WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

"People may forget what you say, but they'll never forget how you made them feel."

Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:28

As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds His people from this time forth and forever.

Psalm 125:2

My eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me; he who walks in a blameless way is the one who will minister to me. He who practices deceit shall not dwell within my house; he who speaks falsehood shall not maintain his position before me. Every morning I will destroy all the wicked of the land, so as to cut off from the city of the Lord all those who do iniquity.

Psalm 101:6-8

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.

John 16:33

"TO SEE GOD'S HAND IN EVERYTHING
MAKES LIFE A GREAT ADVENTURE."

This quote is from Our Daily Bread - December, 2006 Issue.

"For where two or three have gathered together in My name, there I am in their midst." Matthew 18:20

CROCHET TIP

Leave at least 4-6 inches of yarn when beginning a crochet project and don't cut your yarn too short when finishing one. You need to weave in your yarn tails to secure the ends of the yarn so your project doesn't unravel. Check out the information on this page:
http://crochet.about.com/library/bl_weave_ends.htm

Re: thank you so much

I want to wish you a very Merry Christmas and pray that you invite Jesus to your dinner. I just read a message where he is not invited to his own birthday parties and then I received your letter. May God bless you for spreading the word of Christ. I was not a believer until three years ago and has my life changed. Now you are another inspiration to me. You are special. God Bless Love Dorothy

RE: Crochet Instructions

Hi. I visited your website this evening, and I'd just like to say that you have done a wonderful job of providing extremely helpful information. I have been having problems reading one of my patterns; I searched through your help section and found several examples that resembled mine, however, I am afraid I still don't quite understand what its asking me to do. I am thinking maybe this is not quite the hobby for me! But I am determined to finish this project for my friend's new baby. I would appreciate it greatly if you could translate the instructions into a more manageable language for me! Thank you so very much!! Slip st in next 2 dc and in next ch-2sp, ch 3, (2dc, ch2, 3dc) in same sp, ch1. *(3dc, ch 2, 3dc in next corner ch-2sp, ch1. Repeat from* 2 times more. Join with slip st to first dc, finish off: 24 dc, and 8sp. -- Stephanie Traywick

<< reply >>

Thanks Stephanie. You said the "magic word".... "determined".
That tells me you WILL learn to crochet successfully!

For your instructions mean you need to:

slip stitch in each of the next 2 double crochet stitches
slip stitch in the next chain 2 space (working into the hole beneath the 2 chains)
chain 3
Work two double crochets, chain 2, and three more double crochet stitches all in the same space.
chain 1
*
work 3 double crochets, chain 2, and 3 more double crochet stitches all in the next corner chain 2 space.
chain 1
Now repeat from the asterisk two more times.
Join with a slip stitch in the top of the first double crochet,
finish off:
You should have 24 double crochet stitches and 8 chain spaces when you finish.

I am looking for some patterns to make some potholders. I think that is what you call them. The things you use you get pans out of the oven? Thanks, Wanda Stanley

I just recently decided that I wanted to learn to crochet so my husband went and got me several items for Christmas. Now what do I do with them? Well, thanks to your site and all the hints and tips and how to's, I am confident that I will know what to do with my newly recieved Christmas items!! I am 28 years old and I can quilt and cross stitch and bake pretty well but still very interested in learning how to crochet. I am so very excited!!! Thanks again for having such a wonderfully informative website!!! Dana Brown

I want to say thank you for a wonderful web page. The reason it's one of my faves. is becuse you have Jesus as apart of it.Thank you so much for that. I pray that even one person will find the lord threw your site. What a blessing that would be. Your site is a blessing to me.I love the animal pages. God bless you!! Patty

I really enjoy your newsletter, with all the tips, tricks, free patterns, stitch techniques, jokes and more. I also appreciate your boldness for Christ, proclaiming the Word and reaching out to those who don't know Him as Lord & Savior. In today's "politically correct" society, we need more Christians like you who aren't afraid to stand up for their beliefs. Thanks! Marty

I have to tell you about this new book.
SweaterBabe.com's Fabulous & Flirty Crochet
I'm so happy to have it in my crochet library.

Katherine Lee has an eye for style and a definite knack for creating beautiful crochet patterns.
I was really happy with the large colorful project photos.
There's something for everyone!
The aspect of Fabulous and Flirty Crochet that stood out to me was the section on the yarns used in the patterns.
One page shows "actual size" photos of the yarns which makes it super easy to substitute other yarns if you want to.
For those who stay strictly to the recommended yarn in a pattern Katherine has included a yarn resource list.
The projects are very fashionable and perfect for gift giving... though I'm sure you'll have to make something for yourself :o)
I can't wait to try the Flirty Skirt and the Ruffled Strap Tank.

