He must increase; but I must decrease.
John 3:30
Do all things without grumbling or disputing; that you may prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may have cause to glory because I did not run in vain nor toil in vain.
Philippians 2:14-16

Hi Lisa - Here is the picture.
They weren't very cooperative
as you can see.
left to right:
DeeDee wearing bandana
made from Sassy Stripes yarn (with buttons)
Winnie - yellow yarn sports weight (with buttons)
Binky - pink worsted weight yarn (with buttons)
Rudy - blue worsted weight yarn - started with a sc circle and then added
the bandana part
Belle - red worsted weight yarn - started with a dc circle and then added
the bandana part
The dc is better because
it makes for a wider collar part.
When I made the circles I didn't have to break off the yarn and re-attach.
However, they are much classier with the buttons.
DeeDee and Winnie are Papillons and the rest are Chihuahuas.
Thanks again for the cute pattern. Linda
RE: Crosses
Hi lisa, Just wanted to let you know that the crochet crosess went over very well at the successful Bible Study on Proverbs. We had 16 ladies with the average of 10-12 each Monday night. We were all blessed and we had many diverse backgrounds there. I thank the lord for the priviledge to lead. I am now looking for directions for a prayer shawl in crochet worsted thread. I will go on you web site to see. trust your Easter was blessed. In Him, Diana H. De Vries

Re: Bonnie DeCamp's Cross Bookmark
I just wanted to tell you how happy I am to find this pattern. My Aunt Alta used to make these bookmarks every Easter for all of us grand kids. I still have a few that she made. I never had her pattern though and as she is gone I am anxious to continue in her stead. Thanks again, Vivian Cray
Your website is awesome.

Re: Free patterns
I would like to thank you for the preemie patterns that you have on your site. I am a 67 disable woman that has been given lots of yarn scraps. So my service to the community is I make hats and gowns for the babies and give them to the Dr. in Bakersfield that takes them to the Neo-natal unit and give them to the ones that need them. I also make gowns and clothing for the mortuary to give to the families of the little ones, so they don't have to go buy them. I thank you for giving me the patterns so that I can do this service. I don't have the money to buy and patterns or yarn but things keep coming in.S. Ocker Bakersfield, Ca

Hi my name is Christina I really want to make this pair of socks and I can’t seem to figure out the pattern . I can usually follow most beginner to intermediate patterns but I can’t get past row 2 of this one if someone could please help clarify what its asking of me or direct me to someone who could help. I would really appreciate it.
<< reply >>
This means you are beginning at the cuff... chain 8. This cuff is worked in short rows and then joined at the end to form a tube. For Row 2 you are working in the back loops only (this is the loop of the stitch that is farthest away from you). Work one single crochet in the back loop of each single crochet across. Now chain 1 and turn. Keep working one single crochet in the back loop of each single crochet until the piece measures 12-1/2" stretched. Now sew the short ends together (row 1 to the last row).
Lisa-- I love the dog bandana pattern! I whipped up a green one for St. Pat's and it is the perfect size for my Cavalier! I'm thinking of doing other holiday ones using an appropriate base color and adding a symbol made from thread using a pin or fridgie pattern (IE a ghost for Holloween, a bunny head for Easter, a turkey for Thanksgiving etc).
Thanks so much for this
fun pattern!

Hi.. I just made this sweater for my Dachshund, I love it and am currently making another. I am at work now and do not have access to my photos but I will send one within the next few days. I also want to say that I am fairly new at crocheting and I was able to follow your instructions very well even with altering it for the length. Thank You, Cherie
Hello, Thank you for this pattern. I am a beginner with crochet and really appreciate the easy pattern and simple, easy to follow instructions. I enjoyed making this for my dog Cody
and am making some for my friends' dogs too.

Hi, Over the Christmas holidays our grandchildren visited. Our granddaughter, Christine is twelve years old and has shown interest in crocheting with yarn. Both of her grandmothers crochet so she has willing teachers. Since she was sick with a sore throat while here I wanted to keep her busy. Christine's cousin just got a puppy so I looked for a pattern online for a simple dog sweater that she could make. Your pattern was perfect! Easy to follow and she made it in less than an hour! Thanks so much for sharing this pattern. We will always remember this Christmas as the time when Christine made her first "real" crocheted article. She also made a snowflake window ornament from an online pattern. If you'd like a picture of Rosie the dog in the sweater I could send it. RE: Crochet Links (Link Removed)
Dear Lisa, I wanted to let you know that when you click on the link from your site to The Ragged Kitten, they have a list of sites to link to, one of which is probably not something you want people to see when they travel from your site. There is a time and place for everything and this link is just in the wrong place. J. Polifroni
<< reply >>
Thank you so much for telling me that The Ragged Kitten site was no longer crochet related. Sadly, this happens from time to time. When a person lets their domain name expire, anyone can obtain that name and change the content. Thanks again!
On Feb 18,2008 I signed up and received confirmation that I would receive the Crochet and More Newsletter. This was supposed to be sent on the 15th and 30th of each month to my email box. As of today's date I have not received them. At this time I believe I should have received at least 2. Please advise. Thanks in advance Winifred Meyerdierks

I have to tell you about this new book.
SweaterBabe.com's Fabulous & Flirty Crochet
I'm so happy to have it in my crochet library.
Katherine Lee has an eye for style and a definite knack for creating beautiful
crochet patterns.
I was really happy with the large colorful project photos.
There's something for everyone!
The aspect of Fabulous and Flirty Crochet that stood out to me was the section
on the yarns used in the patterns.
One page shows "actual size" photos of the yarns which makes it super
easy to substitute other yarns if you want to.
For those who stay strictly to the recommended yarn in a pattern Katherine has
included a yarn resource list.
The projects are very fashionable and perfect for gift giving... though I'm
sure you'll have to make something for yourself :o)
I can't wait to try the Flirty Skirt and the Ruffled Strap Tank.

