always she was correct. But it was fun for me, so I continued.
At last, she headed for the door, saying sagely,
"Grandma, I think you should try to figure out some of these yourself!"
Unaware that Indianapolis is on Eastern Standard Time and Chicago on Central
Standard Time, Bob inquired at the Indianapolis airport about a plane to
Chicago.
"The next flight leaves at 1:00 p.m.," a ticket agent said, "and arrives in
Chicago at 1:01 p.m."
"Would you repeat that, please?" Bob asked.
The agent did so and then inquired, "Do you want a reservation?"
"No," said Bob, "But I think I'll hang around and watch that thing take
off."