HUMOR

Our supervisor recently made a casual comment about my shaggy mane of hair.
He then went on to extol the virtues of a good haircut, which, he insisted, makes
an elderly man look younger and a younger man seem more mature.

"How would a haircut make a middle-aged man like me appear?" I asked.

"Still employed," he answered.

Mr. Peterson, a tourist from Toronto, arrived in Barbados.

In an airport taxi cab, Peterson asked the driver,
"Say, is this really a healthful place?"

"It sure is," the cabby replied.
"When I came here I couldn't say one word. I had hardly any hair on my head. I didn't have the strength to walk across a room, and I had to be lifted out of bed."

"That's wonderful!" said the tourist,
"How long have you been here?"

"I was born here."

It was Christmas and the judge was in a merry mood as he asked the prisoner,
"What are you charged with?"

"Doing my Christmas shopping early," replied the defendant.

"That's no offense," said the judge. "How early were you doing this shopping?"

"Before the store opened," countered the prisoner.

Recently my girlfriend, Karen, got a job at a local hardware store. "The owner doesn't want us hanging out with our friends," she said. "If you stop by, tell them you're my brother."

On my first visit I walked to the customer service desk and asked the older woman there, "Is Karen around?" When she looked at me quizzically, I added, "I'm her brother."

She smiled. "What a nice surprise. I'm Karen's mother."

YEAR AFTER YEAR, Johnny asked for a rabbit for Christmas and was disappointed when he never got one.
Finally, he surprised his mother and asked for a magic wand and magician’s hat.

When asked why the change, Johnny replied,
“So I can pull a rabbit out of the hat.”

It had been snowing for hours when an announcement came over the high school intercom:
"Will the students who are parked on University Drive please move their cars so that we may begin plowing."

Twenty minutes later there was another announcement:
"Will the twelve hundred students who went to move 26 cars, return to class."

The two teenagers were arrested for disorderly conduct.
The police sergeant told them they were entitled to a phone call.
Some time later a man entered the station and asked for them by name.

The sergeant said, "I suppose you're the lawyer?"

"Nope," the chap replied.
"I'm just here to deliver their pizza."

The whole neighborhood shook from the explosion. As shopkeepers ran outside to see what happened, they spotted the pharmacist staggering out of his smoldering building. His white uniform was now scorched black.

He went up to a woman standing nearby.
"Lady!" he said,
"Would you please ask your doctor to write that prescription again.
And this time, PRINT IT!"

Our three-year-old daughter, Jenna, was having trouble sleeping through the night, waking up because she was afraid. Each time as I re-tucked her into bed, I would remind her that Jesus was with her and he would keep her safe.

The sleepless nights continued, with Abby seeking comfort in our bedroom. Finally, one night, I asked her if she had prayed for Jesus to take her fear away and help her fall asleep.

"Oh, yes," she assured me. "He told me to come and get you."

I went to Magician's School but flunked the final exam.
They were all trick questions.

The child comes home from his first day at school. His Mother asks,
"Well, what did you learn today?"

The kid replies,
"Not enough. They want me to come back tomorrow."

The Reverend Francis Norton woke up Sunday morning and, realizing it was an exceptionally beautiful and sunny early spring day, decided he just had to play golf. So... he told the Associate Pastor that he was feeling sick and convinced him to say Mass for him that day.

As soon as the Associate Pastor left the room, Father Norton headed out of town to a golf course about forty miles away. This way he knew he wouldn't accidentally meet anyone he knew from his parish. Setting up on the first tee, he was alone. After all, it was Sunday morning and everyone else was in church!

At about this time, Saint Peter leaned over to the Lord while looking down from the heavens and exclaimed, "You're not going to let him get away with this, are you?"

The Lord sighed, and said,
"No, I guess not."

Just then Father Norton hit the ball and it shot straight towards the pin, dropping just short of it, rolled up and fell into the hole.
It WAS A 420 YARD HOLE IN ONE!

St. Peter was astonished. He looked at the Lord and asked,
"Why did you let him do that?"

The Lord smiled and replied,
"Who's he going to tell?"

A pastor went out one Saturday to visit his church members.
At one house, it was obvious that someone was home, but nobody came to the door even though the preacher knocked several times. Finally, the preacher took out his card, wrote out "Revelation 3:20" on the back of it, and stuck it in the door.

_ _ _
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with me. - Revelation 3:20

_ _ _
The next day, the card turned up in the collection plate. Below the preacher's message was written the following notation:

_ _ _
I heard your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself. - Genesis 3:10