A school teacher injured
his back and had to wear a plaster cast around the upper part of his body.
It fit under his shirt and was not noticeable at all. On the first day of the
term, still with the cast under his shirt, he found himself assigned to the
toughest students in school. Walking confidently into the rowdy classroom, he
opened the window as wide as possible and then busied himself with desk work.
When a strong breeze made his tie flap, he took the desk stapler and stapled
the tie to his chest.
Discipline was not a problem from that day forth.
In my Sunday School class
we were quizzing the children on what they knew about Jesus' birth.
One red-headed boy described the Three Wise Men as "a tall man, a short man,
and a medium man who came to visit Jesus."
We asked him why they had come.
He replied, "All three men brought boxes to Baby Jesus."
So we asked him what was in the boxes.
"Well, in one of them there was a pooper-scooper!" he exclaimed.
Well, that provoked a "why would the Wise Men bring a pooper-scooper?" question.
The look on his face said we obviously didn't know ANYTHING and finally exasperated with us, he answered, "Well, why do you think? With all those animals in the stable Jesus is gonna need to have a pooper-scooper!"
On a flight to Florida, I was preparing my notes for one of the parent education seminars I conduct as an educational psychologist. The elderly woman sitting next to me explained that she was returning to Miami after having spent two weeks visiting her six children, 18 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren in Boston. Then she inquired what I did for a living. I told her, fully expecting her to question me for free professional advice. Instead she sat back and said,
"If there's anything you want to know, just ask me."
Mom was getting swamped
with calls from strangers.
The reason?
A medical billing service had launched an 800 number that was identical to hers.
When she called to complain, they told her to get a new number.
"I've had mine for twenty years," she pleaded. "Couldn't you change yours?"
They refused.
So Mom said, "Fine. From now on I'm going to tell everyone who calls that their bill is paid in full."
The company got a new number the next day.
A visiting speaker was impressed by the enthusiasm our Christian school students showed in their physical education class. "I exercise, too," he sighed, faintly smiling at our pastor.
"Every morning I awaken to the alarm, jump from bed, and run around the block six times."
As our pastor expressed
surprise and offered hearty praise, the man continued,
"Then I kick the block under the bed and go back to sleep."
My husband, a doctor, received an emergency call from a patient: She had a fly in her ear. He suggested an old folk remedy. "Pour warm olive oil in your ear and lie down for a couple of minutes," he said.
"When you lift your head, the fly should emerge with the liquid."
The patient thought that sounded like a good idea. But she had one question:
"Which ear should I put the oil in?"
A class professor was giving a lecture on company slogans and was asking his students if they were familiar with them.
"Joe," he asked, "which
company has the slogan, FLY THE FRIENDLY SKIES?"
Joe answered the correct airline.
"Brenda, can you tell me
which company has the slogan, DON'T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT IT?"
Brenda answered the correct credit card company with no difficulty.
"Now John, tell me which
company bears the slogan, JUST DO IT?"
And John answered, "Mom."
A duck walks into a bar and asks "Got any crackers? "
Bartender says "no."
Duck walks out.
Duck walks in the next day and asks, "Got any crackers?"
Barender says "no."
Duck walks out.
Duck walks in the next day and asks, "Got any crackers?"
Bartender says,
"I told you yesterday and the day before that no! and if you ask that one more
time I'll nail your beak shut!"
Duck walks out.
Duck comes back the next day and asks, "Got any nails?"
Bartender says "no."
Duck says "Good. Got any crackers?"
One of my husband's duties as a novice drill instructor at Fort Jackson, S.C., was to escort new recruits to the mess hall. After everyone had made it through the chow line, he sat them down and told them,
"There are three rules in this mess hall: Shut up! Eat up! Get up!"
Checking to see that he
had everyone's attention, he asked, "What is the first rule?"
Much to the amusement of the other instructors, 60 privates yelled in unison,
"Shut up, Drill Sergeant!"
A Sunday school teacher decided to have her young class memorize one of the most quoted passages in the Bible: Psalm 23. She gave the youngsters a month to learn the chapter.
Little Rick was excited about the task, but he just couldn't remember the Psalm. After much practice, he could barely get past the first line. On the day that the kids were scheduled to recite Psalm 23 in front of the congregation, Rickey was very nervous.
When it was his turn, he
stepped up to the microphone and said proudly,
"The Lord is my Shepherd, and that's all I need to know."
Reporter interviewing a
104-year-old woman:
"And what do you think is the best thing about being 104?"
"No peer pressure."
"Ow!" I yelled. My hand had been stuck with a piece of wood from a wicker laundry basket.
"I got a splinter under my fingernail," I called to my husband in the next room.
Ever the wise guy, he yelled back, "What were you doing, scratching your head?"
When people ask me how old I am, I tell them I'm 39 -- with 25 years of experience. -- Chuck Norris
A Department of Water representative
stopped at a ranch and talked with an old rancher.
He told the rancher, 'I need to inspect your ranch for your water allocation.'
The old rancher said, 'Okay, but don't go in that field over there.'
The Water representative
said, 'Mister, I have the authority of the Federal Government with me.
See this card? The card means I am allowed to go WHEREVER I WISH on any agricultural
land.
No questions asked or answered. Have I made myself clear? Do you understand?'
The old rancher nodded politely and wen t about his chores.
Later, the old rancher heard loud screams and saw the Water Rep running for the fence and close behind was the rancher's bull. The bull was gaining on the Water Rep with every step. The Rep was clearly terrified, so the old rancher immediately threw down his tools, ran to the fence and shouted out.....
'Your card! Your card! Show him your card!'
